After declaring U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss “theoretically vulnerable” this week, Public Policy Polling of North Carolina has run out the rest of its Georgia poll, with these highlights:
– Apparently bruised by bitter campaigns over transportation (lost) and charter schools (won), Gov. Nathan Deal’s job approval rating stands at 37 percent among voters – one reason why Deal, moving into his crucial third year as governor, needs a smooth and productive legislative session in January.
The PPP survey declares Deal to be vulnerable if Democrats are able to muster the right candidate in 2014 – a very large “if.” Some hypothetical match-ups: U.S. Rep. John Barrow, 44/40; Kasim Reed (never happen), 47/40; State Sen. Jason Carter, 46/38.
– Likewise, the fiscal cliff debate may be taking its toll on U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson, whose approval rating also stands at 37 percent. But he isn’t up for re-election until 2016.
– Former President Jimmy Carter approve/disapprove rating stands at 55/38. President Barack Obama is at 46 percent approval, matching his Georgia ballot showing in November.
– Chipper Jones should consider politics. The retired Atlanta Braves third-baseman’s job approve/disapprove rating is 57/11.
– Georgia fans outnumber Georgia Tech groupies, 40/17. Which pushes Attorney General Sam Olens’ unfortunate Tweet of last week into irrelevancy.
– 70 percent of those polled thought a new stadium home for the Atlanta Falcons was unnecessary.
– 42 percent of Georgia Republicans said they would be willing to secede from the United States because of President Barack Obama’s re-election. A like number say they wouldn’t. From PPP spokesman Tom Jensen: “I doubt that many Republicans would really secede if they had the choice- not that many people are signing the secession petitions- but their willingness to say they would is a measure of how unhappy they are over the president’s reelection.”

Please, please, please someone grant them their wish (succession)! Let them all fend for themselves! No taxes, no government to torment them or provide services, no viable healthcare options….please Washington please grant them their wish and let them form their own little state in some offbeat territory. Maybe Mexico can grant them some land…..

Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists and Obama supporters, et al: We have stuck together since the late 1950’s for the sake of the kids, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has clearly run its course.
Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what is right for us all, so let’s just end it on friendly terms. We can smile and chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and go our own way.
Here is a model separation agreement:
–Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a similar portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that, it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes.
–We don’t like redistributive taxes so you can keep them.
–You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU.
–Since you hate guns and war, we’ll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA and the military.
–We’ll take the nasty, smelly oil industry and you can go with wind, solar and biodiesel.
–You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore and Rosie O’Donnell. You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all three of them.
–We’ll keep capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart and Wall Street.
–You can have your beloved lifelong welfare dwellers, food stamps, homeless, homeboys, hippies, druggies and illegal aliens.
–We’ll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO’s and rednecks.
–We’ll keep the Bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood.
–You can make nice with Iran and Palestine and we’ll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us.
–You can have the peaceniks and war protesters. When our allies or our way of life are under assault, we’ll help provide them security.
–We’ll keep our Judeo-Christian values.
–You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism, political correctness and Shirley McClain. You can also have the U.N. but we will no longer be paying the bill.
–We’ll keep the SUV’s, pickup trucks and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Volt and Leaf you can find.
–You can give everyone healthcare if you can find any practicing doctors.
–We’ll continue to believe healthcare is a luxury and not a right.
–We’ll keep “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” and “The National Anthem.”
–I’m sure you’ll be happy to substitute “Imagine”, “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing”, “Kum Ba Ya” or “We Are the World”.
–We’ll practice trickle-down economics and you can continue to give trickle up poverty your best shot.
–Since it often so offends you, we’ll keep our history, our name and our flag.
Would you agree to this? If so, please pass it along to other like-minded liberal and conservative patriots and if you do not agree, just hit delete. In the spirit of friendly parting, I’ll bet you answer which one of us will need whose help in 15 years.
Sincerely,
John J. Wall
Law Student and an American
P.S. Also, please take Ted Turner, Sean Penn, Martin & Charlie Sheen, Barbara Streisand, & ( Hanoi ) Jane Fonda with you.
P.S.S. And you won’t have to press 1 for English when you call our country.

A lesson in irony.
The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is actually proud of the fact it is distributing the greatest number of free meals and food stamps ever.
Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us to “Please Do Not Feed the Animals.” Their stated reason for the policy is because the animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not take care of themselves.
Thus ends today’s lesson.

Yea Ill bet they do! Im from Georgia and I love the state but the people….First of all most have never traveled pass Panama City beach! You have people with no insurance but dont want to vote for anyone who will do anything about it. I think a little travel would help open some eyes and minds. (maybe) The biggest problem is ignorance, I know people with degrees , but dont know anything about what is happening in Washington, (and dont want to know anything) I asked some of my relatives why they hated Pres Obama, some of the answers were: He’s a Muslim!, Hes a socialist, He is not an American, when Bush won his second term i asked a friend why she was voting for Bush, she said “Hes going to get those people”, I asked “what people?” and she replied “the ones that attacked us on 9/11. I asked her ” do you mean Saddam Hussien?” she said yes, I said he didnt attack us on 9/11 and she replied “their all the same”. I just dropped the subject! I knew all i needed to know. Anyway I dont think theres any hope of enlightening these people. They are easily brainwashed, and still a very predudiced. I feel a little sorry for them.

