John Barrow: ‘I supported Obama 85 percent of the time’

U.S. Rep. John Barrow, D-Augusta, is always at his most vulnerable when he attempts private conversations with his fellow Democrats.

In 2010, it was a radio ad aimed at African-American audiences in which Barrow promised to work “hand-in-hand” with Barack Obama.

This week, GOP challenger Lee Anderson is making hay with a fund-raising letter sent out by Barrow in which the congressman boasts of voting with his party 85 percent of the time – muddying the message of his latest TV ad, which proclaims his independence. Here’s the passage in question:

As for the 15 percent of the time that Barrow didn’t vote with his Democratic colleagues, the National Rifle Association cited one instance in its Tuesday endorsement of the Democratic incumbent:

Barrow voted to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with congressional subpoenas related to the deadly Operation Fast and Furious scandal, and voted for an amendment to prevent the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives from circumventing the will of Congress by centralizing records of thousands of Americans’ long gun purchases.

The only reason this guy may keep his seat is because 1. He has a D behind his name, and 2. People who think Anderson is a yahoo will not vote for him. My guess is that he will become a turncoat after the election if he wins.

Obama is dishonest

Typical Democrat……….say whatever he needs to in order to get elected. Statements & positions change depending on the given audience.

I can forgive Congressman Barrow for straying from the path of righteousness on occasion.
I do wish he would vote with the President and the Democratic Party 100% of the time.

But I have to accept the number of ignorant, backwoods, hillbilly, cracker, inbred rednecks that keep being drawn into his district and the distorted expectations they have for his performance.

Maybe in reality he sees what intelligent people see. If you look at what has happened to this country, the deficit, the coddling of free loaders, coddling to illegal immigrants, the failure to be strong in foreign policy, apologizing for America….there is no way that Obama should be even in the race for the election. BUT…Obama will win because of the 47% who rely on government assistance and/or pay no income tax and vote for him because he has the same color skin as them. These people are low on intellect and could care less about matters of the country that really matter. They don’t necessarily want jobs…they just want their check from the government. I heard someone say it best…”Poor people have been voting Democrat for decades…and their still poor.”
