After telling Sarah Palin to ‘butt out’ — the rest of the tale

The St. Paul Pioneer Press has a piece today about the dangers encountered by Republicans who dare to criticize Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachman, whose tea party following served as a platform for her own personal response to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address.

The article includes two paragraphs that tell what happened to a particular Georgia congressman last August, in the hours after the Republican runoff for governor, after he agreed that Sarah Palin should “butt out” of local races:

Rep. Jack Kingston, R-Ga. — who has a long conservative voting record — said he learned the power of Palin’s following the hard way after suggesting she stay out of Georgia’s Republican gubernatorial primary on a radio show.

“There was a firestorm in the office for about 24 hours,” he said, with people “questioning my Republican conservative credentials” in phone calls. “To Sarah Palin’s credit, you have a national network of very energized fans.”

I prefer Sarah over Dolemite Hussein Soetoro. Sarah may misspeak, but she does not try to feed you sh*t and tell you it it’s good for you like the kenyan does. “we can add the sickest and poorest to the systema without raising costs”. Kiss my a**, obama

She SHOULD use a teleprompter – the Katie Couric interview was horrendous. And I witnessed her ignorance personally at an industry conference in las vegas where she spoke. the room was full of GOP supporters, business owners, and she flopped miserably. there were quiet gasps and chuckles in the room. Her comments were misinformed, her attempts at humor missed the mark, and her pithy one-liners were simple-minded and lame.

Our problems are far too complex for the simple-minded Palin.

I am really looking forward to the day all the male Sarah Palin supporters realize that they can defend her and they can vote for her, but they’re not ever going to have sex with her! Ain’t gonna happen, y’all! So give up your fantasies of her leaving First Dude and see if you can find a candidate who has an actual working brain!!

Palin has a cult following. I question the statement in the article that it is a “national network”. I would say it is a hardcore group of supporters in red states that have found a purpose in live. Their religious believes motivate them to support palin. They never see anything negative about palin’s words or actions. In their eyes palin is perfect and anyone that expresses the slightest criticism is called a “hater” “jealous” etc. Their dedicated method of voting kept bristol on DWTS past what should have been her elimination time.
Her loyal supporters have a list of comments and they probably spend endless hours going from site to site to reply to any criticism about their idol. You can’t engage them in dialog it appears posting anything beyond their repetitive cliches is beyond their capability.
Any assumption of volumes based on the number of calls or posting should be considered dubious.

hey Darwin….

“The bloggers here who defend SP, would also vote Rush Limbaugh for president. So, it goes with the territory. That’s why they’re in the minority. Thank God.”

November 2, 2010 – the largest GOP landslide in history. House of Reps, governors, and damn near the Senate. You may wanna rethink that majority/minority thing. And there are more conservatives on AJC’s blogs than it appears at first glance. We just get tired of fighting the same old fights, so we watch and vote while you blog your ass off….the incoherent liberal support is usually just too much to want to respond to….

And , since unemployment is rising(sorry, dropping off the end of 99 weeks doesn’t count as lowering the real rate) , inflation is rising(sorry, removing food and fuel from the number is a shell game..thats where the real bite is in peoples pockets), and obama has no clue (as evidenced in his first 24 months) how to deal with it, your side will be trashed again in 2 years.

And as for all the Sarah Palin haters out there? I dont think she can ever be elected to President. But what she CAN do, and IS doing, is rallying the hell out of conservatives and getting them out to vote. And that is what is scaring the national media to death. They (including C Tucker) cant ignore her and hope she will go away. She is already too much of a threat just by getting voters to the polls. Dont like what she stands for? sorry….she has too many people who believe as she does. So the only way to stop her is to attack her. And the simple fact is, for better or worse….it aint working.

If the Tea Party wants respect they should pick someone to give a response to the SOTU that understands and knows just a little bit of American history.Any thinking person who read or watched Michele Bachman’s response was taken back by her ignorance. If the followers of Bachman and Palin don’t understand that they are embarrassing themselves and their country then the rest of us are embarrassed for them.

