Saxby Chambliss says gay slur originated with his office

My AJC colleague Bob Keefe in Washington has this:

U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss’ office has determined it was indeed the source of a highly publicized homosexual-bashing slur on an Internet site.

But in a statement, Chambliss’ office said it has not discovered exactly who was behind the slur, and has turned the matter over to the Senate Sergeant At Arms.

“The (Sergeant at Arms) has worked side by side with our personnel to determine whether the comment in question emanated from our office. That appears to be the case,” an unsigned statement from Chambliss’ press office read.

“There has not been a determination as to who posted the comment,” the statement read. “That part of the review is ongoing, and is now in the hands of the Senate Sergeant at Arms.”

Spokeswomen for Chambliss did not return a reporters phone calls or emails seeking more details.

Tuesday, a poster identifying himself as “Jimmy” wrote “All (gays) must die” on Joe.My.God., a blog dedicated to gay and lesbian issues – just as Republican Chambliss and other senators were debating a Democratic proposal to repeal the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy. The proposal failed.

The posting was traced back to an Internet Protcol address matching Chambliss’ office, but it’s unclear whether it was one of his offices in Georgia or in Washington.

Are Senate staffers supposed to be trolling random blogs on government time, using government resources? And leaving commentary wherever they visit? (Leaving aside the “quality” of the commentary in this case?)

“Threats?” It seems to me that the blogger simply stated what God has already promised. On the same token, if Christian America doesn’t carry out that order, we will pay the price. Yet “we” allow them to continue walking hand in hand and grabbing each other’s butts in public.

Classy, JJ. The world needs fewer people who think “God” wants them to exterminate this or that group. What unbelievable arrogance. You and the Taliban fanatics are peas in a pod.

Ah, the self loathing homo. I used to be one (cept I was like 19). So ready to show everyone how much I hated fags. I would throw another gay under the bus so quick! The closet case that wrote the hate probably showed the comment to all the hot guys in the office he secretly wants to blow. What is really disgusting are these somewhat cultured politicians (W.Bush) who hang with the gays but pander to the inbred whites for votes… but, hey, that’s politics… you can’t take it too seriously.

You tell ‘em, Saxby! Get rid of ‘em all!

After you settle this nonsense maybe the two of us can go cruising for hot boy interns.

I’m not sure if you’re gay or not but Saxby sure sounds like an old queen to me!

Kisses.

So much for the stereotype of Georgia being filled with ignorant, uneducated hillbilly inbreds being false.

The American Taliban is out in full force here. Unlike the other Taliban, Georgia’s have no teeth and were conceived on a hayride from two cousins f-ing. Both wipe their a-s.s with their hand.

Did Atlanta just drop out of the sky into the middle of the state?

What an embarrassment.

Maybe it is hard to pinpoint because they all look alike while wearing those pointed dunce hats and masks. My Grandma said they could tell who they are by looking at their shoes. They always thought no one would recognize them when they had their robes on. No one told them they needed to change their shoes also. It’s probably one of those 2 old idiots in the tv ad.

To each and every post spewing hate and no tolerance for folks that don’t look like you and don’t live the same way they do. Romans 3:23 – “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” When you’re pointing the finger at someone else–three fingers are pointing back at you. Judge ye not.

Hey JJ Harper…if you’ll read all of Leviticus you’ll find at least half a dozen things that would require m, or me and my neighbors, to ‘off’ your butt, along with your family. So I’d be careful what you decide to focus on – some of us might be absolutely committed to ‘putting to death’ somebody that wears two different fabrics at the same time…or eats shrimp…or doesn’t own slaves from the right region…or, well you get it.

By the way, wonder how all those Log Cabiners feel about voting for that ‘Head Homophobe’ Chambliss?

Where is Saxby or his aide’s outrage when according to several studies of the US military funded by the Department of Veteran Affairs, reflect that 30% of military women are raped while serving, 71% are sexually assaulted, and 90% are sexually harassed. While 13,000 gay military personnel have been kicked out of the military since DADT was enacted, darn near that many military women are violated by hetro-pervert males annually.

