‘He lies,’ ’she lies’ in a zany 9th District contest

Never mind the rain – north Georgia’s getting pretty steamy.

The 9th District congressional campaign of Republican Doug Collins has layered the new district with a mailer looking to highlight chief rival Martha Zoller’s career as a radio talk show host – and the statements she made during her career. Here’s one look at it:

Clearly, Collins is attempting to be careful in his attack on a female opponent. “Zany” is a word with interesting implications – conjuring up mental images of Lucille Ball, a figure that’s not threatening, but also not serious. Click here to see the entire flyer, which directs voters to SeeMarthaSayit.com.

The Zoller campaign has responded by bringing in radio friend Herman Cain, with this robocall:

Zoller prefers you to take a look at Collinlies.com. We merely offer the links. You decide.

As a general rule, whenever two politicians accuse each other of lying….they’re BOTH right.

Seriously? Herman Cain was caught with a mistress, endorsed an ultra liberal today and we should care what he thinks? Poser.

Both candidates are well qualified – Martha has an exceptional grasp of both the 9th district issues and the National issues. Outgoing and friendly Martha is easy to support. As a voter you have to feel good about our choice either candidate will serve the district well.

I think I would support Martha just because we need more conservative women in Congress that can go on TV, hold their own with the reporters and espouse the conservative views.

Agree with Chuck on both of them, for now on when it comes to the congress, I’m voting for the candidate who has the LEAST political experience….I think it would be great to have more Martha’s and Herman’s, and any other citizen who isn’t part of the political class (be it local or state). I think she would be far more accountable and listen to the voters of the 9th. Everyone up here has listened to her for years and for the most part agree with her views.

I’m not picking a leader because they’re my gender or race. I can make up my own mind. Thank you very much.

So Collins wants to attack someone’s ‘zany’ views, and then uses quotes that are perfectly sensible? Someone is zany here, and it isn’t Zoller. (Note: I’m not a particular fan of either of these – or anyone else in that race.)

Predicitions: Less than 5% of the citizens in the 9th District know what Martha said. 2. More than 40% of the citizens in the 9th District don’t know either candidates name, let alone where they really stand on the issues. 3. Probably 25% of the potential voters are going to find out that they do not have the proper ID to vote.

It is understood that neither Zoller nor Collins support the Bowles/Simpson plan to end deficit spending, but, that their “liberal” Democratic opponent, Doug Cooley does.

Is it time for the ninth district to vote “liberal”?

The candidates are not discussing issues like third world immigration, guns, urban crime and the economy but are slinging mud at each other. One of the candidates actually lectured voters about America being “a nation of immigrants” in contrast to the views of the Founding Fathers.

I agree with F. Dissen. It’s time to boot the lock step “cons” out of GA.

OK, lets’s see what we have here…………Tea Party candidate or the plain old statist Republican
Establishment candidate…………I’m going with something new that may work rather than something old that we know doesn’t work………GO MARTHA GO!

It doesn’t matter what republican candidates believe. Once they get in office, they are bullied into “going along to get along”. What we need is more “back bone” to stand up to these bullies.

Keep doing this GOP

Let them beat each other up. I’m voting for Cooley come November. Y’all should see how Paul Broun has left this district and to vote for a conservative again would be insane.

I don’t think she’s ready for Congress. She should run an agency or be a county commission chairman first.

Not sure what his definition of zany is but after watching her on “The Georgia Gang” she certainly isn’t a Democrat in sheep’s clothing. Perhaps she is truly someone who listens to both sides of an issue before making a decision. What a concept!

No choice both have sold their souls to the republican mafia. They just gave you the flavors you wanted teaparty/diversity vs. christan/military/lawyer. Who ever wins will be a future millionaire congress rep. with benefits and pay way higher than most taxpayers from their district.
