If voters were required to be married, Republican Mitt Romney wouldn’t be sweating the November outcome of the race for president, the Gallup organization says this morning.
Married registered voters prefer Romney over Democratic incumbent Barack Obama by 54 to 39 percent, according to data collected by the polling group this summer:
Nonmarried Americans strongly prefer President Obama to rival Mitt Romney, 56% to 35%; this group includes those who are single, in a domestic partnership, widowed, divorced, and separated. Support for President Obama varies among these subgroups — those who are single (61%), are in a domestic partnership (62%), or are separated (58%) are especially supportive of the president, while the divorced (51%) are somewhat less so, with those who are widowed breaking even.

Other Republicans may be critical Mitt Romney for piling on President Barack Obama in the midst of this week’s eruption of protests in the Mideast. But Saxby Chambliss, the ranking member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, won’t be one of them.
Said Chambliss in a Thursday interview with Denis O’Hayer of WABE (90.1FM):
”Look, we are less than 60 days out from the election of the next president…This is a heated campaign, and I think it is incumbent upon anybody that wants to be commander-in-chief to speak on matters of national security when times of emergency arise. That’s exactly what Governor Romney did. I won’t even go into what he said, because that part of it is immaterial. The fact is that he gave a response, and his response was very strong.”
At the time, the facts on the ground in Libya were yet to be determined, O’Hayer noted. Should Romney have waited? Chambliss’ answer:
”Well, gosh, that’s what politics is about – and that’s what leadership is about now. I don’t think he was out of line for making a statement. I have more respect for him making a statement, and saying what he said, than frankly, I do for the president, who issued a strong statement and then went to Las Vegas to campaign.”

Larry Peterson of the Savannah Morning News, burdened with the only candidate contest in Georgia with national implications, says U.S. Rep. John Barrow, D-Augusta, isn’t nearly as proud of his association with President Barack Obama’s 2009 stimulus package as he used to be:
[A]s recently as February, the accomplishments listed on the website included the following:
“Standing with President Obama to pass the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which has already brought over $200 million in funding for roads, hospitals, schools, transportation, and housing to communities in the 12th district.”
… So why was the language on the website that touted the stimulus bill dropped from his list of legislative feats?
“The stimulus just wasn’t a high priority issue for this election cycle,” [Barrow spokesman Richard Carbo] said. “We have other matters we would like to talk about.”

Perhaps it is unsurprising that Senator Chambliss, whose major qualification for office is that he gives good face, should think that “a response…a strong response” is the only thing called for by a presidential candidate when confronted with a foreign policy and national security emergency while claiming that the nature of that response is “immaterial”.
This may explain why he felt free to make “strong” – albeit vicious and untruthful – slurs against Max Cleland in their Senate race, and why he gives away the content of his”immaterial” votes to the highest bidders.

Governor Romney’s comments on the events in the Middle East were strikingly different than what has been heard from the Kenyan over the past three and a half years. Governor Romney said nothing that could be considered “appeasing”, which is diametrically opposed to everything Hussein has said and done. Romney understands that we are engaged in a war (not of our choosing) that must be waged and won if we are to survive. There are NO peace-loving muslims; they are taught from the Quran that non-believers are to be converted, enslaved or killed. There is no fourth option!
Perhaps, Hussein’s appeasement is best understood in the context of his speaking of “my muslim faith” during the 2008 campaign.
Come on folks, wake up! This ain’t rocket science!

However, the Millions upon millions of hard WORKING AMERICAN WOMEN are not impressed by MITT at ALL. They see Mitt as a bumbling self centered idiot, A CAD, an angry reactionary, A Man without a backbone or convictions, WEAK, Not sexy, strange, weird, stranger, not to be trusted, haters of women, LIAR, dishonest,
selfish, CHEAP, Selfish, arrogant, uncaring, cold fish, robot, not trustworthy, not a lover of animals, screwball, Pretender, not thoughtful, fearful, panty boy, scary, frightening, peculiar, oddball, ignorant, uninformed, uninteresting, bizarre, eccentric, unusual, proud, far out (a bad way), abnormal, robot, not human, no compassion, mean spirited, aberrant and finally a MAN they would never choose as a HUSBAND, LOVER or the FATHER of their children!

cc: your comments are disrespectful and have a racist overturn. President Obama is not only of
Kenyan descent, but also of Irish discent-he did have a mother afterall. Referring to him as Hussein says more about your attitude than anything the President has ever done or said. You have to be watching way too much Faux News or you won’t have this hateful attitude. It is one thing to disagree with the President and his policies [which are strikingly similar to Dubya's]. it is another to lace criticism with uncalled for and unsubstantiated beliefs.
As far as muslins are concerns, they have never known what it is to live in a free society; most have lived under dictatiorsships of one kind or another and they just assume that the “government” approves of this film as nothing is ever release without government approval in their cultures. It is going to take a long time before the Muslim world catches up to the rest of us when it comes to freedom and self-expression and limited government.
Diplomacy is not the same thing as appeasement. I wouldn’t say we are appeasing anyone in Afghanistan tor Iraq. And, for your information, President Obama is Methodist or christian if you prefer.

