I pray for his salvation, and in hopes that the good people of the 43rd Legislative District of Georgia elect someone whith some sense this time around. The only good he ever did our government was to make the rest of our Legislature not look quite so crazy by comparison. I can’t count the number of times I heard “Well at least he’s no Bobby Franklin.” Talk about faint praise.

Oh, and considering the 43′rd track record, I will pray for sanity, but I ain’t holding my breath on it!

Sounds like the legislature needs to replace the phrase, “at least he’s no Doug.”

In response to Doug’s comments: Rep. Franklin was a true man of God who stood for Biblical principles in all spheres of life – including government. Your remarks are based on ignorance of the Word of God and Jesus Christ or else you would acknowledge that Rep. Franklin stood for all the right things. May the good Lord forgive your callous and stupid comments and grant you salvation. Amen

At Doug….I pray for your salvation because by your comment, it appears you have the least understanding of true salvation, if you see Rep. Franklin that way. If standing up for one’s convictions and adhering strictly to the Constitution is crazy, it is sad, we don’t have more CRAZY people in public service. The last time I check, standing by convictions was an esteemed quality. But according to you sane people, selling your convictions down the highway is okay; than so be it, I want to be crazy too.

Doug’s comment and others just shows that Liberal part of the Democratic Party is heartless, vigor, cruel and not caring(that the Democratic Party throws out it is). It,is really SICK on article of the funeral of Rep.Franklin to say such things. But, that what the Cobb County Democrats and State Party stands forI,am sure Doug’s mother would be so proud of him.

Rep. Franklin was one of the sanest people under the dome. He understood good governance, righteousness and justice, and he refused to waver from them for the sake of political expediency. His constituents appreciate that, and will be hard pressed to find a replacement once Deal’s appointee gets done.

“Franklin had complained of chest pains Friday and planned to seek the advice of a family friend who is a nurse. Police found Franklin in his bed, dead.”

God rest his soul in peace. I suppose that whenever you die in your own bed God has been good to you. Unfortunately Bobby Franklin didn’t pay attention to the warning signs. Word to the wise.

I love when gay bashing, women hating, minority despising hacks call out liberals for being mean. PLEASE you people have made an art form out of it so get over yourselves. This man was divisive and cruel and said the most heinous things about those people he hated and we are all supposed to pretend that he was some sort of saint now?

How do you know Doug’s a Democrat? He just gave his opinion like everyone is entitled to do.

I’m not a Democrat or a Republican, but I can truly say that the majority of the hatred I’ve heard over the years is spewed from the right not the left.

Well let’s see Vernon… He called gay American citizens unrepentant drug dealers. He wanted to amend the legal code of this state to refer to rape victims as “accusers” instead of victims and compared the victims of the massive super cell tornado system that ripped across North Georgia to idolaters “praying to their god, FEMA”. Yeah… real nice guy. Sounds just like Christ.

Ever know a woman who had a miscarriage? If one of Franklin’s most frequently (and last) proposed pieces of legislation passed (HB-1 in 2011), women who miscarried could face murder charges had they not been able to prove the miscarriage did not happen as a result of human intervention.

From FOX NEWS: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/02/26/georgia-lawmakers-anti-abortion-proposal-punish-women-miscarriages/

So, in summary, yes, the man was a little nutso, though likely was a Christian, based on his beliefs. You see, Angela, people can have conviction, be a Christian, and be out of line with your beliefs, just like I was with Franklin.

Jeffery,

I agree Doug’s comments were out of line. But, how the hell did you determine he is a liberal or a democrat? You simply compound the problem by attaching labels that have no basis in fact. The only fact is his comment was heartless and inappropriate under the circumstances. End of story!

The man was nothing to be proud of. If he was a “true Christian,” I don’t want to be one of those kind of Christians. Death at any age is sad, especially when one is still young. There is no reveling over his death. I suppose he was dedicated to his convictions, warped as they were. If you think he was a great man, then your politics and your religion are overruling your ability to think clearly.

When someone passes away, it’s appropriate to offer condolences (and either fried chicken, a casserole, or some sort of dessert food) to the family, and a kind word to the bereaved friends. Period.

Arguing with someone who is no longer here is pointless. As such, I will save my strong words for the next person who tries to push that brand of public policy on the people of this state. Rest in peace, Mr. Franklin. There is no peace for the living.

Yeah–kind of like the hate that sends cops to your door when you’ve miscarried. And would follow that up with the freakin’ death penalty if you didn’t measure up to Bobby Franklin’s standards of fetal incubation.

This d00d wanted police interrogations and murder charges for women who miscarried. Complaining about insensitive remarks over his passing completely maxes out the hypocrisy meter.

