The anti-tax group Club for Growth, a prime source of campaign contributions, issued a warning today to former Georgia congressman Bob Barr: If he mounts a Republican challenge to U.S. Rep. Tom Graves, R-Ranger, they’ll back their tea-party favorite:
“Tom Graves is a champion of economic freedom and deserves re-election,” said Club for Growth President Chris Chocola. “He has been an outstanding member of Congress and a leader in the pro-growth cause. The Club for Growth PAC will work hard for his reelection and we are confident Club members will enthusiastically support his campaign.”
“Bob Barr’s record has significant flaws,” added Chocola. “Bob Barr voted for No Child Left Behind, to raise the debt limit, and to raise his own pay. If Bob Barr runs against Tom Graves, the Club for Growth PAC will work to educate Georgia voters about Bob Barr’s record of supporting bigger government.”

Average income of less than $20K, 65% of all jobs in the district are subsidized by either State or Fed government, 40% HS drpout rate, 35% lack high school diplomas, 20+% live in substandard housing, extra low SAT scores, high low birth rates, high substance dependency, limited insfrastructure, 40% divorce rate. Guess who represents this Congressional District with these demographics?

Young Democrats also seem to have even more fun things to do than get into politics and live in that proverbial glass house, as well.

Hey Centrrist — If you’re going to cite Rasmussen poll figures, you have to subtract 6 points from the Republican side and add 6 to the Democrat side. They are the joke of the polling industry.
That said, only long-time Georgia residents know how truly loathsome Newt is. What a model First Family he would bring to the White House!

Hey Smoke – don’t forget to add Pelosi to your approval rating list question? And how about Reid? Or better yet, Barney Frank? Best news of the year was the announcement that Frank would not run again. And the reports of his demise lauding him for his efforts a couple of years ago in support of Dodd-Frank …. the kingpin protector of the middle incomers vs corporate and banking greed. Wasn’t it Frank that was one of the key movers in lowering of mortgage lending standards to help the lower income folk gain housing they couldn’t afford in the first place that was one of the major causes of the big meltdown in the first place?

How does a guy that over borrowed from a bank, on property he could not afford, then stiffed the bank, the bank fails, and he transfers his assets to hide from the collection agent, be the face of fiscal conservatism?

It must be visiting hours or you snuck into the trustee’s office to use the computer.
In any case, since you decided to return fire with a jab at the President, answer the implied question.
‘What has the republican party done to/for the average Georgian since 2003? They have had total control and cooperation with most of the easily purchased state functionaries. They stormed in with glorious promises. So what happened?’

Winning elections is the name of the game for ‘politics’ but that just gets you to day one on governance.
When does the gop plan begin to bear fruit for the voters?

retired,
There’s the rub.
The Public is awakening to the clear and obvious fact….
Short of blind obstructionism, the gop isn’t accomplishing anything.
In the case of GA, they haven’t accomplished anything since 2003 (unless you count major league pocket lining as an accomplishment)
As for the Senate or Presidency, hold your breath.
Let me see if I have this straight: The house GOP is not passing the Obama liberal agenda so they obstructionist, while the Senate will not even bring a house job growth bill to the floor for a vote and they are protecting the poor downtrodden members of society?
No, this is message that the left wants to get out but it is not going to work this year. The real word is out and the public understands that it is the left that either wants it their way or we will demonize you. We the vast silent majority are not buying this line of bull any longer and the house and Senate will being very red next year.

When does the gop plan begin to bear fruit for the voters?
As soon as the Democratic controlled obstructionist Senate gets out of the way and actually allows some of their bills to be voted on. The democratic majority leader Reid will not even allow them to come to the floor for a vote because he knows there are 6 to 8 Senate democrats in red states that will vote for them.

Why do I think I’ll ever read blogs from clear-thinking, conservative voters in a blog that is run by one of the most inept journalists (what the hell did I just say about this guy being a journalist?) on the planet? This guy is no better than that numbnuts on CNN (Dan Lothian). Add to that the leftist publication that wouldn’t support a Republican if he or she dressed up as a liberal (and I’m not going to say how that could be accomplished).
The overwhelming backward-thinking remarks on here by leftist democrats are truly inconceivable in their posts.

“Bob Barr voted for No Child Left Behind,”
And all of the members of the “Club” voted for the bills author, George W and voted for his re-election after he signed the bill into law.
You really need to go and look at the author of the Bill. You will not find George W on the title page. You will, however, find the name Ted Kennedy. He wrote the bill and W. worked with him to ensure higher standards and standard measurements were put in the bill.
The concept was good but the bill did not work very well because there was no teeth in it. No teachers held accountable for not increasing test scores, no Principals held accountable and no parents held accountable. Unless you have consequences for actions or non actions then you will not see an increase in achievement.

Did you sleep though all of your civics classes? NO President authors a bill. Dubya’s name would never appear on it except when he signs it into law – which is true for any and all legislation passed at the federal level.
The same goes for quote/unquote Obamacare.
But, the Executive branch can and does propose and champion and influence.
Bush touted NCLB extensively in his campaign for re-election in 2004.
That aside, I do agree with you, the NCLB legislation achieved almost none of its goals (aside from creating some excellent erasure skills on the part of teachers and school administrators).

And I think I was saying that NCLB was Dubya’s idea in the first place. If I recall correctly it was within days after his inauguration. Interestingly, one of the co-authors is our current Speaker of the House – The Honorable John Boehner

Yes it was but if I recall right it had been TK’s mission for years to reform education as well as Medicare part D. This just proves that W was stupid to ever reach out across the isle.

Barr “voted to raise the debt limit.” Let’s see. Barr last served in Congress around 2003 – 8 years ago. How many times has that vote been cast since?
The “tea party” who ever that is, seem at least as clueless about what they stand for as the Occupy people. They fight each other over who is in charge and struggle to create division at every chance. The article I read showing their influence to be waning in many states gives me hope that in four or five years they’ll lose their influence in Georgia.
While I prefer to avoid name calling, the Count Chocula was funny.

Reach across the aisle for NCLB? Bush announced NCLB 3 days after taking office. This is his baby. While I know many teachers who don’t like it and see its flaws, the spirit of NCLB is true – make teachers accountable and strive for more individualized instruction of children.
People who hate government, but live off it suffer the conundrum: what can I do that does’t conflict with my “hate government’ image?
NCLB was domestic policy for a president with few domestic planks. I would suppose Ms. Bush encouraged him to take this path.
