FAU prof says Sandy Hook massacre may have been gov’t conspiracy

A cogent argument against tenure, from Florida’s Sun-Sentinel newspaper:

A communication professor known for conspiracy theories has stirred controversy at Florida Atlantic University with claims that last month’s Newtown, Conn., school shootings did not happen as reported — or may not have happened at all.

Moreover, James Tracy asserts in radio interviews and on his memoryholeblog.com. that trained “crisis actors” may have been employed by the Obama administration in an effort to shape public opinion in favor of the event’s true purpose: gun control.

“As documents relating to the Sandy Hook shooting continue to be assessed and interpreted by independent researchers, there is a growing awareness that the media coverage of the massacre of 26 children and adults was intended primarily for public consumption to further larger political ends,” writes Tracy, a tenured associate professor of media history at FAU and a former union leader.

Here’s hoping the good professor has no plans for a Connecticut vacation anytime soon.

People like this are entitled to their opinions, and let them express in public what they feel, instead of in small back rooms, so the public will know who the idiots and fools are. Let them open their mouths and speak so they can be heard and seen and noted.

Would like to point out that any knucklehead can get a Ph.D., but it takes a real incompetent to hire a Ph.D. who believes that media reporting is a government conspiracy to teach media history to children.

This nut should be fired. No way decent people should let this idiot get away with this distortion of the truth. No matter what your views on gun control, this prof is either crazy or evil.

Humans have a small ability to grasp fast change. Whenever there is a car accident or a shooting or a fire, you always find people who insist they first thought or hoped it was a movie being filmed instead of reality, despite the complete lack of any sign of a film crew. The idea that it’s some sort of fantasy is what they dearly want to believe because the actual truth is too harsh or impossible to accept, so it cannot be true. It just can’t, you know. It’s just a movie. A set. Faked. Rock stars
didn’t die, man didn’t walk on the moon, the Earth is not round, and a bunch of school kids didn’t die.
So, it is easier to believe that a school massacre was staged, despite the fact that there’s no evidence of that and despite the fact that nobody has ever staged anything like this in the history of the human race. It is impossible to accept any other answer.

Having read a few entries on this alleged media history professor’s blog, I’m struck by the sloppy writing. Is it possible that “memoryholeblog.com” is a ruse perpetrated by the vast anti-intellectual conspiracy with the aim of discrediting all us knucklehead PhD’s?

If he truly feels this was a made up event, then he should go there and ask around. Seriously. Go to Newtown and knock on the doors of some of the parents and ask them if it happened. 1 of 2 things will happen. 1) he will be made to feel like the moron that he is or 2) …. in reality, the first thing is the only thing that will happen.

Not sure how the birther debate has anything to do with sandy hook. Just because some nut job somewhere thinks this is a conspiracy? At least the birther movement was created from a president refusing to show his birth certificate (and many people thought it was a conspiracy). Sandy Hook is just a tragedy that one loser says is a conspiracy.

I get so tired of people saying Obama “refused to show us his birth certificate.” Please show us any sort of law or documentation that requires the POTUS, whoever he or she may be, to show the American public his/her birth certificate. The mere fact that Obama was able to run for office proves that he’s a citizen, but it’s obvious that birthers don’t operate in the realm of reality. They should feel right at home with this crackpot professor.

Tina
