The leaders of the State Senate introduce a clearly unconstitutional nullification bill and you write about an actor sponsoring a dinner for the president???????
Are you kidding me? This is the same mentality that led to the Civil War – Sherman’s march to the sea, Reconstruction.
Jim, what, if anything, are you thinking?
February 24th, 201210:00 pm
I have to agree!! This places you in the same category as the legislator who’s fighting for the ban on vasectomies. Let me see… water, transportation, unemployment, crime ….. Take your pick Jim!!!
Barry Obama, Tom Cruise & Tyler Perry
February 24th, 201210:23 pm
Who are three liberal actors who read from scripts written by people (MUCH) smarter than them, Alex?
To these first two gentlemen. You’ve obviously wandered onto the wrong website. You’re looking for this: http://hairshirt.com/
February 24th, 201210:28 pm
WOW!!!! Old Hippie
Lets see, Jim wrote about Santorum coming to town earlier this week, wrote about Romney coming to town. and Cain, Gingrich and Biden. And that is just the ones I recall.
So Jim likes to write about presidential candidates coming to town in a presidential election year.
That puts in company with 99% of every political writer in the country.
Jim you do not indicate if this is a fund raiser. Is it? If so, will the guest list reflect the guest list when Perry had the grand opening of the studios? There was a lot of money there that night.
February 24th, 201210:32 pm
Thanks Jim for letting me know were not to be on the 15th.
February 24th, 201210:37 pm
I see there are some of the radical left giving Jim a hard time. You have to admit Jim that us of the right do it in a much nicer manner.
February 24th, 201210:42 pm
Jim, thanks for giving us heads-up whenever any of the Presidential candidates come to town – including the incumbent. Don’t let the gripers get you down.
February 24th, 201211:08 pm
As usual, td, et al miss the point. And of course GOP Jim gets defensive when he gets criticized. My point was that the leaders of the Georgia St Senate have introduced a blatantly unconstitutional piece of legislation comparable to those acts that led to the Civil War. Yet GOP Jim chooses to report on Obama attending a fundraiser sponsored by a second rate actor of (only) local acclaim.
Where is the story about the blatantly unconstitutional nullification bill? That seems much more important than what Tyler Perry is doing.
GOP Jim must not have gotten his invite yet. Or the local GOP told him not to report what’s going on in the legislature.
BTW, I find it humorous that you Goopers defend Jim when his true colors come out. He’s had his lips firmly planted on Newt’s behind for months now.

February 24th, 2012
Brother you really need to stop smoking that pipe or put the cork back in the bottle. if you think Jim is not a proud member of the Democratic “Lame stream media”.
What is that HB or SB number for this act of treachery you are talking about?
February 24th, 201211:20 pm
Geez Old hippie, are you ALWAYS such an asshat? I smoked a lot of pot, but apparently not enough to follow what the hell you are whining about. That first link may make sense to someone who left most of their brain cells in the 60’s but it don’t to the rest of us.
Help a brother out. Just what exactly is this double secret probation type bill that has your panties so far up your crack?
February 24th, 201211:21 pm
Yo Jim. If you can’t make it let me know. I’ll go have supper with brother Barry.
February 24th, 201211:37 pm
Seems there are lots of folks who don’t think this is unconstitutional:
When a state nullifies a federal law or regulation, it is passing legally-binding legislation that makes the federal act in question void and inoperative, or “non-effective” within the boundaries of that state; or, in other words, not a law as far as the state is concerned. Current nullification efforts around the U.S. have states passing laws that effectively defy federal laws and regulations on firearms, marijuana, identification cards and more.
Georgia State Representative Calvin Hill has introduced House Resolution 1086 (HR1086), which proposes a Georgia State Constitutional Amendment “so as to provide that no law or rule or regulation shall compel any person, employer, or health care provider to participate in any health care system and to authorize persons and employers to pay directly for lawful health care services without penalties or fines; to provide for the submission of this amendment for ratification or rejection; and for other purposes.”
If approved by both houses of the Georgia legislature, it will go to a ballot vote for final approval by the citizens of the state.
Georgia joins Ohio, Florida and a number of other states considering similar state Constitutional Amendments to effectively nullify, or resist any future national health care plan.
February 24th, 201211:43 pm
TD being nice to Jim. I didn’t think he had forgiven Jim for not jumping on redistricting.
February 25th, 20121:19 am
I would not be surprised if most of the AJC readers are NOT really that interested in keeping up with Tyler Perry’s every move….our country is in crisis mode for heavens sake !
