Last May, GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain gave an interview to the conservative Washington Examiner newspaper that resulted in these paragraphs:
But wouldn’t liberals and Democrats still find a racially-based way to attack Cain? They certainly found a way to attack Clarence Thomas, the black, conservative Supreme Court justice.
“They’re going to come after me more viciously than they would a white candidate,” Cain responded. “You’re right. Clarence Thomas. And so, to use Clarence Thomas as an example, I’m ready for the same high-tech lynching that he went through — for the good of this country.” Cain smiled broadly. “I’m ready for the same high-tech lynching.”
The prediction by Cain, a Baptist minister married 43 years, may be more accurate than he’s comfortable with.
On Sunday, Politico.com reported that, on two occasions during the 1990s, the National Restaurant Association settled claims by two female employees who alleged inappropriate behavior by Cain, who then headed the lobbying organization.
Fox News is already letting it be known that Cain, whom a Des Moines Register poll said holds a slim lead in Iowa, will appear on the network late this morning to answer the charges.
Cain’s spokesman, J.D. Gordon, didn’t do so well last night in a phone interview with Fox’s Geraldo Rivera, who attempted to wheedle a denial:
Said Gordon:
”I can tell you that we’ve seen this played out before. It’s just a prominent conservative leader targeted by liberals simply because they disagree with his politics. Mr. Cain deserves better than this.”
Which tells you that the specter of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is likely to figure into Cain’s defense today. Thomas’ 1991 confirmation hearing included testimony from Anita Hill, who worked with Thomas at the U.S. Department of Education and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. She alleged inappropriate behavior on Thomas’ part.
The withering response from Thomas became famous:

In an interview several days ago, on the topic of Iraq and Libya, U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss was critical of President Barack Obama’s foreign policy – but with a notable exception:
“He’s had Secretary [Hillary] Clinton out there. She’s a hard worker, has been a very forceful secretary of state, and has done an outstanding job.
This Washington Post piece offers something of an explanation:
Seven months later, with longtime U.S. nemesis Moammar Gaddafi dead and Libya’s onetime rebels now in charge, the coalition air campaign has emerged as a foreign policy success for the Obama administration and its most famous Cabinet member, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Some Republicans derided the effort as “leading from behind,” while many others questioned why President Obama was entangling the nation in another overseas military campaign that had little strategic urgency and scant public support. But with NATO operations likely to end this week, U.S. officials and key allies are offering a detailed new defense of the approach and Clinton’s pivotal role — both within a divided Cabinet and a fragile, assembled-on-the-fly international alliance.

On Friday, at an Augusta convention, Charlie Flemming was elected president of the Georgia AFL-CIO. He’ll replace the Richard Ray.

Might lions and tigers and bears on their way here? In a note to constiuents, the escape of exotic wild animals from an Ohio compound was on the mind of state Sen. Buddy Carter, R-Pooler, who wrote:
Although it failed to pass, during the last legislative session, SB 188 was introduced and would have allowed the creation of harvest-hunt preserves for the hunting of alternative livestock.
Also failing to pass during the 2010 session were two bills (SB 424 & HB 1270) that would have allowed the operation of exotic game ranches and exotic game licenses for those wishing to hunt on them.

Herman Cain is a complete fraud. His tenure at Godfathers was a failure, they lost market share, they cut 20% of their stores, and Pillsbury dumped them for a big loss. Cain reports only $100,000 of Godfathers equity after his management buyout.
His puny $3 million net worth is primarily from his AM radio connections and his Elmer Gantry style speaking fees as a “motivational” hack.
Now he has serious ethics problems.
Hitch your wagon to this Con man, GOP! You will be sorry.

Mr. Cain, get over it. You’re not just a talking mouth piece on Faux News anymore where you could say anything you wanted with no regard to the truth or day to day consistency and still have 95% of your listeners lapping up every word you say as the gospel truth. You’re running for President of the U.S. where your words are going to be scrutinized for truth, accuracy, and consistency. If you want to play in the big leagues start acting like it.

Wait a minute, let me clear my cobwebs. If this is some made up lie, concocted by the liberal media, then why did the National Restaurant Association settle a suit concerning this matter? Are we to assume that whenever a prominent conservative gets caught with their proverbial “pants down”, it’s going to be a contrived scheme by the liberal media to discredit them?

He wasn’t running for president when these charges were filed. So the charges weren’t of a political nature. They’re coming up now because he’s running for president, and , it’s important for voters to know the kind of man Herman Cain is. Blow some more smoke, maybe you can cloud the issue. This is the most ignorant campaign I’ve ever seen, Surely the Koch brothers can do better than this.

