Fearful of Election Day aftermath, a Woodstock community will lock its gates

Updated at 5:15 p.m. to included comments from Calvin Moss, the Woodstock police chief.

Original: This embarrassing item just appeared on The Caucus, a New York Times blog:

In Woodstock, Ga., about 30 miles north of Atlanta, the president of a homeowners’ association sent an e-mail on Sunday informing residents that the entrance gates would be closed 24 hours a day beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday, out of concern over possible civil unrest after the election.

“I feel it is better to take a position of caution to enhance controlled access to the community until we see what (if any) negative repercussions may occur because of the results of the election,” wrote Bill Stanley, the president of the homeowners’ association at the Cottages of Woodstock, a residential community for people 55 and over.

Here you thought zombies weren’t real. On the other hand, it does send an interesting message to the grandkids: “You’re on your own.”

The NYT quotes Stanley as saying that he was ordering enhanced controlled access to the community on the recommendation of the Woodstock police department.

Added: But we just fielded a call from Calvin Moss, the Woodstock police chief, who said that he has had a conversation with Stanley this afternoon — and Stanley denied getting any such information from the Woodstock police force.

“We have no reason to believe that the election and its aftermath will be anything but peaceful,” Moss said. “Certainly we would give no one that kind of information.”

I’ve bought a supply of white shirts and black pants while I ride my bike around town and my husband is looking for a few more wives……if Romney wins. Now will someone tell me how many grandmothers did Romney really have? I heard it was a lot. Go Vote!

Isn’t it reasonable to worry that Republicans in Woodstock will riot on Tuesday after Mitt loses?

Since a Romney victory is all but assured, we’ll soon find out if obama supporters are sore losers or not. I hope not, but based on the left’s rhetoric, I don’t blame anyone for being prepared.

And the comment from safe is right on target. If something does happen, the same folks in the media that are making fun of the folks in Woodstock will lambast the HOAs for not taking prudent steps. Monday morning quarterback suck!

It’s fun to read all the snarky comments from libs mocking people who would dare take steps to protect themselves from potential threats …all while we are seeing their (lib) brothers and sisters in NJ/NY whining heavily about how little good ole uncle sam has done for their liberal asses a week into the hurricane aftermath.

Snark on oh good, tolerant and all knowing libs. Snark on. Da Gummit will be there to save you. Trust me.

It’s a sure bet that with Barrack Obama as commander and chief we will not be fighting (god forbid) any future wars with bayonets and the finest show horses.

Now the HOA in Woodstock that’s a horse of a different color.

Entrance gates being closed doesn’t mean they are “locked”, preventing cars/residents from driving in. It means you have to have your access card to open the gates. They live in a gated community. Why is it such a big deal? It’s their right to not allow non-residents to roam around. (Gated communities also have to pay to maintain their streets, since the city doesn’t maintain roads once it becomes a private road).

Who am I kidding, your fatass has always been a complete farcical joke. Your ignorant, pathetic ass would not know journalistic objectivity if it bit you on the nose. “Better lock yours doors I think there might be some angry black ’round here somewhere Oh’ Lord Jesus save me from the minorities!”

No, yeah, but seriously. I’m going to post flyers of this neighborhood around low-income housing in Atlanta tomorrow morning so all of the peasant folk know where the Obama “My President is Black” Gucci Mane ElectionFest AfterParty is going to go down. It’s gonna be off the hizzle for shizzle am I right?! Regardless of outcome there’ll be free food (I suggest slow cooked pork with a bit of fried chicken and mashed potatoes… That sounds delicious, I can’t wait) and free alcohol. I’ve got the flyers printed already, purple and gold baby.

Ya’ll are going to learn to love your fellow man. Interracial tolerance party!

Well, most HOA presidents are looking for ways to exert their authority, but even if there IS civil unrest, the outlying areas of Atlanta should be safe – that’s why people move to suburbia – to get away from the trash element in the cities. And all of you laughing at the possibility of unrest, I bet YOU won’t be going to downtown Atlanta – or any other big city – when Obama loses tonight.

We’ll wake up tomorrow and it’ll still be America, and most likely the world will not end. Angry and frightened old white people will still exist, and moronic rants will continue. Four years of crazy culminates with this. Four years of angry rhetoric will no doubt lead to some crazy shooting up some politically related person or entity that offends them.

