Sheldon Adelson: Newt Gingrich ‘at the end of his line’

Breaking presidential news, oddly enough, from the Jewish Journal. Billionaire casino mogul Sheldon Adelson, the chief underwriter for the super PAC that has kept Newt Gingrich’s campaign alive, says time’s about up for his candidate:

Said Adelson:

“It appears as though he’s at the end of his line. Because mathematically, he can’t get anywhere near the numbers, and there’s unlikely to be a brokered convention.”

The only real drawback to Newt withdrawing from the race at this point is the false hope it would give Santorum, which would only serve to drag the process out even longer…..as if it hasn’t outlasted its viability already.

I hate to see this happen. I wish people had listened more to Newt instead of the groomed from the womb Mitt. Newt could have debated Obama under the table without even trying. I will always be a Newt fan.

I agree with Tom. Romney should hope Gingrich stays in, and divides the conservative vote. If Santorum is alone against Romney, ( not counting Ron Paul, of course), it will give Santorum false hope he can win. Only way this works is both Newt and Santorum drop out, and that’s not going to happen. Meanwhile, Obama is watching these guys rip each other and secretly smiling.

Anne, thanks for the laugh. So, even though Newt couldn’t even come close to winning the nomination, you think he could beat Obama easily? With that kind of logic, it’s no wonder you support Newt. I hope you enjoy hating Obama for 4 more years, because there’s no way Mitt will win.

Newt has shown that he is the perfect leader for Gooberstan; witness his victories in Jawja and South Carolina. Maybe he and Santorum can be Romney’s Viceroys for Dicksie. They are both suitable POS’s.

Else the goober vote will have no weight in this election. Dikkksie hates Romney, and hates Obama more, but Romney IS white, so he has Dikkksie in the bag without catering to the goobers in any way.

Way to go Goobers!

The problem with “always be a Newt fan,” is that you REALLY didn’t listen to him. Sure, he’s a smart guy, but how many “smart guys” have we let ruin our nation already. Good riddance to another good ole’ boy.

I like Newt. Newt loves this country. But, the main stream press has become so powerful as a lobby for the left and support of a Progressive, anti Christian agenda, it would never be allowed to happen. Sadly, they frame the debate. Any one on the left who denies that is either stupid or so far gone with that gospel, they can’t be gotten to for a discussion. Romney is the only guy running that the press will not be able to label as right of center conservative, thus alarming the people who will decide this election, and that’s the 15-20% who are classified moderate. You can show the left all the stats, facts and alarming clips you want, they’ll vote for him.

So true JRev, Gingrich would not stand a chance against Obama.

Real Clear Politics poll average, Obama vs Gingrich,

Obama +13.6, Obama would win in a landslide.

JB, the problem is that no one is Anti-Christian. People are just calling BS on those of us on the Right who claim to want govt out of our lives, but don’t want laws that allow anything else but what we believe. We’ve done it to ourselves by letting the Extreme Right have too big a voice.

JB,

does “the main stream press” in your mind include Fox News, WSB radio, Rush Limbaugh?

I’ve heard Fox News is more popular than CNN, WSB radio is the most dominant radio GA, and Limbaugh is considered the most successful talk radio host.

So what do you think?

“anti Christian agenda”? aren’t the right wingers anti illegal immigrants? I thought Jesus said “loving your neighbors” is the most important Christian trait. Doesn’t that qualify as “anti Christian agenda”?

Republicans need a brokered convention to find a real candidate. Newt would help achieve that.

Why must Fiscal Conservative Republicans be lumped together with Religious Conservatives in the media, and for this election? You keep your social agenda to yourself, I just want the economy fixed!

JB: So, Newt loves our country? I’m pretty sure ALL presidential candidates do. The whole right vs. left is very tired. I think a large portion of us don’t prescribe to this label. I might actually vote for a Republican some day, if there was one who did not claim to be for smaller gov’t, when they actually want to expand gov’t by forcing their own social “morales” down my throat. I can’t believe we actually had to vote in Georgia in order to buy alcohol on Sunday. Imagine the uproar if we ever had a non-Christian candidate who wanted to push his/her non-Christian “morales” onto our entire country. When Republicans stop trying to dictate to me what my morality should be, then I will consider them as an actual option. Until then, it’s a no-brainer for me.

And DannyX, if you take personal feelings and party out of it and just look at the pure qualifications and experience of Newt vs Obama and look at it, Newt is +13. Before Obama became POTUS, an alien landing here looking at the resume of Obama,Newt and Sara Palin, Obama would be guess 3 on that list as qualified to be President

JB- Years of experience alone don’t make a good President. There’s a reason the party wanted Newt gone after his tenure as Speaker. And there’s a reason we don’t want him back. Don’t get me started on Palin. Once again, there’s reason to have visible separation between Religious Conservatives and Fiscal Conservatives. The Conservative Social Agenda will do nothing to get this country’s economy back on track.

” Newt could have debated Obama under the table without even trying.”

Newt lost his last 3 debates to Romney. Newt lost his last 3 debates to Santorum.

That is one of the reasons that since SC and Georgia Newt has not won a single state.

There is a reason that of the 300 or so Republican congressmen who served with Newt during his speaker-ship days only 6 supported his bid for the White House.

The press and the public are both idiots. Ron Paul is the only individual running who is suggesting substantive, responsible changes to the status quo and is courageous enough to go beyond political rhetoric. The fact that he is ignored speaks volumes about our country — and not in a good way. He is not perfect but he is the best candidate for the job. Go Ron Paul.

Take 10 steps back and look at Obama in that office, he’s hard to defend. I have many Democratic friends and family members who will not vote for him again. I think that also 1999. Christi may or may not bring Jersey because He’s had to make tough choices to clean up that train wreck the Dem’s made of that state. We need Florida bad, And I saw some polling today on Latino’s that’s real encouraging if Rubio is on the ticket. There’s only 4 or 5 states that will decide this thing, and Obama is not doing well in any of them

Rubio won’t survive. The immigration debate will eat him alive and he knows it. Don’t count out Obama yet, which would be a big mistake. I also don’t think Christi’s style of debate would sit well with the rest of the country as a VP. It’ll only get you so far.
