GOP rival accuses Arizona’s Ben Quayle of ‘going both ways’

Just when you thought the 9th District congressional race in Georgia had gone over the top, there’s this from The Hill newspaper in D.C.:

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) slammed Rep. David Schweikert (R-Ariz.) on Wednesday for releasing a mailer that referred to his primary opponent as “going both ways.”

McCain also endorsed Schweikert’s primary opponent, Rep. Ben Quayle (R-Ariz.), and said the mailer sent by Schweikert was one of the “worst that I have seen.”

“This is not appropriate. This crosses a boundary of decent political dialogue and discourse. This is not something that is acceptable at all,” McCain said at an Arizona press conference.

Ben Quayle is the son of the former vice president. The Schweikert campaign insists it was speaking of Quayle’s flip-flops on issues and intended no innuendo.

Ladies and gentlemen, I’m hesitant to leave commenting open on this one. Prove me wrong.

Yes another Republican closet case? What are the odds! /snark

That’s sure to give the GOP Mandarins the vapors. Quick pass the smelling salts.

All he meant was, quayle wants to spell it potato and potatoe,

Where schweikert got the wrong idea was, while explaining his agricultural policy to a group of potato/potatoe farmers, quayle became excited, stating: “Tubers are oval to oblong, smooth buff coloured skin; except medium deep at the bud end; in row spacing should be 20 cm to avoid oversized tubers.”

quayle then excused himself, jumped in his car with an aide, and drove back to his hotel.

Sounds like McCain is the one with the problem. If Quayle is changing his stance on issues, why not say he’s going both ways? Uh oh, I said stance…….hope John doesn’t jump on that one!!

What’s more disappointing?……

That, in 2012, GOP candidates still stoop to playing the ‘gay card’?, or….

That, with many GOP voters, it still works?

“Brock Landers,” as he once was known – not likely to go both ways. Oh wait, you mean he might be a Democrat! The horror!
Who cares if he’s gay, or not? It should be a non-issue. It is a non-issue in many places, Georgia will come around, Arizona too. And Republicans, even.
Sally Ride…the world didn’t end, science got done. The younger you are the more you realize it doesn’t matter: “nearly two-thirds of those under 50 in favor of legal same sex marriages and 55% of those 50 and older opposed.”