The Tea Party will disappear within 2 years. Anyone notice that only CNN carried Tea Party response to State of the Union? FOX did not. And they have otherwise pulled back now that they got what they really wanted—-the huge tax breaks for Rupert Murdoch, the Koch brothers and other big beneficiaries of continuing Bush tax breaks. Why do you think they spent hundreds of millions on Tea Party—to let Joe the Plumber keep his Glock??

I find Sarah Palin a likable enough person but I wouldn’t want her as President. I don’t believe she is qualified. On the other hand, I don’t believe Obama is qualified either and his term so far has been one bumbling disaster after another. In a democratic republic (not a democracy) like we live in, anybody can reach the office of President if he/she can spend enough money and find enough people to vote for them. Sure beats having a king, queen, or dictator-for-life.

Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Beck, et al really are non-factors in national politics, motivating only their base. Most people don’t listen to them.

If the Republicans want to beat Obama in 2012, there is no way Palin will be the their candidate. The Democrats are not afraid of her, the Republicans are. Her own party doesn’t like her! She could cost them the election.

Personally, I hope she runs in 2012. I think we have only seen the tip of the iceberg when it comes to her stupidity. And people who continue to believe she is of relevance are only prolonging her 15 minutes of fame which should have been up a long time ago. I’m not a Palin hater. I just think she is out of her league.

Just compare Sarah Palin’s knowledge to the knowledge of Ron Paul. That tells you automatically that Sarah is not qualified to be president.

Also, regarding the person who said that Sarah Palin was a good governor — I dispute that claim. For one reason, an excellent human rights organization in Alaska that serves as a watchdog was very unhappy with her as a governor and even sued her.

Sally

Wow, every possible lie about the President has been presented except the birther one. And every possible myth about the great Sarah Plain is also here. Does no one think for themselves? The President, with zero help from Republicans, got more legislation passed in two years than any other President. His programs have created one million jobs, more than Bush did in 8 years. He has put the war spending back on the books, so of course it looks bad. It IS bad. It was bad in 2005, 06, 07 and 08, too but Bush hid the true costs to make himself look better. People have health care. Like it or not=, we are all Americans, and health care is not some evil force.
As far as Mrs. Palin, who cares what she thinks? She hires speech writers (she uses a teleprompter as often as the President, despite what her fans think) who give her idiotic things to say. She never bothers to check anything, so she ends up having to clarify what she meant, every time. Is that really who you want in the White House? Someone with a platform who isn’t smart enough to hire intelligent writers? She has the money, loads of it. She thinks that creating a stir is enough. I guess as a citizen, it’s plenty. As an adult running for POTUS, it is not nearly enough. She’s had 2 years to refine her act, and learn some history, but she has just gotten meaner and more divisive. She dislikes half of the country, and makes no effort to win us over. So who cares? She will not be President, thank God.

IMHO, too much is being made of Palin’s influence on the political scene. unfortunately, in the Nov 2010 election, too many voters stayed home – to their credit, Sarah’s supporters/teapartiers showed up in mass; therefore, it is assumed that the majority of voters support who/what Sarah supports. Not true. In a general election, the other 75% of voters will elect candidates who are very different from Sarah’s picks. Republicans who are trying to get thru a primary may be concerned about her influence, but candidates who make it to biggie (2012) general election will face a more educated, informed, and rational voting public, regardless of political bent. Sarah is devisive and promotes a devisive agenda and devisive candidtates. She’s a mean, hateful, racist, narcissistic, jealous uneducated, lazy, immature woman who so wants to be more important than the smart handsome Black man with the funny name who won an election that she, as pretty as she is, and an old cantankerous white man could not win. She and her fiollowers can’t get past that simple fact becuase it’s not the way the world, as they know and like it, should be. Change is hard. Biases and bigotry are had to admit and get past. I get all of that, but the country will never be/look like the good old days when only white men ruled pretty much everything and everybody.
