Rick Perry loses a Georgia supporter, and Newt Gingrich gains one

Throughout the summer, former state senator John Douglas of Social Circle – he ran for state Public Service Commission in 2010 — may have been Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s most ardent supporter in Georgia. Where two or more Republicans gathered, Douglas was there with bumper stickers and a petition urging Perry into the race.

But no more. Douglas posted the following on the Rockdale County Republican party’s Facebook page:

“After very careful consideration and lengthy discussions with many key supporters, I am leaving the Perry camp, effective immediately. I no longer see a path to victory for him and have had great difficulties dealing with his staff.

“I still like many of his policies and would have no problem voting for him if he is our nominee. Now I am endorsing Newt Gingrich for President and will spend time in the near future explaining that move. Suffice it to say tonight that Newt champions the culture war I believe in fighting and he is a brilliant, very well-spoken man. I am pleased to endorse him for President.”

@ td. Do you really get your “leader of the free world” action from Uncle Ted? Do you need a lesson (learned already by Arkansas Huck?)

You did not think what Uncle Ted said was funny? I did. I thought the board needed a little humor today.

It’s ok. The bets aren’t closed. But better check with the stable keep. Gingrinch’s skeletons will come flying out of the closet now that he’s on the radar. It’s why he was hoping Cain’s run would last a little longer.
The whole episode kind of reminds one of the Fred Thompson debacle back in 08. The horse traders need to figure out who’s trucking in these barn sours. Selah.

Newt has not been doing anything different, he just has not made the fool out of himself like the others have. But hey, give him a couple of weeks. Is Palin still riding around in her bus? She might be needed.

Gingrick is a bloated obnoxious chickenhawk who despises “pure” conservatives. If you knew anything about his history in the 1990s, when he was in charge, you’d know how he treated the true believers to countless examples of his temper tantrums. Not to mention how he has lied about his payoffs from Fannie Mae and his expenditures to Tiffany’s to keep wife #3 happy.

Newt took $1,6 million dollars ($1,600,000) from Freddie Mae and is a Adulterer and dumped his wife while she is in the Hospital suffering from Ovarian Cancer. God is Female Democrat. Newt needs an Abestoes Suit for Judgement Day. This is wher I get to say Burn, Baby, Burn. I got some gasoline cans topped off for that beautiful day, Newt. You going to get your s Newt.

There is a fight within the Republican party. The establishment (country club) Republicans want a business as usual person (Romney) and the conservative side (led by the Tea Party) wants a true conservative. This is no different then 4 years ago in the Democratic party with Clinton and Obama (I think that race went almost to the convention). I can guarantee you one thing, whoever the nominee is will have the support of all the Republicans in a united effort to defeat public enemy number one.

John Edwards political is OVER, unless of course he switches parties and becomes a Republican, then he can become a front runner for president again.

Forgiveness is a nice thing for families and such. That he has found superstition qualifies him lower than before in my view.

Who will identify a leopard that has changed his spots?

Newt has had an opportunity few politicians attain. He has seen his crackpot ideas put into practice and seen them fail miserably. But I’m sure there are more than a few blockheads in this state who still think he hung the moon and will waste their vote on him when given the opportunity.

That is the same thing as saying Clintons policies failed miserably because Clinton and Newt were the two partners in actually reducing our deficit and reforming welfare.

Some of us don’t abide by that free pass theory. He can partially rehabilitate himself, but never be totally forgiven by many. That’s just the way it is – reality.

In my opinion, Newt is the only candidate actually qualified for POTUS, including our current president. Unfortunately, he has to run against the liberal media as well as all the others. It would be nice to see him select a vp running mate who has extensive business experience to balance out their talents. Perhaps you should judge him on his Congressional experience and leadership rather than all the nonsense being “showboated” by the media.

I have read the comments. I am more convinced than before that some people are just stupid. Comments by self described liberals are understood and expected. But the arguments fall below the level of intelligent thought. One thing the Prez does not ever want is a one-on-one debate with Newt Gingrich. There are reasons for that. There are likewise reasons why Newt has a bump in the polls. The GOP field is narrowed to 3, maybe 4 and Newt is high on the list. We must expect Dems to pull out every non-issue attack possible. Alas, the Yellow Dogs cannot attack Newt or Cain on conservative principles or ability to lead by example.
