With several glowing polls at his back, GOP presidential candidate and Georgia entrepreneur Herman Cain apparently thinks its time for his home state’s Republican leadership to take him more seriously. From Politico.com:
Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-Ga.) [said] that Cain – the former Godfather’s Pizza executive who’s been near the top of recent national polls – is coming to meet with fellow Georgia Republicans next Wednesday in his Cannon office.
“I’m looking forward to that opportunity,” said Gingrey, who is already endorsing Newt Gingrich. To date, Cain has not earned any endorsements in Congress.
While he scores well with local tea partyers, Cain has yet to obtain any endorsements from ranking leaders of the Georgia GOP. In addition to Gingrey, Gov. Nathan Deal and U.S. Reps. Jack Kingston of Savannah, Tom Price of Roswell, and Austin Scott of Tifton are still with Gingrich, the former U.S. House speaker. Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle has declared himself a fan of Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

The New York Times has had some chats with ex- staffers about chaos within the skyrocketing campaign of Herman Cain. Its report includes this line:
And then there was that e-mail to the staff about traveling in a car with Mr. Cain: “Do not speak to him unless you are spoken to,” the memo said.

Former state lawmaker Bob Irvin of Atlanta this week served as moderator of a forum for District 6 candidates for the state Senate, hosted by the Mt. Paran/Northside Citizens Association in Buckhead.
You’ll recall that District 6 was a Democratically dominated area of Cobb County – until the August redistrict session, when GOP lawmakers redrew its lines to include much of Buckhead. Its voter rolls are now Republican-heavy.
Irvin said Democratic incumbent Doug Stoner of Smyrna was invited, but didn’t show. All three announced GOP candidates — Josh Belinfante, Beth Beskin, and Hunter Hill.
The news from Irvin:
”All three said that they are opposed to the creation of Milton County unless Buckhead gets the chance to decide if it is in or not. While this may not be terribly surprising, given where the forum was, it was gratifying to us, because two of the candidates, Belinfante and Hill, are from Sandy Springs and Cobb respectively, and might have been expected to be less definite.”

Georgia Democrats on Wednesday shot this statistic at their compadres:
Latest figures show Georgia is one of only seven states to lose jobs in 2011 and ranks 49th out of 50 states in job creation since [Gov. Nathan] Deal took office.
That said, Deal appears to be in pretty good shape, according to a poll released Wednesday by InsiderAdvantage and Channel 2 Action News:
A statewide survey conducted last week, while he was traveling throughout China, shows Governor Nathan Deal within the margin of error of having a 50% approval rating in Georgia. The survey showed that 48% of registered voters in Georgia approve of “the job performance” of Governor Deal, while only 28% (the majority of which were Democrats) disapproved of Deal’s handling of his job.
The poll did indicate that 25% of Georgians said they either had “no opinion” or were “undecided” as to the governor’s job performance. But InsiderAdvantage CEO Matt Towery says that’s not a problem for Deal. Towery: “These days we generally see very popular governors around the level that Governor Deal is at…The old measure of being ‘vulnerable’ if less than 50% is long gone. Both Sonny Perdue and Jeb Bush were around 45% approval when they launched their reelection bids. And Deal is just in his first year…”

A former Democratic candidate for governor was in Washington on Wednesday. From Legal Newsline:
Former Georgia Attorney General Thurbert Baker said Wednesday that integrity of America’s courts is in danger because of companies that specialize in funding litigation.
Baker made the comment at the 12th annual Legal Reform Summit, which is put on by the Institute for Legal Reform. The ILR is an affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and owns Legal Newsline.
Baker said that companies only seeking the maximum profit might not have the best interests of claimants in mind.

Congressional leaders would be wise to steer very clear of Mr Cain. As time passes and more information surfaces, it’s very clear that he is in fact only a social conservative right winger who doesn’t have the experience necessary to win the nominee or run our country. He’s all about bigger Federal Government control and his associations are as questionable as Obama’s. His latest smoking ad is the beginning of the Cain Train going up in smoke.

It is time for our daily public educational announcement:
If you are a voter in Georgia and you think you are coming out next November to vote for President Obama then you need to know that your vote is not going to be counted. All of Georgia’s 16 votes for President will go to the Republican nominee for President and Obama will receive 0 votes from the state of Georgia. Obama already knows this and will only give a token campaign effort in the state. This is just to play all of you Dems to get your money.

My Congressman will switch his endorsement the moment the directive comes down from his corporate sponsors at Koch Industries. Until then, his only comments will be vague, overused jabs at the current administration under the guise of caring about some stupid social wedge issue, falsely inserting the term “job-killing” somewhere into the pointless, inflammatory rhetoric.

He has spent most of his term in China kissing up to the communists.
He begged Obama for strings attached federal education dollars.
He is begging Obama for deficit inflating Port Pork.
He wants the voters to ok the Republicans massive tax hike.

Somehow, I think the irony of Deal’s sojurn to China has been completely lost on the media as well as the people of Georgia. What does it say about American businesses when a leader of what’s supposed to be the best democracy and greatest economy on the planet has to go brown nose to leaders in a Communist nation in an effort to create jobs in his state?
What does it say about our country as a whole when we have to get communists to create jobs for us? We have citizens and business owners here who are actively advocating for not creating jobs here until their perceived “war on business” is ended. Have we have drifted so far to the edge of the cliff that we’re willing to not only risk our future, but leave our future in the hands of communists?

