Ann Romney: No ’storybook’ marriage

TAMPA — Some passages from Ann Romney’s speech tonight about her husband Mitt, who just officially became the Republican nominee for president:

”I read somewhere that Mitt and I have a ‘storybook marriage.’ Well, in the storybooks I read, there were never long, long, rainy winter afternoons in a house with five boys screaming at once. And those storybooks never seemed to have chapters called MS or breast cancer.

“A storybook marriage? No, not at all. What Mitt Romney and I have is a real marriage.”

This is a likely closing passage:

”This is the man who will wake up every day with the determination to solve the problems that others say can’t be solved, to fix what others say is beyond repair. This is the man who will work harder than anyone so that we can work a little less hard.

“I can’t tell you what will happen over the next four years. But I can only stand here tonight, as a wife, a mother, a grandmother, an American, and make you this solemn commitment:

“This man will not fail.

“This man will not let us down.

“This man will lift up America!”

WHAT?

No “I’m really proud of my country for the first time in my adult lifetime”?

No “we’re a country that is “just downright mean”?

What a delightful change! Mrs. Romney will make a great First Lady beginning in January 2013!

Until you experience racism you have no clue what Mrs. Obama is talking about”

This man, will cut education, this man will cut medicaid that you idiots on the right have paid in to.

This man will have poor, middle class whites boys dying in syria, oh yes this man will cut welfare for the millions of whites that are on it, this man and I know what the middle class feels like because we have money all over the world.

We should all be proud of Ann Romney if she beomes the First Lady……..she is a class act.

America would be fortunate to have Mitt Romney as President and Ann Romney as the First Lady!

The race baiting Dems/Libs on these blogs are simply embarrassing the Democratic Party.

Forget the ‘racism’: I’m not going to play that game anymore. It has been a tool for the obama sycophants since the beginning of the 2008 campaign and used after the coronation to deflect criticism. It is an over-used term that has no relevance. You make assumptions about what President Romney will do and he won’t even be sworn in until January, 2013.

Have you gone to his website to look at his positions and plans, or have you relied on what you have heard others say?

I am sure Mrs. Obama and the rest of the millions of blacks have never experience any racism it is in their minds, denial is the first sign of people that have no clue.

I have looked up Mitt and Paul records, they really make women pride, I mean there positions is why the convention looks like America back in the 1950’s and you guys had to import some latinos from another country just to keep face, make sure you look at the Dem convention next week and see what America looks like”””’

You persist with the racism. If you can’t post to me without that, no further discussion will endue.

The bit about returning to the 1950’s has been used several times lately on these blogs. A logical person can only surmise that this is one of the ‘talking points’ now used by libs.

I am sure Mrs. Romney is a nice woman who is deferential to her husband. She was betrothed to him while in High School. She has known no other life. I don’t believe she has ever had a job. She has spoken publicly at a Mom’s for Mitt meeting last week that she absolutely does not believe that women should get paid equally as men for equal work. Because men have been out there longer and they deserve it. And in fact, she thinks that if women want to work outside the home , they should be happy with whatever they get paid because they are getting to do what they want. I am sure that 5 sons on a rainy day wasn’t that tough unless it was the nannies’ day off and the cook had the flu. Of course, they could always drive over to the Club and get a quick meal if the chauffeur didn’t have the day off, too. She gets no sympathy from me with her illnesses. Many women of lesser means have had the same diseases and their husbands were off fighting in a war for this country. I can’t help remembering that in 5 generations in the Romney family – not ONE veteran. Amazing. But I digress. Perhaps her sons will volunteer for the next war and not get a missionary exemption or whatever they are calling a rich man’s son’s exemption these days.

My name has been used several times previously. The bigger deal I made of it, the more it was done. I accept that as a hazard and I don’t let it ruffle my feathers.

I am a ’senior’, but try not to be cranky. If I come across that way, I guess it’s just my normal abrasive personality.

When in doubt and have no answers cut and run, I am sure Mitt can run on this record as gov of Mass, after all their state was 47 out of 50 creating jobs, what better spoke person could you have in Ann Romney for the working women.

I mean how smart are rep women, Paul voted against the Ledbetter Act and Mitt was to coward to give a opinion both wanted to shut down Plan Parent hood, yep these people really care about middle class America””””

There are thousands upon thousands of you libs that used a 2-S deferment or went to Canada in order to avoid serving in Vietnam. In fact, a great many dim politicians did the same thing.

By the way, how do you like your BRAND NEW MAGIC UNDERWEAR?

I expect Mrs. Romney to say nice things about her husband and I don’t doubt that he is a great husband, father, grandfather and father-in-law. But so is my brother-in-law; and I wouldn’t vote for him to be president, either!

Romney is a habitual liar about welfare work requirements being eliminated and about the president raiding medicare. He may very well get to be president but he will not have earned it.

A party that has to plot to keep people from voting is not worthy to represent the highest office in the country. They have admitted that there is not a problem with voter fraud yet they insist on passing laws that will make it difficult for certain populations to acquire their ID’s. If that were not the goal, any photo ID with one’s likeness would do. If the goal is to see if I am who I say I am, then a photo on my smartphone should suffice.

I’m starting to believe that the blues are getting a bit desperate over the election. At the moment, polls are starting to swing a bit in favor of the republicans, and I am starting to believe that the liberals are just finding out that they will probably go into November behind in the polls.

You must read the entire article, not just the headline!

“the president raiding medicare”

I would suggest you research this topic. The phrasing may not be correct, but I assure you the impact of this is being felt by senior citizens on Medicare – particularly utilizing the insurance option known as Medicare Advantage. These “cuts” are certain to have much more devastating effects on senior citizens in 2013, 2014 and beyond.

From Wikipedia: “Joseph Smith Jr. said that when he was seventeen years of age an angel of God, named Moroni, appeared to him, and said that a collection of ancient writings, engraved on golden plates by ancient prophets, was buried in a nearby hill in Wayne County, New York. The writings described a people whom God had led from Jerusalem to the Western Hemisphere 600 years before Jesus’ birth. According to the narrative, Moroni was the last prophet among these people and had buried the record, which God had promised to bring forth in the latter days….”

Sounds like a storybook to me.

When Kennedy ran for President, I remember the controversy because he was (gasp) Catholic. Many people were sure he would make no decision without consulting the Pope. There were even jokes about the building of a tunnel between the White House and the Vatican.
