The St. Paul Pioneer Press has a piece today about the dangers encountered by Republicans who dare to criticize Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachman, whose tea party following served as a platform for her own personal response to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address.
The article includes two paragraphs that tell what happened to a particular Georgia congressman last August, in the hours after the Republican runoff for governor, after he agreed that Sarah Palin should “butt out” of local races:
Rep. Jack Kingston, R-Ga. — who has a long conservative voting record — said he learned the power of Palin’s following the hard way after suggesting she stay out of Georgia’s Republican gubernatorial primary on a radio show.
“There was a firestorm in the office for about 24 hours,” he said, with people “questioning my Republican conservative credentials” in phone calls. “To Sarah Palin’s credit, you have a national network of very energized fans.”

Chris Christie should be the Republican nominee for 2012 – if he would accept it. In the political world of, “Tell them what they want to hear”, he is an almost startling breath of fresh air.

Palin supporters are in a minority as ice is to a glass of water and will be the solid force that will put any candidate she backs over the top. The left leaning commenters on any website about Palin can never debate any issue Palin speaks about. They only make it a personal attack of either Palin or her supporters. Your belittling of Sarah Palin using words that belittle the majority of Americans..Present your debate on issues not belittling small town people like her that hunt, fish, or did not attend an Ivy League school which is the majority of Americans…hence voters.

If they did not view her as a threat, you would hear nothing at all from them about Palin.

too bad Obama wasn’t in on that TNT discussion with his black basketball bros,I can just see his nervous laugh when Barkley brings up Palin and then Morgan goes off the deep end of ignorance with his truly unbelievable prime time mba comment. Boy this will bring 30 Rock to the height of hypocracy. You know if his thinking about Palin he’s probably got it bad for Fey too. Rough work environment.Hey Barack or Barry you better get a beer summit going on the use of the word masterbation, haven;t heard that since Jocelyn Elders in the Clinton White house.

Bachmann is a Palin clone. I would love to hear these two debate without using the words exceptional, freedom, commonsense, forefather, drill, reload, straight talk, maverick, doggone, racist, God, teleprompter, or any other buzzword that populates their speeches.
What a pair of empty barrels! They are threats to their own party because they chase away independent voters and most certainly moderate or centrist voters. You need these demographics to win an election.
The people defending these two are even more hilarious. You can tell on these blogs who watches and reads more than right-wing or left wing news (their own viewpoint).
Run baby run! America loves a good train wreck!

I agree with you about reading/watching left or right wing news. I’m sure you enjoy MSNBC and really miss Obermann. Bachmann is a clone? That’s shows how uninformed you are. The Dems made Bachmann’s defeat a priority in 2010. What happened? Her margin of victory increased in good old liberal MN.
I don’t think either Palin or Bachmann will be the standard barer in 2012, but both are strong voices in the party, much like Maxine Waters and Hiliary are for the Dems.

Retired Soldier,
I don’t watch MSNBC or CNN and I can’t stand Olbermann either. I am happy Olbermann was fired.v One less loud mouth!
Midterm elections often swing to the party not in power, and generally there is a low turnout in comparison with Presidential election years. So I attribute what happened in Minnesota and all other successful Tea Party candidate wins to that more than their individual credentials or appeal. I think the philosophy is “vote the bums out”.
I agree that Palin and Bachmann are not the standard bearers for the Republican Party but are strong voices. I just think they have painted themselves into a corner and will have too difficult of a time appealing to the “middle” at this point. Bachmann and Palin are a lot alike in their comments and criticism of the current political climate and administration. In order for them to be viable candidates, they need much broader appeal, and neither is taking the steps so far to energize anyone but their base. Time is ticking. That’s why I called them clones.
I am an internet junkie, and I read and listen to stuff from both sides. My critiques are about electability, and in my opinion those two are following the same path. I am a centrist, a little left leaning with social issues and a little right leaning religiously. They need my vote.
Have a great day, and thank you for your service to the country!

I don’t see Sarah Palin as a serious contender for the Republican presidential nomination, but she has a function in the race. She raises money and causes the hatred in many lefties to come to the surface. I don’t think at this point she is susceptible to the media taunts. She laughs all the way to the bank and lends her weight to candidates, also hated by the left, who can win. This “ignorant redneck” is playing the left and getting rich while she does it.

Did you see the look on Greta van Sustern’s face when Palin kept saying “WTF”? It was like she wanted to tell her to stop saying it but she couldn’t. Hilarious.

If I am President Obama, I am down on my knees every night thanking God for smiting the Republican Party with Sarah Palin, and thereby ensuring my election to a second term when I shouldn’t have a ghost of a chance of being re-elected. That ditzy, airheaded, bigmouthed money grubbing self-promoter, TV reality show star (doesn’t that just sum it all up? – a reality TV star?) is determined to interject herself into the Republican presidential nomination contest, and drive the intellegent, clear thinking Independents right back into the arms of Obama. Palin on the stage and in debates with Romney, Gingrich, Huckabee, and others will be high comedy, and it will bring those candidates collectively down. Look at what happened in Delaware. That airhead O’Donnell helped the Dems take a Senate seat they had no chance of winning this year. Get ready for the same thing on the grand stage for the Presidency. Palin’s fans will push her cause come hell or high water just because of this Sarah reality cult (think TV reality stars, Dancing With The Stars type fans – not a whole lot of substance, just knee-jerk emtional, we know what we like, and giving real thought to all of these issues is just too much work because The Bachelor is coming on now). We serious Pubs can only hope that some big financial opportunity will entice her away, because she will follow the money wherever it leads – we all know that, because she ditched the Alaska governor’s seat half way through it because she smelled big money. Maybe she will get an offer to star in a movie, or have her own prime time TV sitcom (those crazy Palins and their crazy antics in a family sitcom based in Alaska – Bill Cosby look out), or maybe Hefner will offer her $10 million to pose nude in Playboy. We can only hope. She couldn’t make that much dough if she was President for 20 years.

Palin quit her job as Mayor of Wasilla to be Governor of Alaska. She abandoned that job to run for VP. She quit that job after she forced a loss for McCain and found out she could make more money being a quasi-celebrity. Her ‘moral’ values include her seventeen year old daughter getting pregnant by her boyfriend, under her own nose, in her own house. She is as ignorant as most of her followers – who follow her because of her ignorance! She has no platform, no training, no background, and no education – you betcha! By by God, she can see Russia from her house, which obviously proves her diplomatic ability. Alaskans are rich from oil subsidies, not from her governance.

Last Man Standing,
You and others with your brain are the reason your group will never be taken seriously. To still insist on calling Obama a Muslim. And if he were, what is your point?
Why is it that you have to attack an individual and not what they stand for (policies)?
Does it make you feel good to post the comments you do?

“We must not allow this tragedy to stifle our constitutionally protected rights, including our Second Amendment rights. Beware of what’s coming. I really do believe that God has shed his grace on thee. We can’t blow it. We can’t allow an atrophy of the foundation that is America, that is so exceptional.”
-Sarah Palin

After studying the former half term governer who quit her post in order to do more important things like making tons of money for her family, as well as making smores for kate gosselins kids in the middle of the woods, I have come to the conclusion that Ms Palin is really just Joe McCarthy with a vagina….idiots used to listen to him and his americana b.s.and remember, he was just a closet queer, who ended up taking his own life,,,,now thats leadership,,,go sarah!!!!yay
