can nathan deal run our state? his personal and business is a total wreck. he put 2 million of his own money into one daughter’s failed business and was left with another 2.5 million of debt. now he is selling everything he ownes just to settle half the debt. the other daughters are asking how he could be so dumb and you want this man to run the state. this is only the tip of the iceburg. wake up georgia voters and pull your head out of your…………….the sand.

Galloway and the AJC had nothing to say about negative ads when only Barnes was doing it early on for months. Only when Deal shot back did the AJC and Galloway notice, and then started commenting.

Ralph. Cut the revisionist history. It is true Barnes has been doing negative ads, but it was well after the RGA had started spending their $5 million the day after the GOP runoff on attack ads. That allowed Deal the cover for you to now say that he only recently shot back.

Why do I get the feeling that Jack Freeman is playing with proven conservative tactic of lying about the date of an election. I doubt anyone can find where libs have used this tactic because their efforts have always been to get out the vote. We know the conservative benefactors have gotten their monies worth, because higher voter turnout normally means loses for conservatives.

If the wind was blowing the way of Pelosi/Reid/Oh-Blah-Blah, we would be treated to non-stop columns about the wonderful world of liberal democrats in the days leading up to the mid-terms.
And, on a related note, even I have to feel somewhat sorry for Oh-Blah-Blah, he has been rejected by Dems all over the country, and facing defeat, he jumps in front of the cameras and declares in all seriousness that he has big news to deliver about terrorism. Uh huh, somewhat a coincidence that all of this terroism emphasis occurs in the days leading up to what some predict is a historic rejection of his administration.

I like Roy’s arrow misses and cows ad. Were things really that bad under his reign? Our Founding Fathers had a way with words, but their actions revealed them as something less than perfect. They laid the ground work for the violent society we continue to be. What if the shot heard round the world had never been fired?

Barnes said upfront, that he would be more aggressive than he was in 2002, when Perdue painted him as king rat. I think that voters rejected Barnes mainly over the flag.

People that don’t want Roy are in general racists and tea party lunatic fringe. How could you pick Nathan over Roy? Rednecks are mad over the flag issue and associate Roy, an old-style democrat, with Obama, whom they view as a socialist and don’t like in general because he’s black. I’m a member of the SVC for the history and heritage, but the flag change was warranted because of what that symbol represented… plus, Barnes knows state politics and what it takes to run the state. Deal could drop-kick babies across the capitol lawn and still win as long as he has the R after his name. Whatever troubles he has as governor will be blamed on Obama and when Obama is gone, the argument will be, “Love it or leave it.” Slap a coat of red paint over the blue as the wood underneath continues to rot. Force them to clean up the system or stay in perpetual “Throw the bums out” mode. It’s your choice.

As has been said many times before, this election is a referendum on democrats in general and Obama’s policies specifically. This country has seen more than enough to know that the “change” he campaigned on was a transitioning of America to a European socialist system. The electorate doesn’t like or want that “change”. Nathan Deal will be elected as governor. Anyone running for office as a democrat gives, at least, tacit approval of Obama’s actions.
One would assume that you support Barnes. Your answer to the people who do not is to call them rednecks and racists. I submit that you are the one with the problem, not the Deal (Republican) supporters.

In the days of Cronkite, Huntley and Brinkley, it was not a problem, they were true journalist. Hey GreatATLGuy: Stick your racism right back up your butt from whence you puled it. I’m not voting for Roy Barnes, but I WOULD have (and actually did) vote for Thurmond Baker for Governor. I also voted for a still support our current President, Barak Obama. Still ain’t voting for Barnes. The ONLY thing that Nathan Steal has correct in his ad campaigns is that once WAS enough with Barnes. (Oh, and I fully support the flag change. It was adopted in 1956 (or there abouts) in direct defiance to federally mandated integration. There is no denying it was a racist symbol.)
I’m not voting for that thief Deal either. like that stupid video Keith put up, I’m voting for Monds because he’s NOT Nathan Steal or King Roy.

The Jefferson-Adams race may have been uncivil and impolite but it’s not unique. The things that were said about Andrew Jackson and his wife were some of the most vile imaginable. But those were different times. General Jackson might challenge you to a duel and shoot you through your gizzard. I’m tired of hearing Nice Nathan’s lies and King Roy’s lies. So I’m voting for John Monds. Of course Monds has no chance so in the runoff I’ll be voting for Nice Nathan because at least he’s a different crook. Nice Nathan reminds me of every undertaker I have know with that engaging smile and friendly demeanor. King Roy reminds me of every car salesman I have known. Can’t you just hear him saying that this 1977 Ford Pinto with 850k miles was driven only by a little old lady to and from church at speeds less than 15 mph and is a real steal at $ 15k. Georgians ….well for that matter a vast majority of the US voting populace have a memory the size of a walnut and nuts they can be. Back in Roy Barnes last term, he really ticked off a vast sector of the populace and some really close friends by leading the charge to outlaw coin-o-matic gambling machines in convenience stores all over the state. His charge was successful and a particular close friend of Barnes had been monetarily successful in the coin-o-matic gambling business. She was no longer a close friend of Barnes and vowed to have him defeated in his bid for re-election. She poured a vast amount of money into the Perdue advertising machine and it paid off.
Now this was only part of the recipe to remove Roy from office back then. We have to add in the teacher’s union also. I look at fact based economic data from back then and Georgia was doing OK. I can’t figure out where Deal gets this “Last in Jobs in the Nation” claim. Schools…..yeah were lousy, but they’ve been lousy since the 1970’s. We Georgians evidently don’t feel gettin’ edgeahmoocated is all that important. Barnes tried to move the state ahead in this category, and he ticked off the teacher’s union.
It must be this edgeahmoocation process that has evidently enlightened Georgia voters into wanting Deal as governor. How else would you elect a person who resigned from another job to stop an investigation into his conduct. (They went on with the investigation anyway and issued a report) How else would you elect a person that after pointing out discrepancies he would admit he forgot to include in his publicly issued financial reports. (Three times)
I can go on, but you’ve all read it in this newspaper (It’s also on the Congressional Record), but evidently because of party unity and power don’t give a damn and want to perpetuate the laughable status that Georgia enjoys around the nation. Deal is a wheel whose personal life is a disaster at this moment and I’ll be the first to say I feel for him and his family, but business is business.
If we were in the greatest of economic times, then Georgia voters could stick any self absorbed politician into the spot and operate the state on cruise control. This is not the case. This is a very serious time and it calls for a very serious choice.
Nathan Deal is not that choice.

