We told you this morning about the curious comment that rocker Ted Nugent, a Mitt Romney fan, made at an NRA convention in St. Louis:
”If Barack Obama becomes the president in November, again, I will be either be dead or in jail by this time next year.”
Here’s the context of Nugent’s remark, made in the midst of a tirade against the Obama administration and the U.S. Supreme Court:
The U.S. Secret Service, which is having problems of its own, pronounced itself curious by what exactly Nugent meant. From USA Today:
“We are aware of the situation and we’re conducting an appropriate follow up,” said Brian Leary, a Secret Service spokesman.

The main thing is Nugent threatened to kill the president
And where exactly was it that Ted said he was going to “kill the president”? You have to be kidding because if not then you are a completely delusional or on serious drugs.

“Obama may get re-elected but at least I will know your vote will not be counted in Georgia”
Oooh the standard “dem vote means” nothing claim!
But totally missing the reality that as a non-swing state, Georgia’s electoral count is equally meaningless.
Fun times.
What is really interesting is that there has been significant erosion in the red/blue dominance since 2000.
If the influx of non-cons continues, GA could easily move to swing state status in 2016.

Only in the South is a confirmed draft dodger like Nugent considered a “patriot.” Like most camo-wearing, Super Duty-driving rednecks, he’s all bark and no bite (unless it’s on a pillow).

Ted, I believe you have been taken in by the propaganda that is being fed to many today.
President Obama does not want to take away your right to own guns, from you or from anyone else. Nor does he want to take away any American’s right to freedom of speech. The President was a former Constitutional law professor. He has functioned well as the President of the United States. Some have wanted him to fail since the day he was sworn in as President, if not before. They need to explore why they have that in their intention. We have a good, intelligent man as our President who cares deeply about sustaining the values of this nation for the common people of this nation. America was not created to serve the interests of the few at the expense of the many. The President Obama understands this. Those who wish for America to serve the financial interests of the few have used propaganda against President Obama. See into what they do. Thomas Jefferson did not want this nation to serve mainly the interests of the self-serving few of wealth and he knew that they would use propaganda to manipulate the common people, unknowing to the common people. That is why Jefferson supported public education – so that the common people could see into these devious machinations by many of the wealthy elite to benefit themselves. Jefferson wanted power and responsibility spread into all classes of people in America – i.e. “all are created equal.”

When Rosen made her comments about Ann Romney, Republicans were quick to hold the President accountable for her comments. The President to his credit denounced Rosen’s comments and further added that a candidate’s family should be off limits. Why doesn’t Romney demonstrate the same strength of character to denounce Nugent for his comments? Nugent’s comments are worse because of the suggestion of physical harm. His silence says so much about his lack of character.

I have no idea but it sure as h3ll isn’t I am going to try to kill the President. Since he was at a NRA convention one could conclude that he thinks Obama is going to try to take his guns away from him and he will fight not to give up that right? You do know the NRA saying the government can take my gun out of my cold dead hands.

Amazing and Mary Elizabeth, both of you are dinking the kool-aid and delusional. It is not propaganda that is feeding us it is Obama’;s own words and actions. Please, you two need to get a grip on reality. And by the way Amazing, Rosen has been to the WH 35 times so let’s not pretend she did not have say in his campaign policies. By the way, I don’t see Obama distancing himself from the pig named Bill Maher, do you? Didn’t think so.

The Nuge is a waste of oxygen. He’s one of the absolute worst guitar players I can think of. Ever. Self indulgent, wanker “rock” without the rock. And he’s even worse as a singer. And worse still as a lyricist. And worse still as a human being. This latest comment is just another piece of evidence of that. Yes, he’s a real believer in the constitution, so much so that he’d like to assassinate the president who was duly elected by the citizens of the United States under the guidelines of that very constitution. The Tea Partiers are oblivious to their own ignorance and hypocrisy.

@Zoe:
“What happened to freedom of speech? Seems to me that we spend more and more time walking on egg shells, so nobody is offended. Pretty sad that one cannot voice an opinion anymore for fear of repercussions.”
Where do you see any indication that freedom of speech is being impinged upon?
I see a lively debate where a has-been celebrity was given a soapbox, said what he had to say and people are responding.
Looks a lot a like freedom of speech at its best.
The courts recognize there are some reasonable limitations to this right (”Fire” in a crowded theatre and threats to heads of state).
Not that I think that Nugent was making a threat, but it is not unreasonable to draw the conclusion that there might have been a veiled threat there. So the Secret Service does what it supposed to and goes out to investigate. And by the way, the President does not make the decision on who to investigate and who not to. I would expect that this happens whenever there is a question about possible threats to the President and his family, regardless of an (R) or (D) next to his name.
To make this a political or even a constitutional issue is just silly.

The “Nuge”- abandoned two of his kids, has had multiple wives, had multiple kids out of wedlock, was sleeping with a teenager and then had her parents sign her “over” to him to be her legal guardian so he could be free to have his way with her, dodged the draft… Yes he’s a real county-first, family values sort of guy. And typical Republican.