I think you’re projecting just a bit. I haven’t heard anybody say that he shouldn’t be allowed to run for office. If people are indeed saying that, then that’s not a reason to disqualify a person. However, whenever someone’s running for public office, especially one with the magnitude of POTUS, you should expect every little thing you’ve done in the past to be pulled out for all to see.
I’ve noticed that every conservative that has addressed the whole issue on Cain has automatically credited this as some “liberal” attempt at discrediting Cain. Politics in the US is a very dirty game, and it’s not above reproach that another GOP campaign “leaked” these details to Politico just to stir things up. Campaigns always anonymously release dirty information on their competitors when they think they’re losing in the polls. The way Cain is surging right now, I’d suspect another GOP campaign of trying to sabotage Cain’s standing right now just as much as I’d suspect some grand “liberal” character assassination attempt.

Sorry, I’m really sick of the double standard and hypocrisy of some the campaigns and supporters. We already have one great speaker with Teflon.
This allegation needs to be refuted, if not it goes directly to his ability to lead an organization. If this is true, this will be the second lawsuit payout that Cain has been involved in. Lots of baseless harassment charges are made for various political, disgruntled employee, and for economic gain. It is just a fact of business and political life anymore. Such charges always have a ghost effect even if dismissed, and political (media) opponents unfairly use it as a club as we see here. This statement from Herman Cain and the fact it was resolved will be purposely lost in the mist of repeating the accusations:
“I have never sexually harassed anyone, let’s say that. Secondly, I’ve never sexually harassed anyone, and yes, I was falsely accused while I was at the National Restaurant Association, and I say falsely, because it turned out, after the investigation, to be baseless. The people mentioned in that article were the ones who would be aware of any misdoings, and they have attested to my integrity and my character. Charles, I definitely could see it being Rove behind this. I detest the man and his crony fake conservatives. He is a pet for Rush Limbaugh now, his prized “architect”. But I am sick of the old guard GOP, they don’t really believe in small government. Just reallocating to their issues instead of the Dems’ issues. That is why I am so hopeful that Cain can win the nomination and put a real conservative up there for the first time in decades. Herman is a tough son of a gun, and he will fight up to the very end!

Let’s see if this is same old tactics:
Bush Sr. was asked what he knew and when about supporting the Contras
Clinton was asked about Jennifer Flowers
Bush Jr. was asked about being paid to fly in the Air Guard when he was not on drill
Kerry was asked about his Swift boat activities and awards
So EVERY candidate for president has something dredged up but THIS case is clearly shows liberal bias – NO it does not.

President Reagan having Reverend Jackson negotiate with Libya to get our downed pilot from his bombing run on Gaddafi; and my Battalion Admin Officer informing me there was a sexual harassment charge for [her direct quote], “laughing whenever a female soldier did something stupid.” A couple years later I walked into a meeting of six women planning to take out a boorish Captain through a synchronized placement of sexual harassment charges.
Republican’s wouldn’t dare speak against their, “best president ever,” but were quite vocal against Clinton and Obama’s bombs only campaign
Misuse of sexual harassment laws for quick financial or political gain have really cheapened our criminal justice system

Not one person on this blog or on TV or on radio or in another news organization can say Cain is guilty beyond doubt.
Settling a lawsuit does not provide proof of guilt, certainly when the party settling the suit is not the accused individual. If a settlement also determined guilt there would be far fewer settlements.
Cain is a black, personable, ordained minister and this personality alone leads to personal attention and what one woman, or two, may characterize as “inappropriate behavior”.
Or, these two women may have simply seen an easy target (the Association) who would settle rather than spend the many thousands of dollars required to fight the allegations. Both sides were using LAWYERS, the plaintiffs’ lawyers seeking an early cash bonanza but the defendant’s lawyers seeking a long trial to pad the pocketbook.
If, as has been surmised, Republicans are responsible for this leak then I will vote in the GOP primary for Cain regardless of the veracity of the claim. The GOP sees Cain as an outsider, and a threat, therefor the Party is concerned Cain could not be controlled if he won. I see that as a BIG POSITIVE.
The time has come to vote the professional politicians out of Washington – on both sides of the aisle.

