Fox News suspends Newt Gingrich while he sorts out presidential ambitions

On Tuesday night, those following Newt Gingrich’s dance toward a presidential race were confronted with two contradictory messages.

The Des Moines Register quoted Gingrich confidante Joe Gaylord as saying that the former U.S. House speaker would announce the formation of an exploratory committee on Thursday in Atlanta. Yet an urgent message from Rick Tyler, the Gingrich spokesman, arrived at 9 p.m., playing down the importance of Thursday’s joint press conference with Gov. Nathan Deal.

One wonders if the Tuesday night decision by Fox News to send letters to both Gingrich and Rick Santorum, suspending their work as contributors for the network, may have played a role as well. From the Los Angeles Times:

Dianne Brandi, the network’s executive vice president of legal and business affairs, said in an interview that the channel made the move because Gingrich aides told Fox News executives that the former House speaker is stepping up his exploration of a presidential bid.

While Gingrich is not expected to announce that he is forming a federal exploratory committee this week, he is expected to say in Georgia on Thursday that he is meeting with advisors to explore seeking the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, a Gingrich aide said….

Brandi said the network acted out of journalistic principle.

“We can’t have Speaker Gingrich on our payroll while he is in the midst of an exploratory committee to see if he’s going to run for office,” she said. “It’s a clear conflict.”

Fox News still has two other potential White House contenders on the payroll: former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

“As soon as each of them shows some serious intention to form an exploratory committee, we would take the same action,” Brandi said. “Huckabee is on a book tour, so I think his present intention is to sell books.”

It really doesn’t matter what Newt, Sarah, or Huckabee the other like them do. If the Republicans put up a candidate like them, Obama will coast into a re-election.

Herman Cain is probably one of 2 or so that have a legitimate shot at beating Obama. That’s it, folks. There really isn’t anything to discuss or wonder about. That is as simple as it can get.

All of the other talk and yap about the other 10+ Pub candidates is just meaningless drivel.

Obama: “I will be the most transparent President ever”.

Truth:
• During the presidential campaign, Obama released just one brief document detailing his personal health, while GOP opponent John McCain released what he said was his complete medical file totaling more than 1,500 pages. The Obama campaign eventually released some routine lab-test results and electrocardiograms for Obama.
• Obama refused to offer his official papers as a state legislator in Illinois and did not produce correspondence, such as letters from lobbyists and other information, from his days in the Illinois State Senate.
• Obama did not release his client list as an attorney or his billing records.
• Obama declined to release his college records from Occidental College, where he studied for two years before transferring to Columbia University.
• Obama’s campaign refused to give Columbia University, where he earned an undergraduate degree in political science, permission to release his transcripts. Such transcripts would list the courses Obama took, and his grades.
• Obama’s college dissertation, reportedly titled “Soviet Nuclear Disarmament,” has disappeared from Columbia’s archives.
• Obama did not agree to the release of his application to the Illinois state bar, which would clear up intermittent allegations that his application to the bar may have been inaccurate.
• Obama has not released records from his time at Harvard Law School.
• During his campaign for president, Obama promised he would make his White House “the most open and transparent administration in history.”

Get your head out of the dark Fox anal cavity.
Fox lies every time they falsely accuse democrats of being socialists and communists–especially since Fox is already in bed with the Chinese Communists. Literally, lol. Yep, the father of Rupert Murdoch’s wife, Deng Wendi, is a prominent member of the Chinese Communist party. Deng Wendi’s birth name was “Wenge”–literally meaning “Cultural Revolution”, in honor of the most devastating period in China’s Communist history.

And of course Fox News has a long history of propaganda joint ventures with state-run China Central Television and The People’s Daily (the mouthpiece of the Communist Party).

“In meeting with Murdoch, Liu, also member of the Political Bureau and of the Secretariat of CPC Central Committee, appreciated the active work Murdoch has done in advancing cooperation with China’s news media.” –The People’s Daily Online, Nov. 10, 2006

The problem we really face is the finger pointing I see going on here. I vote Republican but the truth is Republican and Democratic administrations have been ruuning up massive foreign debts for years while blaming the other party for it.

Until we as voters put our own partisan agendas aside and hold both parties accountable they simply won’t change. The Tea Party was a good idea but their voice is too shrill to take them seriously for the long term. For example, Sarah Palin can preach to the choir with the best of them but she will NEVER win a national election. I disagree with very little of what she says but I am also realistic.

