A bouquet of flowers from Roy Barnes — to the chairman of the Georgia GOP

When newly re-elected state GOP chairman Sue Everhart arrived home from an out-of-town trip on Wednesday, she found a sizeable bouquet of flowers on her porch.

There was a card attached, which read: “I couldn’t beat Nathan Deal, but you did.” It was signed, “Your friend, Roy.”

Democrat Roy Barnes, defeated by Deal last November in an attempt to return to the Governor’s Mansion, confessed to the delivery – which followed Everhart’s defeat of Tricia Pridemore, Deal’s choice, in the race for chairman at Saturday’s state GOP convention.

“I admire Sue’s courage, and she has been a mainstay in our community,” Barnes said of his fellow Cobb County resident.

Everhart confirmed delivery Friday afternoon. “I will not deny it. I tried to call him and thank him,” she said. But if he truly, truly liked her, the former governor would vote Republican, Everhart said.

” But if he truly, truly liked her, the former governor would vote Republican”:

So Everhart wants Old Roy to become a sadomachoist.

I guess that depends on whether you know Ol’ Roy or not. He is ‘class:, but I won’t discuss WHAT class. The state is far better off with him returning to his law practice even if he will be filing suit against the state at any given opportunity.

This State deserves a lawsuit every day. It is the shoddiest-run state in the nation. Nothing but good ‘ole boys and fools run this state.

And if the delivery boy had slipped on Sue’s front porch, he could have hired Roy to sue her. Thank God Nathan saved us from four more years of his insufferable arrogance.

A very cheap and easy way to get your name out there….you got to give it to Ol’ Roy – he is a funny guy. How else would two newspapers get hold of this story?

So Roy is arrogant? He asked that teachers be accountable and Sonny Perdue called him a rat king. But Sonny Perdue is an honorable man. Roy set in motion education policies to reduce student teacher ratios like Bush did in Texas. Sonny Purdue called him a rat king. Sonny Perdue removed incentives for teacher excellence, fired their parapro assistance and furloughed the lot of them. But Sonny Perdue is an honorable man. Roy’s courage enabled him to face the inevitable truth about the flag approved in the racially charge 1950s and Sonny pandered to those who rallied for that flag and all it stood for. Sonny turned his back on them when elected. But Sonny Purdue is an honorable man. Arrogant? Roy grew the state and left it with a large “rainy day fund” Sonny spent it. But Sonny Purdue is an honorable man.

The whiny blog comments not withstanding…

The actual gift was very gracious and shows there is indeed honor amongst theives.

But I’m with Andy: how exactly did the papers come to know about this personal delivery? There’s another story behind the story that could be just as interesting.

Some advice for the Chairwoman.

If you get your party to vote for $30 million in tax cuts for Delta, don’t have them get kick backs in their campaign accounts.

The real class act here is Barnes. Notwithstanding predictable commentary from the likes of LMS, at least Barnes took on issues of importance to Georgians and didn’t spend his time lining his pockets like Sonny Boy did.

Sue Everhart and her supporters, deserve the respect and recognition by taking on, and eventually thwarting a clear and unmistakable attempt by the new governor to control the party purse strings.

Sue comes from the grass roots. And the grass roots supported her to keep this financially flawed governor from running everything!

Nathan…after your inappropriate use of the Governor’s Address to promote your hand-picked candidate, and then getting your a$$ handed to you by the GOP faithful, why don;t you show some class and send Sue a congratulatory bouquet.

On second thought…nevermind. It’s too late for you to show some class.

with these kind of attitudes and comments there’s no way the GOP can come together to defeat Obama and the democrats in 2012. The GOP and especially Georgia’s GOP is just to divided at this time.
