The Kentucky video: Middle-aged men out of control

You may have already seen this disturbing video– a clip of a young woman protestor from Moveon.org being stomped on at a Rand Paul rally in Kentucky.

Any cop will tell you that crowd violence is usually the work of young males brimming with testosterone. But the attackers in this mini-riot are clearly middle-aged men. Which is somehow more disturbing:

A follow-up from the Lexington Herald-Leader:

A supporter of Republican U.S. Senate nominee Rand Paul is being served with a criminal summons after he was seen on video stepping on a liberal activist’s head at a rally Monday night, according to Lexington police.

Tim Profitt, a volunteer with Paul’s campaign, told the Herald-Leader he was concerned the woman was trying to attack Paul and acted only to subdue her.

“The way she went after him it looked like something bad was getting ready to happen,” said Profitt, 53, of Bourbon County.

He said he put his foot on her shoulder, not her head. “I said, ‘Now you stay down,’ and called for police. The only thing we were trying to do was subdue her.”

He criticized police for not taking action after other supporters warned authorities about the activist.

Profitt will be ordered to appear before a Fayette County District Court Judge, police said.

Paul has cut ties with Profitt. Paul had been criticized earlier in the day for not denouncing the attack strongly enough, but a later statement said Paul is “extremely disappointed in, and condemns” the actions of what it called a supporter.

“The Paul campaign has disassociated itself from the volunteer who took part in this incident, and once again urges all activists — on both sides — to remember that their political passions should never manifest themselves in physical altercations of any kind,” the statement said.

The incident happened as Paul arrived at the Kentucky Educational Television studio on Cooper Drive in Lexington for a debate with Attorney General Jack Conway, his Democratic opponent.

Lauren Lizabeth Valle, 23, an activist with MoveOn.org, tried to get close to Paul to give him a fake award portraying him as a tool of big business, as the group has done elsewhere.

However, at least two men in the crowd grabbed her and pushed her down. Profitt put his foot on her shoulder and shoved down forcefully on her neck and head.

Middle-aged white men raging out of control, throwing away their integrity and decency because they think they’re in the “right?” It’s not the first time we’ve seen this, and it won’t be the last.

If they were republican candidates in GA, we would elect them for office just because of the R beside their name regardless of their actions.

We need to vote for ethical conservative candidates like Carol Porter!

I know…nowhere near as fun as when college-aged co-eds do it! These guys seriously need to leave the “gone-wild” stuff to “Girls-Gone-Wild”
The libs at moveon.org set these guys up and they took the bait and walked right into the media trap. Figures. Tea Partiers don’t have publicists and strategists. Easy prey…

We could, but unethical, corrupt, not-really conservative candidates like Casey Cagle are just so much more fun (did you see how Cagle used to push former House Speaker Glenn Richardson’s buttons and goad him into those frequent emotional blow-ups?) and they tell us what we want to hear. Plus, Cagle has tons more money (knows ALL of the RIGHT people in North Georgian DEVELOPERS) so that he can bombard us with the same message over-and-over again as he brainwashes us true conservatives and conservative-wannabes to vote against that, that, well, you know…that FEMALE DEMOCRAT from South Georgia.

Those poor moveon.org folks. They are such peaceful, middle of the road radical socialists – why would anyone be annoyed with them?

It’s good that the AJC goes out of its way to find and incident where they can defend them. (NOT!)

Mr. Bring Back Babe Alley,

If the scuffle was a “setup” as you claim, then why did the Rand Paul volunteer involved apologize, and why did Rand Paul disassociate himself with the particular volunteer? Have you checked the news in the past hour? He clearly went beyond pulling his shirt up to flash the crowd, so I don’t get your “girls gone wild” analogy, although given your blog handle, it’s not difficult to assume where your mind hovers.

“Tea Partiers don’t have publicists and strategists.” HAHAHAHAHAHA! Knee slapper, that one.

HELLOOOOOOO!!!!! It was a set-up to make Rand Paul and the Tea Partiers look bad in a heated election. The moveon.org people that set this up that these guys would get physical so that they could take a camera out, capture the violence and then beam it out all over the nation to try and make Raul Paul and the Tea Party look like would resort to violence before hearing opposing points-of-view.

“Tea Partiers don’t have publicists and strategists.” HAHAHAHAHAHA! Knee slapper, that one.

Established politicians who have aligned themselves with the Tea Party, like Sarah Palin and Jim DeMint may have enough more than enough funds for publicists and strategists, but these poor guys in the hills of Kentucky clearly don’t. If they did, they wouldn’t have done what they did last night, especially with the cameras and lights around. The moveon.org people knew that this would most certainly get on television and the “internets”

And with a name like GaBlue, it’s not difficult to assume where YOUR mind hovers…somewhere on the FAR, FAR, FAR LEFT, Inside The Perimeter packed into a neighborhood of Northeastern-style rowhouse townhomes, sipping on lattes, while walking a poodle or poodles and driving a Voltzwagon Bug (or Jetta) and professing how much you love to ride MARTA when in reality you wouldn’t touch MARTA with a 1,000 foot pole, but you would willing force taxpayers throughout the rest of the state to pay for that continuing boondoogle and train to nowhere.