When in control, both parties have borrowed obscene amounts of money from foreign governments to cover budget shortfalls. While we argue with each other they laugh all the way to their next re-election (and the bank) while our children and grandchildren will be forced to repay loans that absolutely will not be forgiven.

Wake up folks, its way past time to quit the constant bickering and get to work. If we don’t do it together no politician ever will.

Let me educate you since you seem not to pay attention to anything other than FAUX NEWZ and the band of political thugs they have on their payroll.

Obama took the helm of a country in the midst of a SEVERE RECESSION that YOUR party (the conservative retards) created! Not him. He put out the fire that is still simmering because it was so hot from that idiot Bush spending billions on defense (Iraq, middle east, etc.), steering billions to his friends in no bid contracts, lowering the top 2%’s tax burdens, TAKING OUR COUNTRY FROM A SURPLUS TO TRILLIONS IN DEBT WITH OUR DEFICIT, all while cutting education, shipping jobs out of the country, and not giving a damn if folks don’t have affordable healthcare or not! Are you kidding me? You should thank him for not turning his back on ungrateful folk like you.

On top of that I think that it is “Hilarious” that the RIGHT is so racist that Herman Cain is attacked by his own party! Herman, you are in a group that doesn’t want you, just like Mike Steele (we saw how you guys treated him). Although Steele was a complete bafoon. The top 2% is running the Right and manipulating you guys via social issues: gays, blacks, hispanics, abortion, etc. While you guys are sooo focused on those issues, they (the Right) are steering funds away from schools, services, healthcare, and other areas to their corporations and no-bid contracts. Dick Morris Invents, And Then Retracts, Clinton-Reno-Waco Story. On the April 19 edition of Hannity, Dick Morris claimed that Bill Clinton had told him that he had retained Janet Reno as attorney general because she threatened to “tell the truth about Waco.” Morris explained that this story “had never been said before.” The next day, Rush Limbaugh picked up Morris’ story, claiming that “Reno’s appointment to a second term as attorney general was to keep her quiet about the Waco invasion.” One day later, Morris appeared on Fox & Friends to walk back the false story, claiming to separate “the facts” from his “conjecture based on the facts.”

Yeah, that Dick Morris, Jimbo. Realized that his lies and embellishments were more appropriate for the GOP.

There is one thing that can make or break Newt and his presidential run and that is the state of America and the world. If there is continuous uphevels in the mideast, a bad or weak American economy, union uprisings and protest, Newt will have a chance of winning the nomination and the presidency. Newt is clearly the sharpest politician (other than Obama) in America today. Well, things have gotten FAR WORSE economically, and we have become a joke in World Affairs. What was his statement about how the unemplyment rate would never get above, what was it, 8.5%? How high is it now?! Plus, it has been artificially held down by temporary stimulus-induced jobs, that we should have learned don’t work long term, way back during the New Deal (see recession of 1937, in the middle of the Great Depression, lol) . We’ve seen repubs placing troops in Iraq for almost a decade, baby sitting Iraq for years, borrowing to do it, losing over 4000 American lives in a nation-building effort. I’m sure intelligent Americans would rather see democracy come to these countries, without the U.S. being the nation-builder.

After all is said is done, we may see regime changes in 4 countries, while the repub drive to nation-build in Iraq, (cause Saddam was hurting his own people….which were shia muslims, who hate the U.S.) is still going on, after 8 years…and billions of dollars.

I admire your admission that Obama was far from qualified for the office he sought by conventional standards. I don’t think anyone disputs Obama is intelligent. What I disput are his policies. Frankly I can’t think of a single thing I agree with him. That doesn’t make him bad or evil in my eyes, just wrong. I think his policies are the most radical we have ever had with the distinct possibility of killing our great country if allowed to contine for a second term.

As far as the republican party is concerned of course there is disorder right now. Just like in 2007 for both parties. Unfortuately we nominated our weakest candidate in 2008 and did poorly. There will be a good candidate for the republicans in 2012. I hope you and all the Obama supporters continue to think re-election is a given. The GOP has a much bigger problem than whom they will select as their Presidential candidate; they have an image problem that they refuse to address:

….from the Washington Post:

GOP’s anti-immigrant stance could turn Texas into a blue state

Don’t look now, but Texas is turning blue.

Not today, to be sure, nor tomorrow. But to read the newly released census data on the Lone Star State is to understand that Texas, the linchpin of any Republican electoral college majority, is turning Latino and, unless the Republicans change their spots, Democratic.

