You don’t often see one political party publicly push voters into another party’s primary. But that’s what’s happening to mark state Rep. Doug McKillip’s first appearance on a GOP ballot.
One Democratic mailer, aimed directly at female voters, compares McKillip to “a smelly diaper.”
Revenge is the reason. The Athens lawmaker, briefly chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, switched parties shortly after his 2010 election, and became the author of HB 954, the strongest anti-abortion measure to pass the Legislature in years.
McKillip is being challenged in the GOP primary by Regina Quick, who says the anti-abortion bill went too far.
The mailer below, paid for by his former fellow House Democrats, below advises Democratic voters to:
1. Hold your breath.
2. Pinch your nose.
3. Pick up a Republican ballot on July 31st.
4. Vote for anyone but Doug McKillip.

What good is a militia today if they are using muzzle loaders? The intent was that the citizens should be able to pick up the arms in their house at the spur of the moment and defend the nation from attack (both foreign and domestic).

No the intent was to ensure that the states would be able to defend themselves from attacks by Native Americans and other countries. At the time, this was both prudent and necessary due to the fact that federal forces moved primarily by horseback or sail and response times could be measured in days and weeks.
The individual states set up National Guards and armories under the direct command of the governors to support this capability and they exist to this day.
Given the changes in technology over the past 225 years, the need for individuals to bear arms has diminished. Couple that with the fact that one no longer needs a gun to feed their family, the need for individual gun ownership vanishes. The amendment exists and while SCOTUS has consistently ruled for the individual right to bear arms, it is archaic. Much like the 3rd amendment.
And prior to the Constitutional Convention in 1787, had some jackwagon hauled a cannon into a Presbyterian church and obliterated an entire congregation, the founding fathers may have been a bit more restrictive in their wording for the 2nd amendment.

OMG it’s almost 1030 and you’re still up. I hope mommy doesn’t find out you’re up this late, she’ll fire the baby sitter. The next time I’m driving down Ponce and your mommy waves me down, I’m gonna tell on you.
