John Boehner: Lynn Westmoreland’s allegations ‘pretty dangerous’

Click here for more AJC background, but this was just posted by Politico.com:

Five House Republicans — Reps. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, Trent Franks of Arizona, Louie Gohmert of Texas, Tom Rooney of Florida and Lynn Westmoreland of Georgia – in June called for a State Department investigation into whether Abedin tried to improperly influence U.S. policy in favor of the Muslim Brotherhood. But the controversy exploded Wednesday, when Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) delivered a floor speech in Abedin’s defense.

“I don’t know Huma, but from everything I do know of her, she has a sterling character,” [House Speaker John] Boehner (R-Ohio) told reporters Thursday. “And I think accusations like this being thrown around are pretty dangerous.”

Here’s a video clip of McCain’s two-minute blistering:

According to bachmann, regarding Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin: “Abedin’s late father started an organization in Saudi Arabia, the Institute of Muslim Minority Affairs, that had the support of another organization, the Muslim World League, that was aligned with the Muslim Brotherhood.”

And further, her next door neighrbors’ third cousin went to school with a guy who once rode on an airplane whose pilot went to college with osama bin laden’s twenty third wife’s ex boy friend. If that’s not proof enough that Obama is part of a world-wide muslim conspiracy to destroy Amerka, then I don’t know what else pox news and this group of barely sentient loonies can do to convince you.

It is no mere cosmic coincidence that Michelle Bachmann and Moon Bat both start with the same letters.

Lynn Westmoreland is the GOP equivalent of Cynthia McKinney.

Lynn Westmoreland is not a Christian, Christians believe there are 10 Commandments. Westmoreland belongs to some sort of cult that has only 3 Commandments. I believe Westmoreland should be investigated.

Admittedly, I don’t know much about Westmoreland. But 2 critical blogs in one day tells me jgalloway is for one or either of his primary opponents who I looked up.

Any polling as to whether Kent Kingsley or Chip Flanegan have a chance?

Considering that Georgia’s voters elected Deal, Ralston, Rogers, Graves, and so on, Westmoreland is just par for the course. In addition to showing an ID, Georgia’s voters should also be required to pass a mental competency test.

I, like John Boehner, did not know who Huma Abedin was before this controversy, but I would like to thank Mr. Boehner, Mr. McCain, Scott Brown and Mr. Rubio who all came out strongly against this statement by Bachmann/Westmoeland Overdrive (apologies to BTO).
I have been critical of all 4 of these politicians in the past, but I would like to thank them publicly for doing the right thing.

Centrist, you have a one-track mind when it comes to these columns. Maybe the reason that we’ve had 2 critical posts about LW in the last few days is because the honorable Representative from the 3rd District of the Great State of Georgia is making an absolute fool of himself and hisconstituents by entertaining this sort of conspiratorial, racist nonsense, when he should be trying to work on some of the pressing REAL problems that Geogians face. On the other hand, MAYBE it’s because “jgalloway” (if that is his real name) is himself in the pocket of the Muslim Brotherhood and is trying to silence the messengers of truth.

Centrist: the problem is not what you do or don’t know about Westmoreland but about the motives that you impute to “jgalloway.” Just because he reports something unflattering about an individual, you should not assume that he is engaged in some sort of nefarious strategy to make them look bad and benefit their opponent.

You find Muslims, like Baptists, Methodist, Sikhs and Catholics, all through the American population and institutions.

For example, the guru at whose feet most Republicans worship, one Grover Norquist, is married to the Palestinian Muslim Samah Alrayyes, who formerly served as an official in the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). And it was Norquist, along with Khaled Saffuri, who founded and was the first Chairman of the Islamic Free Market Institute, known today just as the Islamic Institute.

As I said, you will find Muslims all through American government and society.

Haven’t seen any polling so one should assume that the opposition is token. Kingsely has raised about $20, 000, but has less than $5000 cash on hand, compared to the almost million from Westmoreland. They were scheduled to debate scheduled for 7/22 and the Congressman pulled out of the debate.

As for Jim’s two post in two days. This has been a national story (unless you only watch Fox News) for a couple of days. I am dissappointed that it is just now being written about.

@ Baron Dekalb – Actually most voters in Georgia discount the AJC and liberal media, as they do nationally. There are even a few here on this liberal blog who agree. Criticism from you and other liberals is like the proverbial water off a duck’s back.

I enjoy being one to point it out from the middle of the political spectrum, just like so many liberals point out the conservative bias on talk radio (and I agree with them from the middle).

Centrist: the difference is that right-wing talk radio hosts don’t usually allow critical voices to be heard, using the mute button to talk over people or hanging up on them when it suits them. Galloway, on the other hand, has given you ample rope to hang yourself on this blog, which you have successfully done again today. You are certainly entitled to your opinion about the way “jgalloway” operates, but we villagers (if I may speak for my fellow blog readers) are getting tired of hearing the little shepherd shouting himself hoarse with his cries of “librul media librul media” every day without fail.