You’re a funny guy. Not one thing you assumed about me is even close, except for my opinion that improving transportation in metro Atlanta would result in more jobs and more revenue statewide. I’m a moderate, suburban homeowner, brew my own coffee, protect my home with real dogs and a gun, drive an SUV (moms kinda have to), and absolutely LOVE riding MARTA into town or to the airport. This MoveOn.org woman was wearing a disguise and pushing her way toward Rand Paul to “give” him something. The “something” could have been harmless or deadly, so those supporting Paul did the right thing and stopped her. Also, look closely at that video again. The man put his foot on her shoulder – not her head.

The guy that wrestled the young woman to the ground was wearing a “Don’t Tread on Me” button. She was unarmed, carrying a sign, per her first ammendment rights. She was in costume, dressed as a Republican corporate executive, for a satire film project with MoveOn. She simply wanted to get close to Mr. Paul so he would see the sign, and perhaps be close enough to have a picture taken with him. At no time did she threaten Mr. Paul, but the Don’t Tread On Me guys had noooooo problem “taking her out” like the macho big men they are. Does it matter what part was stepped on? The woman was grabbed, shoved to the ground, had her wig yanked off, and stepped on. FOR EXERCISING HER FIRST AMMENDMENT RIGHTS.

Who loves the Constitution? Not Rand Paul supporters, that’s for sure!

@Bring back “Babe Alley” at the Capitol!

“Tea Partiers don’t have publicists and strategists. Easy prey…” and you’re right! The far left liberal secular progressive Socialist media has all the time in the world to set up patriotic folk like the Honorable Rand Paul’s supporters.

If any of you libs look closely enough at that video, you will see clearly that this homosexual Communist woman violated the law. The Tea Party Patriot was only doing his job as he engaged in a citizen arrest. It’s obvious that this fine man knew what he was doing.

I pray that this judge completely lets this man off. HE DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG!

But of course Communist Keith Olbermann, Far-Left Socialist Chris Matthews, Homosexual America-Hater Rachael Maddow and their cronies in the far left-wing media will keep showing this video to spin it their way which is to prosecute this fine patriot.

WE THE PEOPLE should set up a defense fund for this fine American who is protecting our basic freedoms by supporting the Honorable Rand Paul, a man of integrity and patriotism.

Amen,
Bill

Did we wake up in North Korea this morning? Who cares who she works for or what she was wearing? Americans have a right to show up in public and carry a sign. Bill Orvis White can’t quite figure out how to reconcile his claim to “love” Jesus with his unabashed need to hate anyone who disagrees with him. Interesting spin on Christianity. To Bill Orvis White, good Christians are those who hate anyone who is different and who does not fit in. Hey, Bill would you do what your Creator did and put hands on and heal a leper? I don’t think you could or would.

Bill Orvis White

@ROBOCOP

The Lord Almighty, Sweet Baby Jesus and The Ten Commandments all set a code to live by which is a right and wrong.

Yes, somehow you far left liberals wrongly accuse rugged God-fearing individualists like us as hatemongers who inspire folks to bully. Wrong. Wrong-pure and simple. God-fearing folk who adhere to these codes along with the Constitution of the United States say that we hate the sin and love the sinner. God-fearing folk like me are not afraid of today’s wrong PC Culture. We make it known what we feel and are not ashamed of it.

To you Robocop, good Christians are those who abide by the original set of codes that we practice in church every Sunday. We believe in God, faith, family, free markets – the components that made this once-free nation strong.

“Folk” like Barack Hussein Obama have weakened this once-free nation by shoving secular values down our throats. On November 2, WE THE PEOPLE will be rejecting this Socialist-Democrat agenda. It will be “his” ultimate demise – hopefully leading to impeachment/removal. If not that, then “his” defeat in 2012.

@Don’t give up the First
The law she broke was unlawful conduct. Far-left seculars like this “woman” typically cross the line thus creating chaos. It looks to me like the Paul supporter was doing his job as an American by stopping what would have become a chaotic situation.

It’s funny how the mainstream media (MSM) says that WE THE PEOPLE in the Tea and Republican parties are intolerant bullies. WE believe that if all of American strictly adhered to the Judeo-Christian ethic and the original constructs of the Constitution of the United States, this would be a strong and free nation again.

Amen,
Bill

Rand’s supporters follow the same pattern of civil disobedience inspired by Ron Paul supporters in ‘08. They were so rabid about THEIR Revolution and THEIR right to get THEIR message out about THEIR candidate that it superceded all other citizens rights to enjoy the public space without their tacky stenciled bedsheets all over public structures. They also threatened to use their second amendment rights to protect their revolution’s illegal campaign banners. It comes from the top folks, no way around it! The nuts never fall far from the tree.

Nothing justifies this type of behavior. Had she gotten near to or into Rand Paul’s face, then it would have been a matter for the police or other security professionals to attend to – not a supporter. Was it a provocation or a set up of some kind. It doesn’t look like it, even though moveon.org was involved, one of the sleaziest political organiziations, if not the sleaziest, in America. No lie, subterfuge, set up, trick, or distortion of truth is beneath them. As to the actual violence. It was clearly inappropriate and out of order and it has no place whatsoever in political discourse. But, if you really want to get exercised about some very serious violence at political events and appearances, then scope out some videos of AFCSME or numerous other labor union thugs who act as enforcers for the Dems at their events and rallies. Then you will understand what political violence really is. No broken bones, spattered blood, or hospital visits necessary in this case?? — then this was amateur hour. Oh? You’ve never seen anything like that or heard about it in the national media or seen it turned into a national news story scandal over night? What a surprise!