Clem,
Easy as pie! 9-9-9- broadens the tax base. More people paying tax = more tax revenue.
Those in the “cash economy” would suddenly be paying tax rather than evading tax.
Also, from the corporate side, the companies “off-shore” would now be encouraged to bring operations back and rather than be a country avoided by multi-nationals due to our high corporate tax rate the US would become a “tax haven” for foreign coporations.
There is more but those are the basics.

Smoke @ 2:53,
If this was an answer to my post at 2:00, you missed the meaning or I was not clear.
My points were:
Black ministers are gregarious by nature and their friendliness could easily be misconstrued or simply used as means to make some $$$$$.
Cain was not the defendant, the Association was, and the settlement could well have been a business decision based upon the cost to settle versus the cost to litigate. Happens all the time when the individual is being accused but the organization is being sued.
The minister comment was relative to my first point above regarding his personality, not his character.
When there is corroborating testimony for the women involved, under oath, then we may be able to ascertain guilt but an accusation is simply that and nothing more, regardless of the payment of a settlement (see second point above).
The other side of this, from Cain’s position, could be that if the women were actually sincere in their claims why did they settle for money without an airing of their grievance? Because this was never about anything but money! A large Corporation or Association is an easy target.

If these charges were in 1991 why did they not come up when Mr Cain was running for President the first time? I know why he never stood a chance of get the vote. Now that he’s leading in the poles it show’s it’s ugly head. There must have been some sort of true to the allegations why would they pay to have the women keep there mouths shut. As in any payment made to keep your mouth shut there has to be some true to it.

Herman Cain is Beyond Doubt Guilty.
It Is Vital That We Know the Relationship Between Brain and Mind.
It is the brain that acts first and lets the mind manage the damage of clearing up the mess. It is the mind that feels guilty and at the same time tries to hide this guilt. The brain is like the small child that is being scolded by the mind/manager. The brain feels it wants what it wants like an addiction. The brain produces the emotionally challenged behavior and when confronted by the mind it acts as if it does not know what the mind is talking about. All this thinking activity of the brain takes place biochemically and all biochemical reactions have a physical impact on the body. When the brain is being scolded by the mind the brain wants to escape and this feeling of escape is physically reflected in the eyes. The eyes seem distant.
Lets take the case of Herman Cain. In his case one can clearly see from the distant look in his eyes that his brain wants to escape the scolding of his own mind! He is guilty! His mind is definitively trying to cover up the emotionally challenged behavior of his brain. He is also guilty of a bigger moral crime of knowingly lying.
The fact that one of the women was supposedly harassed over a two month period shows his brain’s emotionally challenged behavior was not a one time brain directed, without thinking act, which means it was not without the mind’s knowledge just an unconscious act. It does not look like a well deliberated mind and brain act like the likes of 24-7 horny Tiger Woods and Anthony Wieners of the world. But it was definitely a subconscious act which means it was a blind act of the brain which the mind wanted and accepted too. It is something like the brain committed the crime and the mind acted as a look out.
It was a repeat behavior in which the mind and brain were both involved. This means his stepping out of line was not merely a one time act. It means his brain and mind was not prepared to take no for an answer. I am sure over the years he must have repeated this emotionally challenged behavior with others too and so in the coming months more women will come forward.
The fact that she was paid one years salary means that Herman Cain’s own colleagues must have believed her allegations to be credible enough.
He is guilty of a bigger moral crime of knowingly lying because no one can forget such a big blot on one’s resume, especially some one running for the highest office of the most powerful country in the world. And if Mr. Cain’s mind really feels that he does not remember all these details then this raises very serious even more and more questions about the state of his brain and mind. If Mr. Cain’s recollection is fuzzy as he claims then his brain and mind is definitely not fit to lead this nation.
The woman must have felt afraid to report and so she suffered repeated abuse and when she felt she could no longer take it any more that she put her job on the line and she complained to the management. It is clear that the management sided with Mr. Cain because the woman had to get a lawyer.
I do not know anything first hand about this case but I do not need to as I am expert on the brain and mind relationship. Analyzing Mr. Cain’s body language it is very clear that he is guilty. It is not just the distant look in his eyes. His subconsciously pulling in his lips is also a clear indication that his mind is trying to cover up the behavior of his emotionally challenged brain and it’s own compliance in this mess.
This face/body language reading is just one of the practical applications of my US patented hypothesis!
We can and will have to bring body language reading to the level of pure science. This will help us in all kinds of relationships, even determining the quality of the wisdom level of the presidential candidates…
I would like to challenge Mr. Herman Cain to a debate on this and if I loose I will have my left hand skinned alive on CNN. I am this certain!
