The Rand Paul solution: Path to citizenship, de-criminalized pot, fewer U.S. military forays
An impressive post-election paragraph from U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., with Politico.com:
….Paul said he’ll return to Congress this week pushing measures long avoided by his party. He wants to work with liberal Democratic Sen. Patrick Leahy and Republicans to eliminate mandatory minimum sentences for pot possession. He wants to carve a compromise immigration plan with an “eventual path” to citizenship for illegal immigrants, a proposal he believes could be palatable to conservatives. And he believes his ideas — along with pushing for less U.S. military intervention in conflicts overseas — could help the GOP broaden its tent and appeal to crucial voting blocs that handed Democrats big wins in the West Coast, the Northeast and along the Great Lakes.

I like how fiscal conservativism and a compromise on budget talks to avoid austerity didn’t make his list. And with the other bills discussed on other blogs that Congress is gearing up to deal with … doesn’t sound like too many elected servants are paying much attention to the end all of our society. Unless they just mentioned it to get reelected.

Low information voters!! Rand Paul is a libertarian conservative (like many TEA party members) so what he is saying now is what he and most libertarian conservatives have been saying all along. The truth is that democrats hate libertarians because democrats are authoritarians.

Marlboro – was a reference to what so many were screaming at as the end of our society, the fiscal cliff. Everyone was talking about it through the elections, and with the exception of 2 Congressmen mentioning it last week, that’s about all I’ve seen or heard about it from Washington.

With the exception of immigration policy, this is more of the same from Rand Paul, which isn’t a bad thing. Paul has always been anti-war and anti-war on drugs. He’s now just trying to get people to pay attention. Keep up the good work, Dr. Paul, as always.

Rand is not saying these thing just to get votes. He has always been pro pot legalization and anti military invasion of countries along with relaxed immigration laws. Nothing new here.