Why is this individual on an homosexual website? Was the individual doing this during working hours? It seems to me that this person may be living two separate lifestyles. Come on out of the closet, dude.

Jane Kidd: Petty Democrat

September 23rd, 2010
7:58 am

A separate AJC story said, in part: Democrats seized on the situation.

“No American should be subjected to the threats of violence from the staff of a United States senator,” Democratic Party of Georgia Chair Jane Kidd said in a statement.

She criticized Chambliss’ office for not moving more quickly on identifying and disciplining whoever wrote the slur.
——–
But Chambliss admitted the slur came from his office and said steps were being taken to identify the individual. Ms. Kidd’s words reflect poorly on her since Chambliss appears to being doing all possible: admitting the slur’s origination and identifying the culprit.

Are Republicans now supposed to issue a press release criticizing Roy Barnes for holding fundraisers with alleged sexual predators? I hope not since neither one of these actions would solve any problem facing Georgians.

I expect the individual responsible for the slur will be identified and fired in a short period of time. And that should be the end of it.

Petty Democrats issuing petty press releases shows how small these people are.

The insanity of politically correct speech is proven. We’re concerned with a slur while Comedy Central is airing Chappelle reruns with frequent un-bleeped uses of the worst slurs (including the one that got Dr. Laura censured). A large segment of society apparently wants racial, gender, etc. division to continue. Ad nauseum over-analysis of these non-news stories leaves no other reasonable conclusion.

Do people in general not have enough real problems without creating more discord? Or, is it that we really like to fight and will come up with a reason when none exists? Or is there such a financial bonus to faux victim mentality under our warped politics of entitlement that it cannot die? Whatever happened to a “sticks and stone”…”but names will never hurt me” attitude? Police crimes of physical harm and punish the doers. Banish the thought police and let’s get on with important things in our lives.

A “gay slur” is anything said by anyone that can be determined in the minds of homosexual as critical. Further, a “homophobe” is anyone who does not accept and praise homosexuals.

Pillsbury

Homophobia is hardly limited to within the borders of Georgia. One staffer speaking for ten million people? Please. Hate and stupidity exist everywhere. If Chambliss were smart, he’d denounce the statements and affirm the right of gay Americans to exist. Chambliss, however, won’t do that because he doesn’t want to offend his base.

Why doesn’t the person who posted the remark step up to the microphone and say “I did it.” That would show just how much of a man he is, assuming it was a man.

Of course Chambliss, instead of condeming the act, turns to it all over to someone else. What if they discover than Chambliss himself made the post?

Unbelievable… in this day and time. This issue could have been resolved yesterday. Saxby knows who did this. FIRE THE MORON! @voters – think twice before voting for Mr. Chambliss! He obviously cultivated this environment. We need to move forward and leave this kind of ignorant hatred behind us!

I’m sort of hoping it came directly from Senator Chambliss himself so that we can ask him to explain why he is calling for genocide of a group of people. Considering that he’ll probably waffle on that, it will show true conservative values, since he considers himself a true conservative. Those values? Anything that isn’t White, heterosexist, Anglo-Saxon Protestant and male is to be destroyed and buried in the ground where it will never see the light of day again.

If some one like Chambliss would trash and question the patriotism of Max Cleland, a veteran who lost two legs and a right arm, defending this country, inorder to win a Senate seat, then you shouldn’t be surprised him saying something hateful like that. Oh, by the way, Chambliss got four to five deferments to keep from serving in Vietnam, to keep his arms and legs intact, but had the gall to attack my fellow vet Max Cleland. But Chambliss isn’t the worst, it’s the low-lifes of Georgia, who voted for him knowing what he did to a wounded vet.

Your post says it all, EDDIE. I stopped listening to those in this state who say they’re Christians, but vote for politicians who engage in dirty tactics, tell lies constantly, and are first class hypocrites. That they voted for Chambliss after knowing he had unfairly smeared Senator Cleland, tells me that their actions don’t match their words. The Bible requires that Christians seek justice in all things.

I am pretty sure that it would be easy to tell which desk this came from and who was on at the time. If memory serves me the IP addresses are static i.e. set for each computer. And in the offices that I have worked in, only one person used a computer.
