Saxby Chambliss: U.S. ‘must deal with the Iranian regime’

Below is U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss’ reaction to news that Iranian figures had been arrested in connection with a plot to assassinate – by a bombing in Washington D.C. – the Saudi Arabian ambassador to the United States.

Diane Feinstein, the Democratic chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said she was briefed last month on the operation. We’re assuming Chambliss was told at the same time. From Chambliss:

“I congratulate the excellent work of the FBI, DEA and other law enforcement and intelligence professionals who unraveled this plot before Americans or our allies were harmed. While I believe our justice system will deal appropriately with the defendant in custody, our government must also deal with the Iranian regime.

“In addition to allegedly sponsoring this plot, Iran has supported and provided weapons for attacks on our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. This has continued far too long with no repercussions. I urge the administration to hold the Iranian regime accountable in a direct and meaningful way.”

We should nuke them before they have the chance to nuke us since their President has said his second nuclear weapon has the US written on it.

Is Shameless going to suggest to raise taxes to pay for this? Or just more deficits for war mongering like the whole lot of Republicans adore?

Lets nuke everybody. Then with nobody left maybe the US can mind its own business.

Is this the same Saudi Arabia that fires on its citizens for protesting? Just want to make sure we aint protecting murderers and despots and risking war for their sorry arses.

Obama will just sit down and talk with our avowed enemies, or at least that’s what he campaigned about.

Saxby’s pivotal role in initiating our open border policy with Mexico, helped to provide the drug cartels’ assassins with easy access and cover in this country

I’m more inclined to believe the Iranians. The Americans have started too much war this last century.

“The most successful war seldom pays for its losses.” ~Thomas Jefferson

We’d have fewer of the ill-thought-out adventures if the politicians had to lead their National Guard units into battle.

Just heard some news reports on tv. Either this is the dumbest trooper ever sent to do a job or it has to be a frame up. The person gave way more info to the guy wearing the wire than anyone really requesting such a job would have done IMO.

Do not mess with Persians. They are smarter than us. They work harder than us. The majority of them have more money than us. They are nicer than us. They are a more compassionate and classy group than we have ever dreamed of being. They are simply a better all around group of people.

@Bootnewt, I think this will call for more than drones…I’m thinking we load up a few of the F22s and go have a picnic. I read, just last week, that Mahmoud I’manutjob threatened to park Iranian war ships off the US coast. That is both hilarious and disturbing. In my mind I heard US Navy Admirals down to seamen saying, “Here kitty kitty!” in response.

@td, spoken like a true persian.

Personally I could give a large one about the Saudi’s but the idea of having Iranians or their agents setting off bombs, shooting people, etc. on US soil is beyond annoying. Let us not forget that the Israeli Embassy and Ambassador was also to be a target here. They are our most certain allies–in spite of the shameful way Obama has treated them during his time in office.

Clarence is not a RINO, he has a 100% conservative rating with the American Conservative Union, which is funny since Dixiecrats hate unions. The word union should be replaced with sheep. He, like his Dixiecrat counterparts, have a proven track record of favoring nation building and regime change without having a clue as to how to pay for it.

Ga. Values, Just ask any Kurds if they think there were any WMD’s in Iraq.!! If this is a plot, its more likely to have been thought up by those genius who thought up the infamous Fast and Furious gun running scheme to take the public’s attention off of it. You know,Holder who’s likly to be indicted soon!!

Iran should just lay low until after the upcoming presidential election, if the Republicans recapture the White House, then it’s business as usual for terrorists. If anyone thinks Romney or Cain will agressively pursue global bad guys, they have another thing coming……they won’t feel that it’s fiscally feasible to do so.

Our involvement in toppling Mozadeh and enthroning the Shah didn’t work out too well. Neither has our extinguishing Iraq as a counterweight to Iran. With those two strikes against them, you would think that Republicans would be a bit more cautious now.

Herman Cain better revise his 9-9-9 plan.

It needs to become the 9-9-9-9 plan. Republicans need to start funding their wars. We need to add a 9% war sales tax.

Indeed I am, Retired. (Ask my wife) Under Obama, the US is conducting war in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, Somalia and Pakistan. I fault Chambliss because he slandered Max Cleland and Jim Martin, who in fact served honorably and I think are much more qualified to judge when America should engage in war. Mark my words, we will have soldiers on the ground in Libya soon.

And thank you for your service.