Figures released last month by the Census Bureau show that during the past decade, Texas joined California as a majority-minority state: The percentage of whites in the Texas population declined from 52 percent in 2000 to 45 percent in 2010, while the percentage of Latinos rose from 32 percent to 38 percent. Nearly half of all Texans under 18 – 48 percent – are Latino.

Texas is hardly alone in this epochal demographic shift. In the first four states for which the Census Bureau released detailed information – New Jersey, Louisiana, Mississippi and Virginia – the number of whites under age 18 actually declined in the past decade. The numbers of Latinos and Asians among the young, by contrast, are soaring, and they are highest among the youngest.

Nationally, whites are now a minority – 49.9 percent – of Americans age 3 and under. In eight states and the District, according to an analysis by the Brookings Institution’s William Frey, minorities comprise the majority in pre-K and kindergarten. Looking at all school enrollment, from pre-K through graduate school, Frey told the New York Times’ Sabrina Tavernise, whites were 58.8 percent of all students in 2009, down from 64.6 percent in 2000.

What these numbers mean is simply that the Republicans have an existential problem. As America becomes increasingly multiracial, the Republicans have elected to become increasingly white.

Have to address the image before addressing the candidate……wouldn’t matter who the candidate is!!

Saddam WAS hurting his own.. but we didn’t go to “nation build”… If you remember , 9-11 played a great deal in the War in Iraq. Democracy and the quest for it in the middle east is spreading… read the news. People deserve to be free from Dictators, or do you not agree with that?

We’ve been borrowing from China for a 100 years.. Your current president has borrowed about 3 trillion just in his two years..

What you are missing is that the Middle east will do anything to destroy the very America you live in. If we aren’t pro-active in playing a part in shaping democracy, our time is VERY limited.

BMDPB
The problem with most on the right is that most have never been a victim of circumstance and therefore don’t understand it. We live in the United States of America, the GREATEST country on the planet! If I am born to a single mother on crack, or just a single mother or father who is uneducated and poor, or just born into poverty period, I STILL SHOULD HAVE A CHANCE TO SUCCEED!
In real life, I am adopted myself, and by the grace of God I was adopted by two wonderful parents who worked hard, were successful, and educated me via their lives and via great schools. I do very well myself because of their sacrifice.
But, had I NOT been adopted who knows what my life could have turned out to be. I mentor kids (in my spare time) and every one of the underpriveledged kids who are exposed to alternatives, mentorship, and education, eventually escape that poverty. What that means to me is that WE THE PEOPLE have a responsiblity to those less fortunate than us. I got very lucky, but think of the millions of kids that don’t get so lucky. If the Right is successful on their attack of the public school system (steering funds away from the schools without working harder to fix them), offering no affordable health coverage options for the working class, and especially trying to dismantle unions, the result will be far more devestating than you think. Stupid people, with no healthcare, no jobs or money will eventually find a way to survive which will put is ALL in harm’s way.
We have to educate (at all costs, close the bad schools, mirror the good one’s), provide affordable heathcare to all (I don’t care how we do it, just DO IT), revamp the welfare and public assistance programs to mirror programs that make the participants learn a trade and job search as a mandatory step to getting assistance, and give breaks to companies that expand in the US that will create jobs. My agenda is the same as Obama’s. We care about the people of this great nation.
The idea that everyone starts out with the same sheet of music, is hogwash. The circumstance that you are born into is not anything that you can change, but in a great nation like the US you should have a chance to be WHATEVER you want to be. If your parents can’t provide it (again because it is no fault of your own) then the government should provide a school system, mentoring, exposure, healthcare, etc., via public means so that that individual has a fighting CHANCE to be GREAT!!!

Please do not respond with the typical “you want the gov’t to take care of folks”, No, I want the gov’t to provide the level of services that WE THE PEOPLE DESERVE, the rest is up to that person.

I love the poeple who keep saying Bush lied about Iraq. I just watched the interview with the Iraqi scientist who admitted to lying to the German intelegence agencies about all of the mobile chem labs and providing the Germans with all of the information. The Germans would not let the CIA interrogate him (probably would have gotten the truth out of him). He said he would do it again to save his country and has not regrets about his decision. So W, the worst speach giver in the last 100 years, one of the least respected presidents convinced England, Germany, France, Italy, etc… That Sadam had weapons? NO, every intellegence agancy in the world thought they had them. Why were we searching for WMD’s under Clinton? Did W convince him to do it. The only thing Bush did was act on faulty information. HE DIDN’T MAKE IT UP. The world agreed with the assumption. While we did not find WMD’s we know the guy had some and used them on his own people. We knew he was trying to get some. In the end I smile because Bin Laden was pissed we had a military base on holyland. We also just took two more countrys. If nothing else that has to piss bin laden off. BMDPD,,,you have to be kidding me. Seriously, you don’t think we were hearing Bush and repubs saying “Saddam was hurting his own people”. You must be using selective memory. I can find quotes if needed.