Despite the fact she could not extend that same devotion and concern for the many
poor and uninsured women of America in her failed attempts. Unfortunately, As a result,Karen wasted a very great and unique opportunity for her to contribute successfully to herself and the Komen Foundation. A once very successful Foundation who opened and extended a door for her, whereas other Corporations would have refused Karen solely based on her lack of higher education & experience level and lack of job knowledge she was being charged with.

Rockerbabe @ 10:47 am – Last night I learned something very interesting about the postings of CC. This is an individual who is very unhappy with his own life and station.
Unfortunately, he resides in his own self created HELL of torment. He comes here to share all of the vile hatred and contempt that he feels about himself.
That hatred is deflected upon the success of President OBAMA. His self hatred is born out of a mindset that this Black Man or any Black Man should not have or deserve any level of success higher than his own. This mindset is shared by many of the posters here and this why they speak out in such vile vitriol hatred. These feelings have nothing to do with the issues to be discussed, but everything with their personal frustrations and disappointing failures within their own lives.
I have decided for myself, I will ignore and avoid feeding into their own self created misery and let them carry that baggage alone. I would suggest that many of the others do the same. in your banter with CC and others like TD, there is no THERE….

Most conservatives support the decisions of the Roberts court.
The Roberts court says there is a right to lie.
The Roberts court says corporations are people.
The Roberts court believes fox news has a right to lie with no consequences.
Most pathological liars accuse others of being liars to deflect blame from themselves.
Mitt Romney’s preemptive debate strategy appears to be to accuse Obama of being a liar so Romney can say whatever he wants.
If you can’t know which side is telling the truth, you can at least know which side wants the right to lie without consequences.
From this day forward, if you are a conservative, I shall assume you to be a liar until proven otherwise, since your entire ideology seems to depend on lies

Why is it, I am not surprised by the comments from Sen.Chambliss. After ALL he and Mitt share a common thread in America. When it came a time for them to put on the military uniform and defend America. They both declined…Saying…No Thanks America! You will have to pass me by. I have other much more important things to do than to waste my time trying to defend you.
Just move alone, until you find another American who is willing to sacrifice his life and DIE for you. I have no interest in such plans. For Saxby it was ” I HURT MY LEG”. For Mitt it was ” I must go to Paris France to perform missionary work for the Mormon church to all of the POOR HEATHENS that are running all around Paris.”
Neither at any time afterwards did either one, volunteer for America’s military after their Leg was Healed or a return from that all important missionary work in the very fine and lovely Paris France. The both of them were just TOO busy with their own lives and besides the WAR was over!
We Now, have Saxby who savagely in his political campaign, successfully unseated a PURPLE HEART double AMPUTEE Veteran “WAR HERO” Sen. Max Cleland of that same Vietnam war he himself passed on by claiming the Veteran HERO supported the likes of USAMA BIN LADEN. A MUDERER of 3,000 Americans!
We now have MITT who used a NAVY warship in Norfolk,VA as a prop to introduce his Vice President while constantly screaming and shouting that he “MITT” will be a far better defender of AMERICA than the very President that executed the ORDER to seek and destroy one Bin Laden and which he successfully accomplished along with the destruction of untold number of his associates in the past 3 years alone.
Then just two weeks ago during his acceptance speech for President of The Republican Party, Mitt purposely and with great intent, refused to even mention nor thank the many sacrifices of our military men and their families ,who have fought and died continuously over the past 11 years.
Mitt then makes and continues to make loud BELLICOSE statements and CLAIMS of how he intends as President to send America’s Men & WOMEN to WAR. Send them to WAR in IRAN,SYRIA, resend them to IRAQ,and keep them in AFGHANISTAN.
Now Mitt has (5) FIVE military aged Healthy sons. do any of you think that any of those five would fight and defend America on foreign soil?
I Think NOT………..!

Core conservative ideologies are religion, individual merit and markets.
Markets depend on enlightened competitive decisions. You cannot make decisions in a market when everyone is lying.
You cannot have a meritocracy when all the tests are rigged.
You cannot tell the difference between the still small voice and your own thoughts if you cannot be honest with yourself.
If you must split hairs on what racism means to avoid being a racist, you are a liar
If you say you care about fraud, but refuse to fund the courts or the agencies that enforce conquences you are a liar.
If you say you care about vote fraud but won’t pay for ids for the poor to be able to vote, then you are a liar.
If you attack all fact checkers that are not paid for by your allies, you are a liar.
If you must attack science because it is making your business earn slightly less profit, you are a liar.
Both sides lie.
Conservatism cannot exist or throve without lies.
If you are a conservative you are a liar.