Our president thinks there are 57 states in America and still believes a Navy corpsman is a Navy “corpse-man”. He terms the inhalers that asthmatics use as “breathalyzers”. And he “reformed” our healthcare system.
More importantly, Obama caused 20% real unemployment and is said to no longer to speak but to one or two of his top advisers. He relies on himself for his own advice….about how to spur business creation. But he never created a single job and has no private sector experience.
But we’re still supposed to support Obama because if we don’t, Palin or the Koch brothers (none is an elected official) will “get” us. [Are the Democrat candidates to whom the brothers give campaign donations evil too?]
It’s easy being a lib. Just point at selected groups, call them “evil”, and say “there ought to be an executive order against that.”

Reagan had a 35% approval rating at one point during his first term.
We were hemorrhaging job losses to the tune of 700,000 per month when Obama was sworn in. The Dow was down to 8,300. GNP was in negative territory. Our foreign policy was a disaster. The real estate market collapsed. Lax regulation caused a banking meltdown. We were in a “Great” recession.
Now we are gaining jobs again, (except Georgia.) The unemployment rate is about to go well under 9%. The stock market is up. GNP is up. Our foreign policy is competent, and your talking points are outdated.

If they buy a 6-pack of coke while we’re buying millions of iPads, that does nothing for American workers. Businesses are taking full advantage of trade, but the American workers and taxpayers are the one’s footing the bill. Research the increase in taxpayer money that’s used to fund anti-counterfeiting activity now versus before we took all our manufacturing to China. Almost all perceived “savings” that businesses gain in outsourcing is paid for by taxpayers funding government enforcement of IPR rights.
Any country that does not and can not manufacture for itself simply becomes a crackhead nation looking for their dealer. America is slowly becoming crackheads of the world by relying on everyone else to make stuff for us. We’re on our decline as the economic engine of the world, and it has little to do with who’s in the White House and/or Governor’s House. Our business community has been steadily eroding our economic foundation for decades, and nobody’s gonna notice it until it’s too late. There’s nothing wrong with playing in the global economy. Things begin to fall apart when you don’t balance your consumption with your production. We’ve been way out of balance for a long time now.

But was it bailed out with TARP money?
GM may be a success story but to whom (BTW: how can you say it would not be as successful today if it would have been able to declare chapter 13)? Was it a success story for the stockholders, Teacher retirement systems, public employee retirement systems that had there stock totally held worthless? Maybe it was a success to the United Autoworkers union who was given controlling stock over the company?

std,
you are stretching in trying to keep democrats from the polls by acting like there is only one race on the November 2012 ballot
You are stretching out your butt cheeks and showing it to the world! If it was not for me educating you idiots on these boards, then all of you would be suffering at the hands of a wacko. You all should be very grateful that I am giving you my ass to kiss, for the world rests on my hands.

td,
To quote a sad, old, failed president, ‘There you go again’.
Union concessions WERE made to keep the companies alive. All the cofc ‘whine lines’ about union costs and regulations starving companies are so much crap.
Of course the mark-up on health care costs provided by the for-profit insurance companies involved with auto workers (and every other worker both union and non-union) add substantial costs to almost all products and services without providing any real improvement in value.
Wouldn’t it make more sense to harangue against the for-profit health insurance carriers and DO SOMETHING to pry their tentacles away from OUR dollars?

“But was it bailed out with TARP money?”
GM was bailed out with TARP money and Republicans had a fit about, it was Obama who decided to use TARP funds on the GM bailout and it proved to be a wise decision.

Is it dangerous to have that many limited intellect ‘leaders’ in the same room at the same time?
The Cannon building is old, I’d hate to see it disappear into a ’stupid-vortex’.

Didn’t our former Republican governor go to Cuba looking for a trade relationship? It seems to me that basically they just want to use the taxpayer dime to travel abroad. If Deal is like Perdue by the end of his term he will have lined his pockets well and not have to worry about money problems for the rest of his life.

If you worked in my business then it is not to hard to monitor a blog and monitor other systems at the same time. When you own your own business then you work 24, 7, spending 30 minutes to an hour per day typing is no big deal.

The travel on taxpayer’s dime is small potatoes when you look at the complete sell-out of the American worker. If you want to see why other countries are doing much better than us (Germany, Brazil, China, India), look no further than their domestic manufacturing capability and compare it to ours. Manufacturing is what built our middle class after WWII, and the destruction of our manufacturing is what is killing off the middle class.
People want to complain about unions, but unions only represent 12% or so of the entire work force. We allowed our politicians to get to intertwined in our educational system, and now it’s shot to hell. It’s only a matter of time before our faux economy completely collapses and puts this country into irrepairable ruin.

Herman Cain is in this to sell his book and make money. He has NO desire to become President. He has not established any sort of network in key primary states and he has no intention of doing so. He has made a name for himself in order to line his pockets with even more cash. Case closed.

Nobody is “blaming” the messenger, td. We are simply calling you out on your very UN-American attempts to convince people who don’t believe as you do to stay home on election day. You claim that’s not what you’re doing, but that is exactly what you’re doing. Every time you post your fascist drivel while claiming to tell the “truth,” you provide yet another piece of evidence to your true motive. Furthermore, with each passing day that you continue to “educate” us, you’re showing that you’re less and less convinced that the solid Republican domination of this state is impenetrable.
Calling me out for telling the truth? If there are Democratic voters in Georgia that stay home when they learn they do not vote directly for the President and there votes will not be counted is suppression then I fell sorry for the party. All the voters should already know this information and if Democrats are telling them they are voting for Obama directly then that is at the best misleading and at the worst voter fraud. I believe that voters should be informed of what they are doing. I think all these, so called advocates on either side, going out to Senior centers and “helping” people ill out absentee ballots or picking up people on buses, taking them to the polls and on the way “educating” them is nothing but fraud.
