Johnny Isakson: John Kerry ‘a good nominee’

The United States Senate likes to confirm its own, and Georgia Republican U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson’s reaction to the news that Massachusetts Democratic U.S. Sen. John Kerry would be tapped for the gig of Secretary of State showed that Kerry likely will have an easy ride. Video above, here’s a key quote:

Well, John Kerry is very qualified. I have had the occasion to work with him on the Foreign Relations Committee now for four years. He’s been very active and engaged in international diplomacy, in particular the comprehensive peace agreement in the Sudan, which was successfully concluded last year. I think he would be a good nominee for the president. … I’m sure there will be questions and analysis of his career, but I think he will be confirmed.

If Kerry is nominated, he will get 80 plus votes.

I’m sure there will be some comments from a few Senators regarding Kerry’s testimony when he came back from Vietnam.

If that happens, it will be interesting to see which ones make the comments and if they served themselves or “had other priorities”.

I have boycotted Heinz products ever since Kerry ran for President. He is just another ivy league rich liberal who is in politics so he will have something to do. The way Obama has run the country I wouldn’t be surprised if we did not have a White House in 2024. We will be defeated and broke by 2024.

It’s the end of the year folks, but we still have plenty of ill-informed, asinine, fatuous, utterly stupid comments from td such as this one:
“So I guess you are not going to have any problems if John McCain should ask some really hard questions about him supporting the enemy while he was still a POW?”

Exactly what ’support’ did John Kerry, recipient of 3 Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star and a Silver Star, give to ‘the enemy.’ Are you referring to him forming the “Vietnam Veterans Against the War” association, a group I suppose you and the rest of the republican chicken (sh!t) hawks would deem as traitors, since they didn’t hold your view point of endless war until everything on the planet is scorched and everyone under 30 is dead from combat. (except intrepid key board warriors like you, bush and cheney). I guess you were too busy cheer leading the slaughter of innocents by mccain from his mile high seat to notice that Kerry and the Vets Against the War spoke for over 80 percent of American people who saw the futility and folly of that misbegotten adventure and were tired of the whole enterprise, The die hard war monger mccain can soap box all he wants, all he’ll do, just as you’ve done here, is show how out of touch with reality and the American people you all are.

john mccain earned his time in prison camp the same way Kerry earned his decorations, through their character and upbringing. mccain slouched through life and through the military, Being the son and grandson of Admirals, he was never held accountable for his screw ups, and he paid for it with his inability to fly a plane without crashing it. He wasn’t held to account for starting the fire that sank the USS Forestal and killed US servicemen and pilots. He earned his prison time with that prank alone. The fact he partied through flight school and graduated only because of his family ties just ensured he would end up serving his sentence after he inevitably crashed his plane. Somehow because he acted like an A hole to his captors that is supposed to make him some kind of hero, when all he did was stay in his normal character of an A hole.

John Kerry earned his hero status, by his conduct in the war and later his conduct to end the war, both noble endeavors. mccain is simply an A hole. period who has accomplished nothing but living high on his family ties and the legend he concocted for himself.

Kerry smeared young men drafted into an immoral war ( begun and expanded by Kennedy, escalated by LBJ) by testifying before congress that they had committed unspeakable atrocities. He carried a video camera and took the equivalent of home movies of himself as hero. Ever the opportunist, he nevertheless unwittingly gave us the term *swiftboating* as a synonym for truth telling.
And yet I think he will be a good SofS because he is more than capable of cleaning up the tangled messes left behind by the departing Mrs Clinton.

I’m no McCain supporter but you need to get your facts straight.

1) USS Forrestal did not sink as a result of the fire in the Tonkin Gulf, it was decommissioned in 1993 and will be dismantled for recycling.

2) McCain’s plane was neither the cause of the fire nor the initiator of the accident, a plane on the opposite side of the flight deck discharged a missle probably hitting the plane next to McCain’s due to an electrical power surge that fired the missle because 2 electrical safety cutouts had been bypassed (one intentionally and one unintentionally).

The wound was covered with a bandaid.

The following morning, John Kerry arrived at the office of Coastal Division 14 Commander Grant Hibbard to apply for a Purple Heart. Having already been informed by Schachte that Kerry’s injury was self-inflicted rather than the result of hostile fire, Commander Hibbard told him to “forget it.” Hibbard recently said of Kerry’s minor scratch, “I’ve seen worse injuries from a rose thorn.”

John Kerry’s service in Vietnam lasted 4 months and 12 days, beginning in November 1968 when he reported to Cam Ranh Bay for a month of training. His abbreviated combat tour ended shortly after he requested a transfer out of Vietnam on March 17, 1969, citing Navy instruction 1300.39 permitting personnel with three Purple Hearts to request reassignment.