I have my own mind. I am college-educated, attractive, and poised. Yes, I support the Romney-Ryan ticket. I don’t understand why the first line of attack from Democrats and/or liberals on conservative Republican women is always regarding to their good looks. Are you jealous that those in the DNC tend to not bath or shave their legs? Also, if you check on the economy, states with Republican governors are doing better right now that those under Democratic leadership. Also, regarding Romney’s statement on Libya, his first statement (which caused the initial liberal media uproar) was only regarding the embassy’s first statement (which seemed apologetic to those assaulting them and was thought to be coming straight from the administration). That was appropriate. Now that it is a campaign issue, Romney has every right, duty even, to address it and tell how he would handle it. That being said, I am glad that the POTUS is sending warships and military to Libya to secure the area. I am glad that apparently communications with the Libyan government appear to be fruitful where they are addressing security issues and have arrested at least some of those thought to be responsible. I will give Pres. Obama (ultimately though Hillary Clinton is probably more responsible) credit where credit is due. The debate question will revolve around what to do for the long-term future of the area and dealing with terrorism as groups upstart and restart. I will look forward to hearing those answers.

Yet in every case. In every case when one looks under the thin layer of all that BRAVADO. We always find a tiny, little, scared chicken of a Man, who when it was his turn gave every excuse imaginable, as to why they can’t or should not GO to fight and defend America.
They are Never the Brave and honorable Men that have served and defended America. For those MEN do not take such claims lightly. When they use those words, that action is soon followed for all to see.

Mitt Romney, on his own policy webpage, sees lower-class Americans as “Human Capital in a 21st Century Workforce.” He does not see us as people with souls. This plays out in his military policies, his diplomatic strategies, and his non-support of anything sounding like a union. Americans, including the majority of the Republican party, who are not in his income bracket and social sphere will always be a servant-class to him.

It was basically “you are wrong, shut up”, and to start calling them names (racist, homophobe, or the ever useful INTOLERANT!!) and expect people to shut up and go away,. And since the media was the “source of truth”, people who in their heart knew they were right, had to go away and shut up.

I wholeheartedly agree. I find his let’s review all of our options and then decide what to to approach refreshing. So interesting that the Repubs talk about how we’re still in Afganistan, that we’ve given an exit date, and yet continue to try to find ways to get us back into other wars. This “leading from behind” crap and warhawk mentality is getting on my nerves.
The Repubs constantly claim we are a Christian nation, yet the most they will do if offended is send a bunch of emails complaining about how is being pushed out of our country. No Repub president has attempted to reverse Roe v Wade. And based on many message boards, they would just assume shoot you than pray for you. The hypocrisy sometimes overwhelms me.
But when people actually take their religion seriously; who don’t put it down when it’s inconvenient and revere their prophets we want to get bent out of shape when they react. I’m not saying that killing is the answer. I’m simply saying that they are more honest, more dedicated to their beliefs than many of the Christians in this country.

We all recognize that America’s (USA) education infrastructure is vital to our economic success and is critical to our national security. Romney/Ryan has produced a policy paper on their educational plans. What is not said is that the plan is not going to be funded. The Romany/Ryan plan focuses on for profit colleges and reduction in graduate school support. To meets his goals, at least a 40% reduction in college aid will be implemented. What does this mean for our number one competitive advantage? That is, our colleges and universities? Simply put, it will mean that many if not most colleges will be hit hard. They will be required to layoff teachers and cut back on critical programs — engineering, science and graduate studies. This will have a long term impact on the economy, and will increase the number of foreign visas to staff the industries of the future. Jobs will not go to our citizens.
If you are a Republican, Democrat, Independent, etc., you need to alert your colleges and universities to engage them in fighting the gutting of America’s long term economic educational infrastructure.

Further on Max Cleland:
“According to the citation, he “distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous action …. When the battalion command post came under a heavy enemy rocket and mortar attack, Capt. Cleland, disregarding his own safety, exposed himself to the rocket barrage as he left his covered position to administer first aid to his wounded comrades. He then assisted in moving the injured personnel to covered positions. Continuing to expose himself, Capt. Cleland organized his men into a work party to repair the battalion communications equipment which had been damaged by enemy fire. His gallant action is in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service, and reflects great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.”
The siege of Khe Sanh was no picnic! If you doubt me, locate someone who was there and ask them!
That being said, I disagreed completely with Cleland politically and never voted for him. At least one dim was a detractor and that was none other than the most powerful dim in Georgia at that time, Tom (Potato Nose) Murphy. It was Murphy who saw to it that a rather salacious audio tape of Cleveland in a telephone conversation with a woman was well circulated.