“Ramblingbuzz, you’re an idiot. you are aware that on election night, most of the country wad [sic] Red. Obama won due to the big cities.” You are aware that land mass has no right to vote in the US, right? Until the right wing Supreme Court changes the rules and allows corporations to vote, only people can actually cast a ballot. A person who owns 1,000 acres of swampland in south Georgia, only gets one vote, the same as person who lives in a high rise in Atlanta. Also, pb, you might want to look up which polling firm was the most accurate during the past election (hint: it was PPP).

You have a president and an administration that’s voted in because of the ‘free’ welfare and the promise of dropping student loans and giving bailouts to companies then their ceo’s taking large bonuses and bankrupting. Having non-union business shut down in the coal mining operations just so unions can benefit. Administration that gave arms to Mexican drug cartel that killed U.S. employees, they dealt arms to Libya Al Qaeda and it went wrong ’surprise’ and then our U.S. personal was murdered and dragged through the streets of Libya.
Yes you all should be real proud of Obama and his crew.

Plenty of evidence here that Obama has divided the country like never before. He sows discord wherever he goes. Right after his trip to Myanmar (Burma) violent conflict arose between two ethnic groups there—oh, and though he went to try to arrange some mutual trade deals with China, China and 14 other Asian countries including Australia and New Zealand organized a mutual business/trade association and guess who was excluded?

I think this poll of georgia is dead wrong and jim galloway is the water boy of the dems in georgia.
I don’t believe this poll is at all factual with the republicans once again scoring a huge victorys in statewide races in November!
Gov. Deal is bringing jobs to georgia and lowering unemplyment
here in georgia ,as other republicans governors are doing in 29 other states . the dems in 20 states have the highest unemployment rates with texas creating more jobs than any other state.

What a pointless waste of 0s and 1s. A liberal commentary about a “poll” that was taken. Hmmm.
I am a Republican, as are 99% of the people I know. Not one person would support secession. It is a ludicrous notion. One more reason why the AJC is dying (dead), it swung too far to the left.
I conducted a poll of Obama voters and confirmed the theory that Obama voters are unemployed losers waiting for handouts paid for by “taxin’ da rich.” Don’t ask about polling methods.

Yep, weetamoe’s self-appointed role as the Fox News representative on the AJC blogs is humorous.
If not pathetically laughable.
As someone with much more intellectual honesty than he wrote:
The fact is that the divisiveness is almost entirely the Republican’s own creation – they have challenged his status as an American, they have impugned his faith and they have even questioned his loyalty and patriotism. From the very beginning, they have pursued a conscious strategy of refusing to compromise in any way whatsoever, to the point that they have purged any in their own camp who dare to even suggest such a course. (See Lugar, Richard)
But don’t get me wrong, as long as you fake conservatives keep getting trounced like you just did (which makes three out of the past four elections) I am more than content with this divisiveness…

GA is at the bottom in education. The reality is 40% of GA students don’t even graduate from high school. Our level of education keeps many companies out. We have the worst housing market and high unemployment. Our average income is lower than the national average. We have poor infrastructure throughout most of the state. The percentage of people in GA living in poverty is much higher than most blue states. Also, if GA were to secede, the world would suddenly become billions of years younger than it really is in textbooks. And, secession went so well the last time. It is funny because most of them would state that they are patriots. Too bad, it could never happen because poor red states like GA are so dependent on the blue states.
GA needs the blue states more than they need them. What loss it would be for the blue states-lol. Maybe the blue states should secede, and let you drown. It is even more funny when you consider that GA is one of the most prosperous red states. The thought of Alabama seceding has to the the funniest thing I have ever heard. If the blue states seceded, they would still have the 2nd largest economy. If the red states seceded….That is why the red-states rejects are just bluster. They are like dependent children who talk back to their parents but need them to survive. It makes for funny story though. Your rejects put smile on my face.

The PPP poll claiming 55% approval for Jimmy Carter is a knee slapper. Listing SEIU and the Daily Kos as outfits they collaborated with kills any illusion of credibility. According to PPP’s info they are a robo outfit that we all loved so well during the last Presidential election.

In a higher phase of communist society, after the enslaving subordination of the individual to the division of labor, and therewith also the antithesis between mental and physical labor, has vanished; after labor has become not only a means of life but life’s prime want; after the productive forces have also increased with the all-around development of the individual, and all the springs of co-operative wealth flow more abundantly—only then can the narrow horizon of bourgeois right be crossed in its entirety and society inscribe on its banners:
From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs!