Doug you are entitled to your opinion and while I very much agree with you, and you have every right to have your say as an American (Let’s not forget our Supreme Court approved Westboro Baptist Church picketing funerals – certainly more outrageous than your comments). Mr. Franklin was well thought of in his community, few things in life are all good or bad, he is gone, and he entitled to some dignity. He can’t speak for himself now and this must be a tough go for his friends and loved ones. I do pray for his family and friends at this very difficult time. Whatever he was or was not, he is child of God, and I hope he is now in His loving arms.

Case worker kept saying my paperwork was “lost”. Called Tom Price’s office, got no where. Called Mr. Franklin’s office, and his staff and he were wonderful. Got it fixed in nothin flat! Just because FOX News reported it, that doesn’t make it true. The clear reading of Bobby’s 2011 HB 1 bill demonstrates that a natural “miscarriage” was specifically NOT to be included in the definition of “pre-natal murder.”

For those of you who DO know how to read, and who CARE to be better informed, below is the link to the bill, and if you go down to Section 1, Article 5, Sub-section “b(2)”, it reads as follows:

“(2) ‘Prenatal murder’ means the intentional removal of a fetus from a woman with an intention other than to produce a live birth or to remove a dead fetus; provided, however, that if a physician makes a medically justified effort to save the lives of both the mother and the fetus and the fetus does not survive, such action shall not be prenatal murder. Such term does not include a naturally occurring expulsion of a fetus known medically as a ’spontaneous abortion’ and popularly as a ‘miscarriage’ so long as there is no human involvement whatsoever in the causation of such event.”

The bill specifically states that a ’spontaneous abortion’ and popularly [known] as a ‘miscarriage’ is NOT included in the definition of ‘pre-natal murder.’

Here’s the link to the bill: http://www1.legis.ga.gov/legis/2011_12/versions/hb1_LC_21_0916_a_3.htm

Read and then go tell FOX News that they are morons for following what Daily KOS said the bill was about without bothering to read it themselves.

Once again the so called enlightened and tolerant Left has no regard for humanity in general. They whine about hate but then give hate in return. It’s about as stupid as people saying “I hate hateful people”. Typical liberal nonsense. The Left wants you to tolerate them, actually give up your ideas and believe what they believe. But then criticize someone using petulant childish attacks who does the same.

It shows how the left has no regard for independent thought or humanity. If you do not goose step to their ideology they hate you, degrade you, and treat you less than human…..amazing that they say the right is the one who does this. Aquagirl talks about cops kicking down doors (first of all that is as much a fallacy as you can get since that is NOT what Franklin called for) but yet cheers on a blog because someone died. Hate speech in its finest.

Bobby was a principled man. I disagreed with him frequently, but he earned my respect in how he handled the flag debate – it proved he was a man of principle over politics. He voted for a change in the flag not because he wanted one or believed one was needed, but rather, because “it caused his brother to stumble”. And he couldn’t willingly do something that would cause his brother pain. Vaya con Dios, Bobby.

Aquagirl

Bill, If you’d bother to engage your brain cells when reading you’d realize proving there is no human involvement whatsoever in any miscarriage is darn near impossible. If a woman took cold medicine after she got pregnant, who’s going to decide if it was a contributing factor, and whether she knew she was pregnant when she took it? Oh, yeah, THE GOVERNMENT. And spare me the poo-pooing about how the bill wasn’t intended for “nice” or unintentional miscarriages, this kook wanted the death penalty. Trusting anyone like that is a big mistake. Not to mention all the people down the line who would be responsible for implementing this law….Oh, wait, you don’t have a uterus, why don’t you go snivel about somebody who wants to–god forbid—register your guns? It wouldn’t interfere with your right to bear arms, you’ll be able to keep them—-don’t you trust those people?

Actually this find it a fascinating window into the wingnut mind. The people in Bobby Franklin’s district scream and pee down their legs about government death panels, yet their very own homegrown wingnut openly proposed an actual death panel and they’re upset about the fuss.

I’m terribly sorry Bobby’s nose has to be encased in a coffin, but thankfully it’s out of everyone’s business. And his constituents should be ashamed they ever elected him, most don’t even seem aware of what the h3ll he was doing in the legislature. That’s an outstanding constituency.

Being tolerant of others doesn’t preclude me saying they’re a**holes. It doesn’t mean I’m advocating and passing laws to make them criminals simply because they are different or believe differently. You self-righteous thugs brazenly claim to be “christian” but demonstrate the most unholy character that would make a Taliban proud. Franklin was a hypocrite and just because he died doesn’t negate that. I’m not going to lie and pretend anything differently.

Has anyone considered that maybe, just maybe we love Bobby for being Bobby and not the things he did we could to find some love in ourselves to share with others.
