Republicans shift their Tampa convention to Tuesday

The Republican National Convention will come to order on Monday, then immediately adjourn to clear the way for Isaac. Here’s the memo that just arrived:

MEMO

DATE: August 25, 2012

FROM: RNC Chairman Reince Priebus @Reince

TO: Interested Parties

RE: RNC Convention

Due to the severe weather reports for the Tampa Bay area, the Republican National Convention will convene on Monday August 27th and immediately recess until Tuesday afternoon, August 28th, exact time to follow.

Our first priority is ensuring the safety of delegates, alternates, guests, members of the media attending the Republican National Convention, and citizens of the Tampa Bay area. RNC Convention officials and the Romney campaign are working closely with state, local and federal officials, as well as the Secret Service, to monitor Tropical Storm Isaac and preserve Florida’s emergency management resources. Officials have predicted participants may encounter severe transportation difficulties due to sustained wind and rain.

The Republican National Convention will take place and officially nominate Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, and the Party has other necessary business it must address. We also are remaining in constant contact with state and federal officials and may make additional schedule alterations as needed.

The Convention staff is working around-the-clock to ensure the delegations housed in storm-impacted areas have alternative housing if needed. The Committee on Arrangements will provide additional information to delegates and alternate delegates who are affected by Isaac by Sunday morning. We will also provide guidance to those delegates and alternate delegates who may encounter travel difficulties due to the storm.

We will begin issuing revised convention programming as early as Sunday.

We have an experienced team that will ensure changes are operationally smooth and create as little disruption as possible. The most important concern is safety, but our Convention program will proceed.

A message to America from the Republican Party…OUR Platform is OUR GUIDE. what is written in it is our true and uncompromising long held beliefs. Everything that is written in that Platform is a Goal awaiting to be achieved, legislated and passed into Law. How our intent is to govern this Nation based on those written beliefs. Anything that is said to the contrary is not True.

No Matter Mitt or Paul says………

A moment to cherish: The fat white men standing on the roof of the Tampa Convention Center holding signs asking for “Help” while the rest of the country, especially residents of New Orleans, says, “They should have gotten out.”

Not that anyone should wish them ill…

Bernie @ 2:06p.m.;

I was not aware that you served in ‘Nam. What outfit? Let us know and a couple of us may have served in the same outfit, e.g., Army, USMC, etc.) and we can get away from this humdrum and share some stories. You did serve in ‘Nam, didn’t you? Must have or you wouldn’t call out Saxby the way you did.

There will be a losing party but it will be the dims. Nothing the Kenyan is doing is helping. He’s losing ground and Romney is gaining ground. Romney will peak at precisely the right tme. Barry and Michelle would like you to attend their packing party in January, date to be announced. They will have to be gone when Romney takes the Oath of Office because he will go to the White House shortly afterward to prepare for the various inaugural balls. You are NOT invited to those!

So funny. What would the republicans be saying if a hurricane was blowing away a convention of any group of people they see as “sinners”. This couldn’t happen to a better bunch of people. And smart too. Hey, lets have our national convention in Tampa the last week of August! That way if a hurrican is approaching the Gulf at the hieght of hurricane season, we are almost sure to be affected.

James — The last time Tampa was hit by a hurricane was 1960 (Hurricane Donna). On the other hand, Charlotte got whomped by Hurricane Hugo in September 1989. Be careful what you wish for. And the end of August is hardly the height of hurricane season.

FYI,

“the peak of activity is between the middle of August and early October.’

‘Hurricane Katrina hit the east coast of Florida on Thursday 25th August 2005. It then intensified as it moved through the Gulf of Mexico and changed course and was projected to hit New Orleans. Hurricane Katrina made landfall on the coast of Mississippi and Louisiana on Monday 29th August”

The good Lord could do much more than simply sending a Cat 1 or Cat 2 hurricane in the vicinity of Tampa (all of the computer models confirm the concentrated winds will be well WEST of Tampa)……..do not under estimate………IF he truly wanted to make a statement; I can assure you his statement would be more impactful than this minor event.

Everything happens for a reason……this hurricane is simply drawing more attention to the RNC.

Too many people are simply over-reacting and the Kool-Aid drinking ultra-lefties are making this into more than it really is for political reasons. I suppose some things never change.

It will all be over after the voters actually learn about Romney & Ryan and listen to the truth regarding how they plan to govern when elected……..Obama and company will have essentially no chance of being re-elected (except for stealing the election with massive voter fraud); eventually all of the Obama lies and deception will catch up with him. I just hope a significant percentage of people use thier brains and vote based on what is best for America. Casting a vote for Obama is NOT what is best for America.

Over & Out………..I will not respond to any of the useless responses/attacks to this post. Have fun making fools of yourselves and the Democratic Party in general!

Whenever the losing party gets around to their 15 minutes on TV, they will face the last few hours of questions on former Congressman akin (they will be achen’ to stop talking about him by then) and then it’s on to continuing improvements in the economy, people finally getting their overcharge/rebate checks from their health insurance carriers (thanks Mr. President) and the upbeat news on housing starts.

Have you wrong-wingers really forgotten how bad the shrub years were?
Would any of you in their right minds (realizing that diminishes the count) want to go back to a daily loss of jobs and household wealth?

The hate emanating from the fringe 5% on both the left and right is palpable. Whatever happened to reasonable discourse. There is much middle ground. Political discussion has become a lot like advertising; hyperbole and half truths or outright lies about the other party. The end justifying the means.

cc @ 7:38 pm – I do not talk with the likes of YOU!…You are one never to be trusted. You…like the one who wears funny looking underwear all the time and refused to defend America when she needed him went to Paris France instead. or like the one complaining of a “HURT LEG” then to disparage a REAL American Hero that lost both legs in battle.

I am a REAL AMERICAN that believes in his country and its People. I have no rose colored glasses on wishing for days gone by. I stand tall and lean toward the future looking for Americas next big move to make it a better place. However you belong to the party of Yesterday. A part of 1950’s believers! The meanest ,nastiest and most hateful group that was around to welcome the arrival of the GOOD Ship Jesus.

You….The one America wants to flush and move on! You the one in time will be long
forgotten and not even be a footnote in her history. You the one…. who will vote for the ONE who has 5 sons, that will send your kids, relatives, neighbors and other Americans off to fight on a whim or dare but never his OWN.

So, when you see my comments….just ignore them. as I already do YOU!