Then there’s the issue of using a lone federal judge to thwart the will of the majority of the electorate in things such as gay marriage.
Or having the EPA circumvent Congress by regulating carbon dioxide emissions.
Or making electricity rates “necessarily skyrocket” with Cap and Tax legislation.
Hmmm, are you sure that “Dems believe that ALL people should have fundamental rights protected by government”?

If you agree neither Repubs or Dems in GA are worth a damn, then split the govt. Don’t give either party all of the power. Divide the power. It’s the only way to keep them honest.
A vote for Deal will give the Repub. legislature a rubber stamp. Vote accountability. Vote Barnes to be a check to the Repub. legislature — and the Repubs. will provide a check to Barnes in return.

Dear RGB — you don’t have to like certain laws or amendments but if they are the laws of the land made by lawmakers that the people vote in, you gotta live and abide by them… I’m sure you don’t like Rowe v. Wade, but it is the law of the land and there’s nothing you can do about it except vote for those you believe might be able to get it overturned. And fyi, not all Dems oppose the second amendment. And if you need clarification on the first amendment you might ask Christine O to explain it more fully to you. I’m going to type this slowly so that you can understand it.
No rational person would expect Obama to “fix past messes in 22 months”, however the people did NOT elect him to transform this country into a socialist nation. I also have a problem with the government defining “fundamental rights”. The government does not have the authority to determine fundamental rights: the rights that we have as individuals are enumerated in the Bill of Rights subject only to the interpretation of the Court. There has been a tendency to call entitlement programs “rights” and this is not true. Entitlements exist only as long as the elctorate will permit. Health care is not a “right” and the government can not force people to buy it.
To run as a democrat is to espouse what the democrat party endorses. The democrat party has adopted a liberal/progressive posture. If you agree with that posture and you thought King Roy did a good job before when he was governor, vote for him. There are too many of us who remember his last time at bat and too many of us who disagree with the democrats’ liberal/progressive platform to allow Barnes a curtain call.

Thanks for the opinion, RGB….. but our president, who was elected by the majority, is not a socialist, you need to google what that means exactly… and you’re wrong about entitlements being associated with rights… Social Security and Medicare are entitlements AND rights since we paid for them, as are many other government programs, education being another, since it is paid for with our tax dollars. And if these programs are changed or amended by the people who are voted into office by the majority there is nothing you (or I) can do about it if we don’t like it except VOTE or run for office ourselves. And PS, basic health care should be a fundamental right of every legal citizen of the U.S. who pays taxes.

My poit with the republic vs democracy is that the Consitution is the primary rule of law. The elected officials are limited by it. One question; When the right was in charge, did you have the same viewpoint that they could do whatever they wanted? I did not then and do not now.
Fascist does not mean extreme right. It is a type of govenment that he means of production is privately owned but controlled by the government. Banks and auto companies are examples today.

Rich, we could argue fascism, democracy, republic, law and policy all day…. I’m sticking by the president who was elected by the people and will stick by the governor who is elected by the people, no matter who it is, since the majority will speak. I mostly didn’t agree with Bush (and btw anyone with a Harvard MBA should be able to pronounce nuclear and other easy words correctly), but I didn’t disagree with all his policies either, unlike like most repubs who don’t agree with Obama’s policies simply because Obama is a democrat and they hate him for that. Please explain what President Obama has done that he did not run on, other than bipartisanship since the republican leaders of the minority have basically stated that they are against anything he was elected to do but they are willing to talk tax cuts and defense funding.
Obamacare? I believe that is the Frankenstein law created when they let the gang if six in the senate neuter the house bill, which the three republican butchers gang members did not support after they included their poison pills.
Financial regulation? I believe the Tea Party was started after a rant about Wall Street gaming the system and declaring that they were too big to fail so bail us out [during the Republican administration] or else we will create the next depression. Please remember that it came before the stimulus, which those honorable republicans voted against while creating a new earmark system of letter writing for my local pet projects.
Your limiting of rights to the original ten would leave slavery in tack and deny the right to vote to blacks, women, people between 18 and 21 [in that order], or direct election of Senators. Surely you would allow those constitutional amendments that have passed the legislature and have been ratified by the states wouldn’t you?