Someone needs to (but won’t, because it’s the Senate) press Kerry on his vote for the Graham-Sheehan resolution of August 2011, in which the Senate unanimously disregarded the pertinent facts of the Abkhazia and South Ossetia conflicts and called on Russian troops to withdraw from those regions for the purpose of FSR Georgia’s “territorial integrity.” Kerry should be asked if he, too, voted in ignorance, or if he knew better but voted yes anyway. Neither answer would be particularly assuring for any candidate for Secretary of State, given how much diplomatic double-dealing we’ve been (often correctly) accused of over the years.

You are right and he will be the next SoS but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth allowing a person to get to the position of 4th in line to the Presidency that should have been shot with her friend Fonda for treason.

If you do not like it then come find me, slimball
************************************************************

You shouldn’t be that hard to find. I’ll head over to the square in Mayretta and ask someone where I can find the village idiot. I’m sure your rep as town clown extends all over the county.

And then maybe you can explain how a criticism of john mccain, is somehow an “anti-American rant.? ” How stupid is that. You cheer on the confederate loving America hating klan types that come here every day and call the President of our nation everything from a N*****er to a traitor, but when I call out the phoniness of john mccain, who is a legend only in his own mind and small minds like yours,, I am the anti-American. Again, I ask, how stupid is that?

Slimball,

I do not care what people call Obama because he is nothing more then an elected politician that has not sacrificed anything for this country.

Why would you even want to summon it?

“I do not care what people call Obama because he is nothing more then an elected politician that has not sacrificed anything for this country.”

Arguably, that is the most inane, pompous, absolute lie you’ve written here. And buddy, that list is looooonnnnngg.

Love, hate or indifference, he has already sacrificed far more for this country than you have in your lifetime.

“How much do you tithe, Auntie?”

Um, In the New Testament, Jesus mentions tithing three times: Luke 11:42; Matthew 23:23 (which includes the comment from Luke) and Luke 18:12 Each time it is a reprimand to the attitude of the Pharisees about tithing. He never instructed his followers to tithe and there is no record of him mentioning the matter again.

A fool and his money.

Let me stop laughing a minute and play this game with you. Please, please, please tell us all what Obama has sacrificed for our country?

Thanks for your facts [in your first post in this thread] about McCain…John Boy, born into wealth, married into more [ trophy wife] wealth, after the first wife was disfigured in a car wreck, and he had a Newt Gingrich-style one-side negotiation divorce. What a raid. At least he has to protect his status as a POW by admitting that torture is a crime, and morally wrong.

McCain is the guy who would have America one heart beat away from being lead by a real [Fox News bimbo] village idiot: Sarah Palin. Even Garrison Keeler did a riff about how McCain must have selected that bimbo based on his failing libido.

The plane crash that put McCain in Hanoi was his third jet crash…any other pilot that had crashed into power lines while under altitude over the beaches of Spain had already been weeded out. Too bad he didn’t listen to ground-to-air missile avoidance lectures, but hey, when you are born a yuppie GOP spawn, you expect a pass.

Kerry was born into wealth, but as a man, of real character, he volunteered for Vietnam, unlike Bush, Cheney, Ashcroft, Beck, Limbaugh, Bortz, and most of the hate radio and GOP electorate frauds. Where was Saxby? Playing golf? At the frat house? Max Cleland volunteered, you fraud, despite what that sleaze Ann Couleter said [for you].

You GOP rich-kissing village idiots keep resenting those Americans like Clinton and Obama who have earned what they have through work, and keep sucking up to the rich. Buy gold, invest with Madoff, vote GOP. You don’t have a clue how to live if Wal-Mart doesn’t get that next delivery and your unlimited plastic charge cards don’t give you Platinum status among the wage slaves. You may learn how low-wage slavery works if I’m the one feeding you, GOP frauds. The least informed in America know what being dumped on is like. Elites are revoltingly simplistic in their greed, and easy to spot.

td, you re an idiot. If you want to worship a born-into-wealth monarchy, move to Britain. Let the rich elites-by-birth eat their jewelry…they certainly would sell off their kids futures to stay “ahead”. What pathetic ‘patriots’.

Of course you don’t care, no one is surprised by that statement because as I have pointed out on numerous occasions when your hypocrisy is so amply demonstrated. You have no consistency of belief, you have no moral center, no ethos, only an abiding racism, bigotry and disdain for anything not white, middle class, and conforming to your narrow, limited world view. You are so predictable with your memes of “anti-American,” ‘’socialist,” and other pox news/tea party rote speech that you and the others like you on this site are caricatures. You’re a joke. Not only do we laugh at you, but we break wind in your general direction. Breath deep and have a happy HOLIDAY. LOL