February 25th, 20121:47 am
I for one appreciate being informed of the rarity of a Presidential visit as opposed to the banality of Republican antics.
February 25th, 20122:51 am
One thing for sure, Bootlicker 999 will not be there…..:)
February 25th, 20123:03 am
I’ll be there. Hope to see you there as well.
February 25th, 20125:23 am
Where will I be the afternoon of March 16?
Not on the roads anywhere between Dobbins AFB and Tyler’s studio.
February 25th, 20126:04 am
Let’s see now. 1. How many fundraising trips in non-election and election years did GWB fly into Dobbins, took I-75 South to I-20 East to Reynolds Plantation, and claim that he was in ATLANTA? 2. How many people went to Reynolds Plantation, but claim they won’t be in SW Atlanta on March 16th?
February 25th, 20126:07 am
It appears that Tyler Perry has been using his personal capital gains tax cuts to create jobs. The Koch Brother’s and Friends are using their personal capital gains taxes cuts to find ways to eliminate jobs.
February 25th, 20126:24 am
WHEN is Tyler Perry going to relocate his studio to a tasteful Buckhead address? How close does
Marta run to his southside place?
February 25th, 20126:33 am
How much does it cost to attend this celebration?
Vote for Obama because he's black
February 25th, 20127:23 am
How wonderful. Keep voting for him because he looks like you. That’s really, really smart. Gas will be $ 10 a gallon and a loaf of bread will cost $10 .
It’s about as stupid as the your people lining up in the middle of the night to pay $ 220 for the newest pair of Jordan’s or the new glow in the dark kicks just released by Nike.
BTW Is Tyler Perry a man or a woman ?
February 25th, 20127:26 am
td: What makes you think you’re invited?
Old Hippie: If you were paying attention, Jay Bookman has already covered this issue on nullification in one of his editorial/blogs.
Lynn43: As they say, if you have to ask how much, you can’t afford it!
February 25th, 20128:15 am
Uh boy Jim, now Madea’s gonna be branded a socialist…….thanks buddy.
February 25th, 20128:16 am
And there will be more people there than came out to see Mitt’s historic economic speech yesterday.
February 25th, 20128:20 am
People mad that Jim wrote about this? Well there are a lot more interesting things…like the GOP’s war against the uterati, their hatred for the Girl Scouts, the republican conspiracy about Disney, the Muppets, Dr. Seuss and Avatar, Newt’s moon colony ambitions, Santorum’s angst over higher education or the fact that Mitt just can’t seem to win, Ron Paul..is he still running?
yeah, there were some more interesting things to post about.
February 25th, 20128:25 am
yeah! $10.gas gal./loaf bread it’s coming. No matter who is President. This is what happends when you continue to print fiat money.Money spent to fight 2 wars, and pay for part d supplement. All this while cutting taxes.Sending all jobs to other countries.
February 25th, 20128:50 am
No more Tyler Perry films for me.
February 25th, 20128:56 am
My mama always said if you don’t have something nice to say then don’t say nothing at all. To the ignoramus who thinks the only reason black ppl voted for Obama IS because he’s black obviously didn’t have a mama like mine. It’s one one thing to be smart & sound ignorant. But to be ignorant & sound ignorant is laziness at its highest level. How hard was it for you to make this a black thing? You start off by stating that a gallon of gas & a loaf of bread will each cost $10, but finished by asking if Tyler Perry was a man or woman. If that question is legit then you truly have no business making any comment because you have no idea what you’re talking about, just like your gas & bread prediction or your black vote logic. Quit trying to find ways to divide ppl & come up w/something that will unite us. If you are truly concerned about the gas prices and/or bread prices then don’t play politics or the race card. There is enough of that going on in Washington already, on both sides. Sorry mama.

What we really need is jobs. Who is the strongest jobs USA candidate? Take a look.Santorum’s plan is the strongest to create the most U.S. jobs and keep them in the U.S….Other plans, including Gingrich’s, do not focus on making U.S. production competitive effectively, so that the jobs will stay here in the USA for our American workers. Rick Santorum respects us enough to tell us the real truth. Common sense tells us: It takes more than 1 vote to pass a law.
Get real! Of course, politics is a team sport. Rick Santorum is an honest, courageous man ‘telling us like it is.’ Other candidates are afraid to talk about this ‘fact of life’ publicly. They prefer to ‘sweep it under the rug.’ Rick Santorum has faith in the good sense and strength of the American people. He has enough faith in us to tell us the truth. Our part as voters is to insure that we elect a strong conservative team in Congress, and a strong, conservative leader as President.
