David Shafer, Ronnie Chance new GOP Senate leaders

We’ve received word from Little Ocmulgee State Park down south Georgia, where state Senate Republicans have gathered and elected a new leadership team:

– David Shafer of Duluth beat Bill Cowsert of Athens in the contest for president pro tem, the No. 1 leadership position in the Senate. The current Senate president pro tem, Tommie Williams of Lyons, announced earlier this year that he would not seek another two-year term;

– Senate Majority Leader Chip Rogers of Woodstock withdrew his re-election bid and endorsed Ronnie Chance of Tyrone, the governor’s floor leader, for the position.

– and Cecil Staton won re-election as majority whip.

No vote totals available yet. We’re told that changes in Senate rules – which could determine the extent of Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle’s authority over the chamber – will be tackled next month.

Updated at 5 p.m.: This press release from Senate Majority Leader Chip Rogers shows one of the more obvious face-saving maneuvers that took place today — emphasis mine:

“I am honored to have served four years in leading the Republican Majority. After months of consideration I ultimately decided that the toll of serving my Caucus was taking too much from my family. While I had no challengers for the position of Majority Leader, the decision was still clear to me. Leadership positions should never become permanent and I am very supportive of our new Majority Leader and my good friend, Senator Chance,” said Senator Rogers.

Senator Ronnie Chance, who announced his candidacy after Senator Rogers decided not to run for re-election, applauded the years of service Senator Rogers gave to the Republican Majority.

“I have been honored to support Senator Rogers and appreciate his successful service as our Majority Leader. He is a close personal friend, and after his decision to step-down I was honored to receive his full support. For this I am sincerely grateful,” said Senator Chance.

Chip withdrew his bid? Amazing! Why on earth would his ego allow him to do this?

Chip Rogers got “slimed” in is race against mudslinger Brandon Beach and, evidently, bled over into his leadership role.
The Senate is going to have a hard time having a better spokesperson than Rogers.

Good riddance for Chip Rogers. His days are counted as an elected official. His latest controversy with Agenda 21 surely didn’t bode well with others. He is an embarrassment to our state. Glad he is gone from leadership. Next step, he needs to be challenged once again for re-election. I will gladly contribute to his opponent.

ummmmm…could it have anything to do with the fact that Chip Rogers is in serious need of psych evaluation for Paranoid Delusional thinking, Schizoid type? You know, that whole Agenda 21/Delphi Mind control thing? I mean seriously???? Who votes for these kind of people?

I didn’t think it was possible to get worse leadership in charge of the Senate, but somehow the GOP Senate managed to do it. Look for GBI, FBI, and all sorts of law enforcement agencies to jump all over these guys. The ethical stink just hit pig farm proportions in the Senate.

WOW! Tommie Williams and Chip Rogers both know how to count votes and they knew they couldn’t win so they turn and ran rather than going down in flames. And in Washington, their clone Tom Graves got his butt whipped too. Could it be that the GOP, after getting hammered by Obama, is slowly figuring it out that this Tea Party/Tin Foil Hat Crowd of Agenda 21 kooks just ain’t selling anymore. Great day for Georgia. Great day for America. Williams, Rogers and Graves all shown the door by their own fellow party members. There might be hope for us after all.

Yeah, Ronnie Chance is not an improvement, nor is David Shafer. Chance is a back-room dealer who is only at the Gold Dome to further his private business interests. He is not there out of any sense of public service.

Shafer is just useless, someone who used to head the Republican Liberty Caucus here but now holds to none of the principles of that group.

Good ‘old boys handing it off to more good ‘ole boys, and let’s see how much money we can make. Scum.

Agenda 21 Goobers Unite

November 15th, 2012

Most of these legislator grifters will seize on anything that gives a pay-off with the ignoble low information goober voters. Chip, along the Chips–and his buddies Pearson and others, know they’ve got mind control going with the GOP die-hard-ons.

That a so-called legislator could waste Georgia resources on something as psycho as Agenda 21 fright conferences held in public facilities and paid for by public funds is not just embarrassing, but in a smarter place, it would be either criminal, or a basis to institutionalize the attendees. ANd arrest the presenters and ‘community organizers’.

Great job, Chip, and since your are a fellow GOP grifter, just playing dumb, I hope to see you do the perp walk. I know you are jerk, you know it, but it is fun to see you still exploiting the ignorants of Georgia. Carry it to the bank, and send it overseas. Keep up your work for Communist China, like Mitt, while calling our President the Anti-American. What frauds you are, amongst the dumbest of the dumb. Even SC looks smarter, but for Lindsey’s losing it….

Chip Rogers puts his family first and believes in term limits. Thank you, Senator Rogers, for your service and for mentoring Ronnie Chance to the point that he can try on your big shoes. Do not believe the LIES that Chip was forced to step down. The Caucus was united in support of Chip against Casey Cagle. Chip would have won by acclamation, without opposition. The defeat of Bill Cowsert was not because of Chip and had nothing to do with his decision to spend more time with hs family. No one would have run against Chip. Ronnie was begging him to stay and only agreed to run once Chip made a firm decision. The divide-and-conquer strategy of Cagle was a FAIL. Thank you, Senator Rogers!

LOVE the comparison of the Senate to a trailer park! – truly a bunch of low class trash. Come to think of it that comparison may not be fair to the residents of a trailer park. Chance and Shafer both have plenty of warts. Look to Chance’s hubris to get the better of him with his elevated position and his improper relationships to come to light.