On the other hand, I don’t think the gangbangers, drug dealers, killers, robbers and disgruntled teenagers care about who represents us when they shoot up the place. That’s our true day to day problem, not which political party we want to steal from us.

The Man that is Mitt ROMNEY THE JOB “CREATOR’s” SOLUTION IS
Let Detroit Go Bankrupt

Romney on “Women’s Rights And Choices Based On Religious Conscience”
http://womeninbusiness.about.com/od/womenspolitics/a/Where-Does-Mitt-Romney-Stand-On-Womens-Issues_2.htm
In the thick of the race to seek the Republican presidential race nomination, the GOP stands accused of engaging in a “war on women,” something the GOP loudly protests at every turn.
But as Shaw Kenawe points out, the GOP’s “determination to make a legal medical procedure more and more difficult for women, and for the presumptive nominee, Willard [Mitt] Romney, to say that one of the first things he would do as president is withdraw all government funding from Planned Parenthood, an organization that serves the health needs of poor women who are under insured or who have no insurance at all.”
Jennifer Epstein (Politico.com) reminds us of Romney’s public position on women’s rights. ” Romney’s statement that he would ‘get rid’ of Planned Parenthood and his support for a congressional measure to give any employer the chance to opt out of covering any health expense for “moral reasons.”
Marie Diamond also shared insights about Romney’s ambiguity on choice issues, “Although he claimed, ‘I would like to see the Supreme Court return this right to the states,’ he has recently pledged to push for federal abortion restrictions … Romney said he would expand a Bush-era rule that allows doctors to deny women access to contraceptives.”

Igor Volsky wrote an article (2011) about Romney’s intentions if he became president. “In the final days of the Bush administration, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) adopted a “conscience rule” permitting federally funded health care providers to opt out of health care services they found objectionable.” President Obama reversed the rule that, “could allow practitioners to deny women access to commonly used methods of birth control like ‘oral contraceptives, emergency contraception, and the IUD.’”

Mitt Romney has pledged to restore and strengthen the conscience protection. “We have to allow people to practice their faith and when they have a matter of conscience that they can’t participate in some form of activity which violates their faith, then they should be able to abide by their faith, particularly when there are plenty of opportunities for people to have a service provided.”

8 years of mismanagement of the US economy requires 8 years of fixing. The people criticizing Obama for not fixing the economy in 4 years need to stop drinking the Kool-aid and use their common sense. When Obama took office, we were losing 600,000 jobs a MONTH! When Obama took office, banks were going BANKRUPT. When Obama took office, we were spending BILLIONS on a war in IRAQ. When Obama took office, Wall Street was losing BILLIONS of dollars. When Obama took office, the value of our houses were under the prices we BOUGHT them. When Obama took office, BIN LADEN was still threatening the US with MORE terrorism. And when OBAMA took office, the American CAR industry was going BANKRUPT.

What did Obama achieve in 4 years?

We are NO LONGER LOSING 600,000 jobs, but NOW we have growth in JOB CREATION bringing the UNEMPLOYMENT f
rom 10 percent to 8 percent. He added FOUR MILLION JOBS during the 4 years which is a HUGE CHANGE from the 600,000 jobs we were LOSING in 2008.

The Banks are PROFITABLE under his presidency. The AMERICAN CAR industry was SAVED by OBAMA , although ROMNEY said LET THE AMERICAN CAR INDUSTRY GO BANKRUPT.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/19/opinion/19romney.html?_r=0

Obama ended the WAR IN IRAQ, AND KILLED OSAMA BIN LADEN. The Housing Market is going back to the way it was because of the OBAMA’s presidency. And finally, the HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANIES CAN NO LONGER REFUSE YOU INSURANCE FOR PRE-EXISTING CONDITION.

And this is only in 4 YEARS. AS I SAID, 8 YEARS OF DAMAGE REQUIRES 8 YEARS OF FIXING.

Repeating myself here but this is a completely bogus and actually irresponsible story. I have relatives that live in that community and it’s nothing like it’s being portrayed. The leaving the gates closed issue has been a popular topic for the community of SENIORS for some months now. Nothing to do with the election. Rummy yellow journalism at it’s finest and quite probably more trouble than it’s worth. Just scare the devil out of a bunch of harmless old folks why don’t you.
