Democrats urge voters into Doug McKillip’s first GOP race

You don’t often see one political party publicly push voters into another party’s primary. But that’s what’s happening to mark state Rep. Doug McKillip’s first appearance on a GOP ballot.

One Democratic mailer, aimed directly at female voters, compares McKillip to “a smelly diaper.”

Revenge is the reason. The Athens lawmaker, briefly chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, switched parties shortly after his 2010 election, and became the author of HB 954, the strongest anti-abortion measure to pass the Legislature in years.

McKillip is being challenged in the GOP primary by Regina Quick, who says the anti-abortion bill went too far.

The mailer below, paid for by his former fellow House Democrats, below advises Democratic voters to:

1. Hold your breath.

2. Pinch your nose.

3. Pick up a Republican ballot on July 31st.

4. Vote for anyone but Doug McKillip.

Democrats and Republicans can recognize when an elected official needs to be given the boot. McKillip won’t sign the ethics pledge, is beholden to the Republican leadership and corporate donors, pushed through an abortion bill that is bad law and requires bad medicine….I could go on and on and on. Doug needs a swift kick right out of office.

The GOP has had a death grip on GA politics for the last 10 years.
Over the past 5 years:

GA has ranked #1 or in the top 3 in bank failures.
GA is currently ranked 49th in education.
GA is currently ranked 8th in unemployment rates.
Last year GA ranked #4 in housing foreclosures.

GA has some of the country’s weakest government ethics and oversight laws and regulations.
But we can carry concealed weapons just about anywhere in the state, we made it virtually impossible for illegal immigrants to pick lettuce and pregnant women now have to have an ultrasound before getting an abortion.

The only positive I am seeing is that the GOP has bungled TSPLOST so badly, it is almost guaranteed to be D.O.A. at the polls next week.

It’s no so much that I am pro-Democrat, it’s just that the GOP seems to be focused on the wrong crap.

Take away the pro-gun, anti-gay, anti-abortion and anti-immigrant stuff and they just don’t seem to any arrows left in the quiver.

As of the last filing, more than 95% of McKillip’s money is from OUTSIDE the District compared to 25% Outside for Quick. That tells you who wants McKillip elected and who he’ll represent if returned to Atlanta.

Yes, let us murder all the unborn just because the precious woman might think having a baby may ruin her body or she does not have the time to care for something she created, it was a mistake because I was drunk and forgot to take my birth control or I was so turned on that when he told me he did not have a condom I just could not say no..

Either you libs need to admit ALL human life has certain rights (including human life inside the womb) or I give no credence to any of your whining about any other rights that you think might be infringed by conservatives.

NICE JOB, DEMS!

McKillip told the folks at Planned Parenthood that he was on their side, took campaign money from them, got elected, then switched parties and forced an ugly, ugly little bill on the women and doctors of this state.

Much like sweet talking a young woman into believing that you love her, coaxing her to um…. trust you, then brutally raping her the minute she lets her guard down. Otherwise known as a “good weekend” for folks like McKillip and his mentor, PervMaster Becker.

You mean ‘democrats’ like lester mad ax,, zigzag miller, joe frank hairs, tom murphy. You certainly don’t mean the real democrats like Jimmy Carter, John Lewis, Julian Bond and Andrew Young.

The first of those I mentioned are just like this jerk mckillip, they called themselves dems, but they openly repudiated the national democratic party and it’s progressive platform after 1948. They called themselves dems because it was politically expedient. Being a southern republican in those days was like being larry craig, you had to stay in the closet. When nixon and raygun showed that class warfare and bigotry could be politically advantageous, they came out of the closet and openly switched to the party for which they had been voting since 1948.

Huge difference. In Roe the SCOTUS made up a right that is not specifically written into the Constitution so it is up to the interpretation of the next court if that said invisible right still exist. And what makes you think that someday a majority of the court won’t read it as it is written, i.e that if you are not part of a “well regulated militia,” then maybe you don’t have the right to automatic assault weapons.

Wilbur,

What part of McKillip’s behavior — he ran as a Democrat, took money from Democrats, switched parties after he was elected, and then screwed the women and doctors of Georgia over with HB954 — do you think the Democrats should forgive FIRST? Lying, taking money under false pretenses, soliciting votes under false pretenses, or telling doctors who treat women that legislators are more qualified than doctors to make medical decisions for their patients? You know, **before they apologize** for lacking civility and restraint, daring to exercise their right to advertise this man’s true character in a campaign? (GOSH, how rude… )

Actually it says “well-regulated” militia.
And at the time of the writing of the amendment, we did not have AR-15s, AK-47s, 9mm magazine loaded pistols, 6 chamber .38 revolvers armor piercing ammunition or laser-scope sited .44 magnums.
