Ann Romney: No ’storybook’ marriage

TAMPA — Some passages from Ann Romney’s speech tonight about her husband Mitt, who just officially became the Republican nominee for president:

”I read somewhere that Mitt and I have a ‘storybook marriage.’ Well, in the storybooks I read, there were never long, long, rainy winter afternoons in a house with five boys screaming at once. And those storybooks never seemed to have chapters called MS or breast cancer.

“A storybook marriage? No, not at all. What Mitt Romney and I have is a real marriage.”

This is a likely closing passage:

”This is the man who will wake up every day with the determination to solve the problems that others say can’t be solved, to fix what others say is beyond repair. This is the man who will work harder than anyone so that we can work a little less hard.

“I can’t tell you what will happen over the next four years. But I can only stand here tonight, as a wife, a mother, a grandmother, an American, and make you this solemn commitment:

“This man will not fail.

“This man will not let us down.

“This man will lift up America!”

I thought Mrs. Romney’s speech very positive and uplifting, a radical departure to what I’ve become accustomed to hearing for the past four years. Mrs. Romney will be a wonderful First Lady beginning in January, 2013.

will your President cancel his convention and head down to NO to supervise the cleanup?

Of course he will be there, President Obama believes in saving American lives, not flying over the city and doing nothing, sit back and watch a real Commander and Chief take charge and run the show.

5 hours of bashing Gov and the President at the white convention, lets see how many of these rep gov tommorow beg for federal funds from the President.

Dee says: “I will not vote for Mitt. And, I think as you do about his wife; she whines and is obviously not a very positive person. I still don’t trust him, and now think even less of her.”

She whines how? And what was not positive, and why do you “now” think less of her? You seem a bit short on specifics. BTW, I seriously doubt you’re a republican either.

“Victims destiny”= Democrats. This is probably the best definition I think I have ever heard about the typical liberal. Most you libs always claim to be a victim of something, always have an excuse for failure and need the government to bail you out . Life is not fair and you are a victim of racism, victim of poverty or a victim of something else and that is why you can not succeed.

Yes victims destiny is the new term for liberals

What a disappointing burst of hot air (at least it wasn’t tinged with partially digested cabbage)!

Unhealthy overweight people, mostly caucasian (mostly, mostly, mostly) all cheering to hollow nonsense (blaming teachers and unions in the same breath).

But when I look a man in the face and believe he is a ‘carnie-act’ I just can’t vote for him. The new ads for him expect us to believe that he is ‘unlikeable’ because he is a ‘CEO’. I am an accountant and can etest that most CEOs have a good bit of something going in the personality dept. They didn’t just get there because for their brains.

What is wrong with all of you? Taco Bell, Kenyans, racism, liars, etc? I have no idea how anyone thinks we are doing better and moving forward. Where does this craziness come from? Just because you want to believe one side or the other does not make it true. Our economy is in a mess, I don’t care if you are a democrat, republican, black, white, poor, or rich. We are in a MESS. We ARE NOT GETTING BETTER and more time on the same path WILL NOT HELP. Ann Romney did a fine job tonight and is a very nice lady…so what, that does not fix the economy. I look at this like I look at picking my doctor, I do not care if he is arrogant or rich as long as he can make me better. He does not have to be likeable to save my life and I will pick competence over friendly any day. I don’t believe in socalism and therefore I will not vote for Obama and I hope that Gov Romney can come across with his promises. You can’t believe one thing you read anywhere by either side or any of the media, but I do know my family is struggling and this Obama way is making it worse.

Ann Romney is a nice lady, just like Laura Bush. Flashback: “Brownie, you’re doing a heck of a job.” How many Dixiecrats know the name of our highly qualified director of FEMA under Obama, who is fully capable of handling whatever Isaac does to the Gulf Coast? Crickets chirping.

As we near the anniversary of Katrina, let’s give a salute to General Russel Honoré. Dixiecrats tried revisionist history by calling him the “Raging Cajun,” when in fact he is a Hardcore Creole who graduated from an HBCU.

Obama should take responsibility for $3 trillion of debt. Boehner and McConnell have shirked their for the other $13 trillion, Romney will claim that he has to wait until he is elected to lay out his plan. So what happens to his plan if he isn’t? Do you think B&M will go with it anyway? BTW, whatever happened to McCain/Palin’s economic plan?

I suppose that Janine Turner’s speaking was to represent single moms — by virtue (pun intended) of an affair with a married man? And, Sen. Ayotte, who has never worked outside of government, is the I-built-it-all-by-myself, small business lady due to her husband’s business helped along by her government paychecks and a SBA loan? If I couldn’t find humor in Republican hypocrisy, I suspect that I could cry my face orange too.

Having MS, cancer, and raising five children may not have been storybook. Having MS, cancer and raising five children, and losing your health insurance and family income after Willard bankrupted your husband’s company, is a NIGHTMARE.

Since when is military service by the nominee, the nominee’s children/grandchildren, etc. a requirement? I served in the military & I can state that 99% of all fellow service men/women are not fit to be president.

Sounds like the GOP is promoting a dependent entitlement society. Just imagine the right-wing hissy-fit if Michelle Obama said that exact same thing.