Ron Paul is living proof that voting alone results in failed causes. He used his 1 vote against legislation again and again…and the laws he opposed continued to pass anyway.
Santorum is the only candidate who has already successfully used those skills as a conservative team leader at the national level to pass milestone conservative reforms. He is the only conservative telling us the real facts on the campaign trail. He is the only candidate who will tell us the real facts as President. Watch Santorum’s entire speech on jobs and the economy yesterday at http://www.c-span.org/Campaign2012.

THE IGNORANCE AND LACK OF EDUCATION IN THE SOUTH AMAZES ME STILL IN 2012 …NO WONDER THE STATE IS SO BACKWARDS…THE HATRED RACIAL AND OTHERWISE IS DISTURBING…..I NEVER WANT TO LIVE IN THE SOUTH EVER AGAIN ONCE I MOVE NEXT WEEK
February 25th, 20129:11 am
The african american leadership council need obama to help stop all this racism around here. Hopefully he raise a lot of money. I’m tired of this and may move back to Jersey next year if the economy gets better.
February 25th, 20129:15 am
are white people allowed at this “gala” or just “african-americans?”
February 25th, 20129:24 am
dino did you ask that question when Steven Spielberg was hosting a dinner for President Obama? If not STFU.
February 25th, 20129:33 am
Was it news?….when George W would gala up with his good ole boys back in Texas?……wonder what in the world the difference could b?…….I’m a 52 year old southern born white man….with a son serving n Afghanistan…..(west point 2010) a gay brother (same partner 14 years) and a 19 year old daughter “in love” with a white black mixed young man….I have voted Reagan, Clinton, Bush, Obama….so what am I missing here?……what is the point of posting the invite with no commentary?
February 25th, 20129:55 am
Yes we do have alot of racial people in GA. And we do have alot of nonracial people. i ask you not to leave you can help change that. Georgia why did you let that DAM tea party group tell you who to vote for.
Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will crush the heads of the perverted New World Order integrationist crowd and their devilish black minions
February 25th, 201210:50 am
I see that two sissies are getting together in plain sight on March 16, 2012. Everyone knows Tyler Perry is a sissy. And everyone knows Obama and Rahm Emanuel are members of a Gay men’s club in Chicago. http://fellowshipofminds.wordpress.com/2010/05/27/washington-insider-obama-member-of-chicago-gay-mans-club/
I wondering whether or not the occasion on March 16th is in support of Brandon White.
February 25th, 201211:01 am
February 25th, 2012
You made a wise decision for yourself. Can you please convince other like minded libs to go with you?
February 25th, 201211:02 am
February 25th, 2012
Remember not even Georgia born African Americans wanted you to come in the first place so we will not be sad when you leave.
February 25th, 201211:30 am
td @ 11:02 am
So from your comments, can the casual reader assume that you’re an African American? How fortuitous that you’d come out with only a few days left in Black History month, that aside, welcome to the good side, and your vote for Barack Obama will be be greatly appreciated come November.
February 25th, 201211:38 am
February 25th, 2012
It could mean that I am white and know a few Georgia born African Americans that think most northern born African Americans are arrogant butt heads?
No I will not vote for the messiah and chief.
February 25th, 201211:52 am
the MESSIAH isnt running is he…I didnt know JESUS was on the ballot…if u think OBAMA is the messiah, he isnt , hes a great president but not the messiah…didnt know u thought so highly of him
February 25th, 201211:58 am
I don’t think anyone would seriously challenge the fact that I’m African American…Former NY Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and others in the North chased most of those black perverted integrationist criminals out of their cities and sent them to us in the South. As a result of the absence, NY City etc has become one of the safest and moral cities in the nation. And as a result of their presence, southern cities are becoming exponentially dangerous and immoral.
I discussed this very issure with Civil Rights Activist Hosea Williams before he died. The only thing he could say is that “the north has defeated the south again.”
February 25th, 201212:06 pm
@our lord blah blah blah
ok white guy we know youre “black”…lol..hahahaha
February 25th, 201212:12 pm
Just as I said, I don’t think anyone will seriously challenge my ethnicity.
February 25th, 201212:16 pm
@!our lord blah blah blah
if u say so white guy…lol…next…hahahahahehehehohoho..
February 25th, 201212:18 pm
ok white guy we believe youre “black”…satisfied now..hehehehe
February 25th, 201212:21 pm
Either something is amiss with electronic voting or white people have lost their mind. I understand how sissies can vote for Obama, but how is it possible for average white people to cast their vote for him. http://fellowshipofminds.wordpress.com/2010/05/27/washington-insider-obama-member-of-chicago-gay-mans-club/
