Rick Perry loses a Georgia supporter, and Newt Gingrich gains one

Throughout the summer, former state senator John Douglas of Social Circle – he ran for state Public Service Commission in 2010 — may have been Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s most ardent supporter in Georgia. Where two or more Republicans gathered, Douglas was there with bumper stickers and a petition urging Perry into the race.

But no more. Douglas posted the following on the Rockdale County Republican party’s Facebook page:

“After very careful consideration and lengthy discussions with many key supporters, I am leaving the Perry camp, effective immediately. I no longer see a path to victory for him and have had great difficulties dealing with his staff.

“I still like many of his policies and would have no problem voting for him if he is our nominee. Now I am endorsing Newt Gingrich for President and will spend time in the near future explaining that move. Suffice it to say tonight that Newt champions the culture war I believe in fighting and he is a brilliant, very well-spoken man. I am pleased to endorse him for President.”

When it comes to foreign policy (The Presidents most important job), Ron Paul is worse then Obama. There is no way he can garner more that 15% in the Republican primary and 6 or 7% in a general election.

Foreign policy is the reason Libertarians (Ron Paul) can not be considered a legitimate third party. A good deal of Republicans and a good many Democrats listen to Libertarians on the Domestic side and would consider voting for them until they start talking about their unrealistic world view.

My only question for the “Conservative” folk (if TRUE conservatism is anything more than a myth): Why do you believe that Clinton’s indescretions trump Nixon’s when it comes to one party’s claim on values and morals?

And to the Solyndra Circle Jerkers: Half a billion is quite a lot of money to lose. But I truely believe that the Bush-Paulson Scheme “dwarfs” those losses by a country mile!

I sometimes disagree with td, but in an agreeable/ debatable way. The folks on the far left love to use names and sarcasm – which says a lot more about them than their targets.

What in the world are you talking about my friend. My writing skills are not great and I understand bad grammer and spelling but my friend I do not have a clue what the meaning of your last sentence is trying to say.

TD quoting Ted Nugent as a deep thinker — he’s not even a third rate guitar player.

TD comparing Newt’s diploma from Emory in ‘65 and MS and PhD (in early European History) from Tulane in ‘71 to degrees From Columbia in 1983 and JD Magna Cum Laude from Harvard Law School in 1991.

TD comparing Newt’s teaching stint at West Georgia College and Kennesaw State College to Obama’s teaching of Constitutional Law at the University of Chicago from 1992 to 2004.

Obama would wipe the floor with Gingrich in any lecture hall, debate, etc.

Gingrich has failed, resigned or been removed at/from every endeavor he’s ever attempted — except bilking the government and fellow Republicans from their dollars. He is the epitome of what is wrong with cronyism and out of control lobbying in Washington. He invented K. Street.

Is there any wonder no one takes TD seriously?

Believe it or not, at an early stage in my life, I attended a democrat party meeting, I really did. The crux of that session was, ” when you have no valid arguments, talk a lot”, and that’s the truth. I see that many of you posters attended the meeting.

td,

Clinton’s economy surged due to TAX INCREASES followed by job growth. Nut was just a backbencher when the tax increases passed.
I do wish Clinton had vetoed NAFTA and prevented some of the massive pain and job loss caused chasing the ‘free trade’ mythology.

Do you think Douglas knew the Fannie-Freddie matter was going to blow up today? If he didn’t he learned today, Newt is for Newt. It is disappointing to see he is undisciplined in ALL aspects of this life.

Sad to see with Newt in office, nothing will change; same circus, just different clowns.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-11-15/gingrich-said-to-be-paid-by-freddie-mac-to-win-republican-allies.html

as to draft dodger, he was stepson of miliary man who did not serve at heigth of viet nam. the material i have read, says he got student deferments not just for undergrad, but grad school too. got his phd in 71.

per this story he also got marriage deferment….http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/newt/vanityfair3.html

i was drafted in 69 so i know the games played….i used my student deferment for 4 years and my selective service board had a quota…..guess i could have gone to grad school and done rotc which at that time would have likely meant several months active with remainder of 6 years in reserves….

many friends of mine in this time period used student deferments and marriage and marriage with family to avoid serving….some friends that were not college ready joined the air force & navy in hopes of avoiding frontline service although even those bracnches did do quite a bit of direct combat, ie friend of mine in navy fought in nam on the rivers

“My only question for the “Conservative” folk (if TRUE conservatism is anything more than a myth): Why do you believe that Clinton’s indescretions trump Nixon’s when it comes to one party’s claim on values and morals?”

The answer to your only question is, Clinton, Edwards, and Gingrich could be called immoral. Nixon on the other hand was just a liar. I don’t believe I’ve read anything to indicate that anyone thinks Nixon was somehow less honest or moral than your man Clinton, they were both very wrong.

And to the Solyndra Circle Jerkers: Half a billion is quite a lot of money to lose. But I truely believe that the Bush-Paulson Scheme “dwarfs” those losses by a country mile!

I’ve been hearing and reading this kind of bs for almost three years now. If the phrase, “Well George Bush”, were banned from the English language, you so called progressives would be tongue tied.

For better or worse, Obama will handily defeat ever GOP candidate with the exception of one. Romney will probably be the one to actually take the beating. Herman Cain had a sliver of hope at making it to the big dance next November, but blew it when he opened his mouth. Rick Perry went the Herman Cain route before Herman Cain chose the Herman Cain route. Newt is way too angry and abrasive. Newt’s dirty laundry has dirty laundry. Ron Paul will give President Obama a good run. He is the new middle. He’s opposite the side of the circle of the old middle. He’s at 12 o’clock, Reps are @ 3, Dems @ 9 and the old middle @ 6.

If Paul should get the nomination, America would win. The conversation between he and Obama is one this country has long needed.

Biomass energy as a source of sustainable use of green energy is being more and more attention, which resulting development and use of
biomass energy equipment will trigger a new revolution in the 21st century. Biomass energy has a widely source,
low cost and no pollution, at this stage to straw, manure-based. In fact, China already has a number of biomass energy equipment in use, for example,

As people’s awareness to enhance the protection of the environment, I believe that the old energy equipment will be gradually replaced.

Obama 2012

November 17th, 2011
9:25 am

In a June 2007 op-ed in the Des Moines Register, Gingrich wrote, “Personal responsibility extends to the purchase of health insurance. Citizens should not be able to cheat their neighbors by not buying insurance, particularly when they can afford it, and expect others to pay for their care when they need it.” An “individual mandate,” he added, should be applied “when the larger health-care system has been fundamentally changed.”

And in several of his many policy and politics-focused books, Gingrich offered much the same.

In 2008′s “Real Change,” he wrote, “Finally, we should insist that everyone above a certain level buy coverage (or, if they are opposed to insurance, post a bond). Meanwhile, we should provide tax credits or subsidize private insurance for the poor.”

In 2005′s “Winning the Future,” he expanded on the idea in more detail: “You have the right to be part of the lowest-cost insurance pool and you have a responsibility to buy insurance. … We need some significant changes to ensure that every American is insured, but we should make it clear that a 21st Century Intelligent System requires everyone to participate in the insurance system.”

“People whose income is too low should receive Medicaid vouchers and tax credits to buy insurance,” he continued. “Large risk pools (association health plans are one model) should be established so low-income people can buy insurance as inexpensively as large corporations. Furthermore, it should be possible to buy your health insurance on-line to lower the cost as much as possible.”
