Johnny Isakson: John Kerry ‘a good nominee’

The United States Senate likes to confirm its own, and Georgia Republican U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson’s reaction to the news that Massachusetts Democratic U.S. Sen. John Kerry would be tapped for the gig of Secretary of State showed that Kerry likely will have an easy ride. Video above, here’s a key quote:

Well, John Kerry is very qualified. I have had the occasion to work with him on the Foreign Relations Committee now for four years. He’s been very active and engaged in international diplomacy, in particular the comprehensive peace agreement in the Sudan, which was successfully concluded last year. I think he would be a good nominee for the president. … I’m sure there will be questions and analysis of his career, but I think he will be confirmed.

Not that it makes any difference, in America we all are allowed to have an opinion, I put in 25 yrs with the DOD.

Yes, we elect our representatives democratically, but we are a country ruled by laws, not by the mob or the plurality.

Yes, elections have consequences; elect a light weight like Obama, you get appointments like Kerry. A rich man so small, that he betrayed his big government liberalism speech, with his real world cheapskate nature, by trying to anchor his big yacht, in a state other than his home state of MA, just to avoid a few dollars in taxes. John Kerry is a tax cheat, like Tim Geithner and Tom Daschle. Dems always want to raise taxes, because they know they are not going to actually pay any, that is for the other folks.

If you preach it, you need to live it, or shut up.

John McCain would have served us better if he’d stayed out of Congress after his repatriation.

Someone needs to (but won’t, because it’s the Senate) press Kerry on his vote for the Graham-Sheehan resolution of August 2011, in which the Senate unanimously disregarded the pertinent facts of the Abkhazia and South Ossetia conflicts and called on Russian troops to withdraw from those regions for the purpose of FSR Georgia’s “territorial integrity.” Kerry should be asked if he, too, voted in ignorance, or if he knew better but voted yes anyway. Neither answer would be particularly assuring for any candidate for Secretary of State, given how much diplomatic double-dealing we’ve been (often correctly) accused of over the years.

I think accusing young draftees of atrocities qualifies as smearing, and Kerry’s testimony has been captured and preserved for anyone who has doubts.
The typical *well what about*….misdirection regarding anyone on the democrat enemy list is totally irrelevant to the discussion at hand and reveals only an inability to admit the facts presented.

wingfield has written some dorky post about his bing crosby fantasy of “White Christmas,” that doesn’t involve Obama bashing. I guess that is the reason the white trash that normally live on his blog have chosen to come over to this one to post their hate rhetoric and insane rants. With bloggers closing down their posting until after the holidays, I wonder how these haters are going to cope. With nowhere to vent their spleen and vitriol, I feel sorry for their dogs, children and their wives, since it’s normal for those types to beat up on any and all of them when they have no outlet for their perpetual anger. I am amazed that ‘you don’t say’ can even type. It must be extremely difficult and painful for it to do so. Just think, typing with two broken arms is quite an accomplishment! It broke both its arms patting itself on the back for its ‘service’ to our country. IF it truly has three purple hearts, it should be awarded another for injuries sustained in the line of congratulating itself. It should also be given a public relations commendation for advertising itself as often and as much as possible. I just wonder if it might be ‘false advertising’?

In a bit of Democratic comeuppance for dinging Mitt Romney for how little he pays in taxes, Wonkblog published this chart of presidential candidates’ tax rates. And wouldn’t you know, John Kerry had a (slightly) lower tax rate than Romney does. In 2003, a year before running for president, Kerry’s tax rate was 13.1 percent, versus Romney’s at 13.9 percent in 2010.

Um, In the New Testament, Jesus mentions tithing three times: Luke 11:42; Matthew 23:23 (which includes the comment from Luke) and Luke 18:12 Each time it is a reprimand to the attitude of the Pharisees about tithing. He never instructed his followers to tithe and there is no record of him mentioning the matter again.

Thanks for your facts [in your first post in this thread] about McCain…John Boy, born into wealth, married into more [ trophy wife] wealth, after the first wife was disfigured in a car wreck, and he had a Newt Gingrich-style one-side negotiation divorce. What a raid. At least he has to protect his status as a POW by admitting that torture is a crime, and morally wrong.

McCain is the guy who would have America one heart beat away from being lead by a real [Fox News bimbo] village idiot: Sarah Palin. Even Garrison Keeler did a riff about how McCain must have selected that bimbo based on his failing libido.

The plane crash that put McCain in Hanoi was his third jet crash…any other pilot that had crashed into power lines while under altitude over the beaches of Spain had already been weeded out. Too bad he didn’t listen to ground-to-air missile avoidance lectures, but hey, when you are born a yuppie GOP spawn, you expect a pass.

Kerry was born into wealth, but as a man, of real character, he volunteered for Vietnam, unlike Bush, Cheney, Ashcroft, Beck, Limbaugh, Bortz, and most of the hate radio and GOP electorate frauds. Where was Saxby? Playing golf? At the frat house? Max Cleland volunteered, you fraud, despite what that sleaze Ann Couleter said [for you].

You GOP rich-kissing village idiots keep resenting those Americans like Clinton and Obama who have earned what they have through work, and keep sucking up to the rich. Buy gold, invest with Madoff, vote GOP. You don’t have a clue how to live if Wal-Mart doesn’t get that next delivery and your unlimited plastic charge cards don’t give you Platinum status among the wage slaves. You may learn how low-wage slavery works if I’m the one feeding you, GOP frauds. The least informed in America know what being dumped on is like. Elites are revoltingly simplistic in their greed, and easy to spot.

td, you re an idiot. If you want to worship a born-into-wealth monarchy, move to Britain. Let the rich elites-by-birth eat their jewelry…they certainly would sell off their kids futures to stay “ahead”. What pathetic ‘patriots’.

Of course you don’t care, no one is surprised by that statement because as I have pointed out on numerous occasions when your hypocrisy is so amply demonstrated. You have no consistency of belief, you have no moral center, no ethos, only an abiding racism, bigotry and disdain for anything not white, middle class, and conforming to your narrow, limited world view. You are so predictable with your memes of “anti-American,” ‘’socialist,” and other pox news/tea party rote speech that you and the others like you on this site are caricatures. You’re a joke.