You’re also ignore many many comments that Bush admin cherry picked the intel to support invasion.

Now even with that said, Repubs agreed to nation-build, while using borrowed funds from nuke power, and economic competitor China…which only makes them stronger.

Am I missing something there? Those comments seem to go directly against what repubs stood for. But you guys went along with it. Nation building with US troops, on borrowed funds.

And its been the biggest U.S. policy blunder ever. No wmd found, and 8 years later, and 3 terms of Iraqi leadership, we’re still babysitting a “transitional government”.

Like I said, if we spent as much protecting U.S. borders as we did in Iraq, we’d have a pretty tight border. But repubs sent that money to Iraq.

I don’t see where any of my comments are off-point…or wrong. You may state different goals, but the event mentioned still hold. We’re nation-building, and we had no funds to do it.

BMDPB. The flaw is that you want to put everything on the backs of tax payers and businesses. Then you wonder why they can’t find a job that pays well or has decent health care when they graduate from college. Why do we tax savings and investment. I should be able to max out a 401k. Why limit it to 16.5k? Should we not incourage people to take car of themselves. If I invest in a company that will provide jobs to others I am punished with a tax for creating this opportunity if my risk pays off and I make a proifit. Why on earth would we create a system that discourages savings and investment. I am taking care of myself and creating opportunities for others and I will be taxed. No capitol gains tax. Create tax free savings accounts for retirement. Create a strong economy. Every dollar the government takes is one less dollar for me to spend save or invest. How does that help anybody. I gues it helps someone by smoke so they can sit home and watch judge judy rather than work.

Newt hasn’t a chance. Huckabee is the candidate we want if we want to beat Obama. Conservatives had better figure this out or we’re in trouble again. Normally, ANY candidate would have an easy time against Obama, but when you have an entire constituency voting color of skin instead of content of character – then you get the disaster that is Obama.
Fox News – say what you will about them. They present BOTH sides which is refreshing. It must be working because they continue to be the only news agency who grows their audience. All the others lost market share – hmmmm? wonder where those viewers are going?

Newt, with all his bagage, will blow Bo off the stage in ANY debate even if they allow BO to use his teleprompter. Newt and Herman Cain would be a PERFECT ticket, Mark my words,

For all you naysayers who think only your eighty-five year old grandmother is watching Foxnews should take notice of ratings. There are not that many grandmothers alive so someone else (a majority thank you) is watching.

All these teleprompter “jokes” are just stupid. EVERY politician uses teleprompters… or hand scribbles in Palin’s case.

Jon Huntsman, anyone? Probably the most moderate, therefore electable, person the Republicans might have. Him and Mitch Daniels.

As a soldier under the original Bush, I knew then that they (right) were risking young lives for a stronghold in the East, but I did the job that I was payed to do. I also saw the transparent reason that the dimwitted but likeable son (W) attacked again. Both spending much money while cutting taxes for their rich friends (and themselves). Now, I placed my first vote ever for Bob Dole. Later, I met many rich people in law school, who were expecting that everyone at GSU College of Law was of like mind. They spoke very openly of how the poor were only poor because they were lazy or ignorant. I was working my way through school, and was well below the poverty line. I have learned that we all are doing the best that we can, and, while there is waste in the system, many programs that are payed for by taxpayer dollars do help people who would have a tough time otherwise. I now believe that the healthcare reform is the most significant legislation since social security, and that attempts to repeal the reform will bite everyone on the right on the buttocks. I did not know enough about President Obama to vote for him in his first election, but his efforts have impressed me and I will vote for him in ‘12. And yes, I’m a white cracker from the south who says that a poor man that votes Republican is like a chicken that votes for Colonel Sanders.

Are you better off today than you were 2+ years ago? Is the country better off today than it was 2+ years ago? I didn’t think so, and it is only getting worse. We shall see you in 2012! BTW, the D’s took over a majority in Congress in the 2006 elections, remember?!

Voice of Reason:

“Lie after lie after lie after lie comes from their programming. Their talking heads only talk to each other, and they consider no opinions that differ from their own.”

You just described ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC and CNN.
