Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich pair up for ‘Lincoln-Douglas’ debate

It looks like the two presidential candidates with Georgia roots are teaming up. From National Review Online:

A group of tea-party activists in Texas will host a “modified Lincoln–Douglas debate” between Herman Cain and Newt Gingrich next month.

Bill O’Sullivan, the treasurer of Texas Tea Party Patriots, tells National Review Online that both candidates have confirmed their attendance at the forum, which will focus on fiscal issues.

O’Sullivan says the event, which will be held on November 5 at the Woodlands Resort near Houston, will also feature Rep. Steve King (R., Iowa) as an emcee.

No word on who will be Lincoln, and who will be the Little Giant.

Herman and Newt may have split many a infinitive but I doubt either one has ever split a rail.

Would love to see Barry the great debate either one of those two in a debate of this style. He’d fall flat on his arse without his teleprompters…

This debate will either be one of the most entertaining or one of the most boring of the season. I guess this is Newt’s way of staying relevant. Debate with the front-runner one-on-one. He always was somewhat clever.

That could be interesting. I like Herman. And I do think he is a smart and practical man. However, Newt is going to be hard to beat when it comes to brain power. But, it could be fun to watch.

Methinks this is an opportuity to fully explain 9-9-9. More of a setup. Being both Georgians, I think Newt is trying to do his part in helping Herman.

And by “modified” they mean “just like the Lincoln-Douglas debates, if one had a lobotomy.”

I wonder how much Newt had to pay Herman to come and stand on the stage with him. Ol’ Newt is doing his best to stretch his dwindling dollars. Stand by for a revised, revisited, revamped, revolting version of the Contract With America.

We shall see how smart Herman is when given the time in a debate format that allows more than a sound bite. I know Newt is by far the smartest man running or currently in the white house to bad his own personal life is not going to allow him to be President.

so are u saying that whites have a harder time being elected president than blacks? if OBAMA was white there would be no PEE PARTY. sorry if truth hurts but we all know CAIN is just a minstrel show so repubs can claim to be not racist. OBAMA got elected in spite of being black not because of it. if its easier for black men to be president as u claim, why havent we had any? CAIN is lucky that the prez is black, if not he wouldnt be the “darling” of the party right now, which wont get him the nomination because this is the repub party we’re talking about.

So Cain is JUST a pizza guy huh? Actually he turned around several major corporations, was a chairman for the Fed Reserve in St. Louis and was a rocket scientist for the US Navy. He has a bachelors in Mathematics and a Masters in Computer Science. Too bad the dems are too small to look at facts and accept the good in someone. But I guess they are only “good” if they are liberal. Pitiful..

He has more practical experience than Obamaa did when he was sworn in. And I can’t believe the racist comments on here by the supposedly “enlightened” progressives. Blacks in this country make up about 18% of the population. So who voted Obama in? That’s right, white people. Imagine that…

To answer your question, if Obama was white with the policies he has put forward then the African American community would have thrown him under the bus by now. It is all he can do right now to keep Maxine Waters and others to keep their mouths shut.

As far as the Tea party. It was started because the conservatives were sick and tired of the Bush spending not because Obama was President. It did not become organized until he became President and passed his $800,000 billion stimulus package. You really need to do a little research on the facts and not just listen to the lame stream media.

I know I always rant about the shadiness of our federal government. It is time, however, to wave goodbye to the oppressive rule brought to you by Nathan Deal and associates. Things are obviously not working. Let us continue the dream that was cut short by this new evil regime. I will never be able to condone what Nathan Deal and his republican legislators stand for. I have met many of the current legislators in the house. They are not descent people. One should never vote republican party in the state of Georgia. They are only causing problems.

Jim, I’ve told you before and the AJC’s editorial stance indicates why you have not featured a local political fiasco in the making while mailing in the Herman Cain stories.

The HOT lane on I85 going primarily through the state’s most populous county is the elephant in the room that can’t get out and is now starting to wallow in its own effluvia. This little project of SRTA and GDOT that supposedly only cost 60 Million dollars for paint, signs and sensors but somehow received a 110 million dollar Federal “grant” is only the tip of the elephant’s tail. Future expenditures for HOT lanes alone tally 20-30 BILLION dollars metro-wide for lanes that SRTA asserts are not for revenue generation, will not even pay for themselves and WILL NOT RELIEVE TRAFFIC CONGESTION.

Last night a previously advertised “Town Hall Meeting” by Gwinnett Republicans received heavy attendance primarily because Sen. Renee Unterman had been quoted in various media outlets including the AJC that it would be a listening board for the HOT lane fiasco. Upon arriving the attendees were treated to 10 R’s spout rhetoric and encourage support of TSPLOST of all things. Republicans wanting to spend more billions and create new taxes so that their appointees and cronies can get a piece of the action. The world has turned upside down and I have to think that Tom Murphy is rolling over in his grave in LAUGHTER. At the outset of the meeting the constituents were told the purpose of the meeting was to hear them then when most figured out the scam after suffering through the speeches they were asked to leave. So even if to their obvious chagrin that Sen. Unterman had usurped their agenda what they called a “Town Hall Meeting” did not allow a viable forum for the town to be heard, only themselves and the representatives from GDOT and SRTA.

Meanwhile you continue with a farce playing out on the national stage. Face it. Agree or not with Cain, he has a snowball’s chance. Gingrich: Stick a fork in him, he’s done. Focus a little closer to home and I promise you this story has elephant legs and enough effluent to get on everyone involved.
