Not really. But the primary has been a wearying affair, and I’ve earned some time off. Will be back if something big breaks. Otherwise, back in a few.
For instant updates, follow me on Twitter, or connect with me on Facebook.

You’ve done a great job, Jim. Enjoy the time off.
August 12th, 201012:34 pm
Enjoy your time off, sir!
August 12th, 20103:50 pm
I’m a Jim Junky…what will I do?
August 12th, 20106:33 pm
If I had to follow the Republican Primaries, I would not only be weary and beat but my IQ would be at 12 after listening to 1/2 Governor Sara Palin endorse another Candiate

What IF Deal has other ethics issues brought to light? YOU PEOPLE are about to get another
whipping from King Royal Barnes, and YOU PEOPLE will deserve the misery once more.
August 13th, 201010:06 am
I wonder if Nathan “Bad” Deal will change parties again after being elected? I’m sure the party of Benedict Arnold and Zell Miller will gladly take a person like him.
Billy Joe Poteet
August 13th, 201010:40 am
I have decided to support Deal with enthudiasm! My transformation from merely voting for Mr. Deal to enthusiastically supporting him was brought about by Obama’s press secretary’s comments concerning Mr. Deal. Just as some Deal supporters and democrats questioned Ms. Palin’s appearance on behalf of Ms. Handel, I question Obama (through his press secretary) involving himself in Georgia’s gubernatorial race on behalf of Mr. Barnes. In other words, if Obama’s for it, I’m against it!
August 13th, 201011:32 am
God has ordained Nathan Deal as our saviour from the blight that is the Obamanation and his ungodly socialism.
If you vote for Barnes, you are voting against God.
Do you really want to face an ETERNITY IN HELL for that man?
VOTE DEAL AND MAKE GOD HAPPY.
And also, God forgives us of most things BUT NOT THIS.

August 13th, 201011:49 am
Billy Joe wrote, “In other words, if Obama’s for it, I’m against it!”
If Obama found the cure for cancer tomorrow, you and you pals would be against it. We get it, Billy Joe.
August 13th, 201012:38 pm
Oh please, Billy Joe is just being a drama queen. Everyone knows people like him from mostly rural areas of Georgia vote for three things. They will vote for the candidate that….
3. Displays the most homophobic views.
2. Comes up with the most bizarre anti abortion laws.
1. Promises to steal the most tax dollars from metro Atlanta, redirecting them to rural areas to fulfill their welfare based entitlement culture.
(Honorable mention: Candidate must hate metro-Atlanta.)
August 13th, 201012:51 pm
When it comes right down to it ethics does not matter. Nathan Deal won his election, both Maxine Waters and Charles Rangel will be re-elected.
Oh, and Georgia will never strengthen their ethics laws.
All Crooks & Liars

How can you tell when a politician is lying? Their lips are moving.
Oh yeah, almost forgot . . . Danny X – you forgot another honorable mention: A gun in every hand.
August 13th, 20101:27 pm
Thank you for keeping us informed down here in South Georgia. You deserve some time off.
Keep up the good work !
August 13th, 20101:28 pm
Your right, I’m male, and from the country side. I beleive in getting ahead by hard work, not socialism. Marriage is between a man and a woman. I own several guns. Killing the un-born for convienence sake is wrong. And if the Obomination is for it, I’m against it.
AND the scarriest thing is…I’M NOT ALONE… We’ll see ya in NOVEMBER…
August 13th, 20101:43 pm
Southern Gentry writes, “And if the Obomination is for it, I’m against it.”
As I said above, you’d be against the cure for cancer if Obama came up with it.
August 13th, 20101:48 pm
Where is AquaGirl? Did she drown?
1,250 Deal votes would have made a world of difference for your girl.
I have it on good authority that a certain website received a few thousand visits over the last several weeks.
I take a lot of satisfaction in that.
August 13th, 20101:56 pm
Having referred to President Obama as “the muslim in the White House, “Billy Joe” reveals himself as a narrow-minded bigot. First, Obama says he isn’t Muslim. Second, even if he were, then you hate him for religious orientation. That’s what makes Poteet a bigot. And, this foolish devotion to partisan politics is what makes he/she/it narrow-minded. How about voting for the person and not the party? Last week Deal was a “corrupt relic.” Now, he’s the noble standard-bearer of the GOP. If any of your Republican heroes, such as Palin, are criticized you scream about drinking lib-tard Kool aid and being “indoctrinated.” But, it seems like to swill some moonshine yourself — just from a different pitcher.
August 13th, 20102:26 pm
I do not listen to Obama, I watch what he does. He is a muslim. I learned everything I need to know about muslims on 9/11. Obama used the words “hope” and “change” as he campaigned in the “57 states”, and too many stupid, young whites bought into it. He didn’t have to sell his crap to blacks because he is (1) black and (2) a democrat. It is ironic to me that now the unemployment rate affects those in the 18 – 24 age group the most. Wonder how that “hope” and “change” is working out for them? Before you say the magic excuse “Bush did it”, I’d like to inform you that 76% of Americans now say that Obama must bear responsibility now while only 16% still say that Bush is now responsible.
I am conservative, I own many guns. I hate Marxist/socialists with every fiber of my being..
The biggest racists and bigots I know are black.
BTW, if you don’t think Obama is a muslim, I’ve got some ocen-front property in DeKalb County I’d like to sell you – that is, if you survive the black crime there to live long enough to see it.
Again, Judging from the bovine excretement being spread by the current administration, I would believe the cure for cancer was just another path for false hope! The CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN resulted in SITTING AND WAITING for something to happen! I got a BIG BAG OF NOTHIN’ in office, and it’s tore… The only change I’ve seen, is from my pocket down a big hole of empty promise. OBOMINATION — KEEP YOUR DAMN CHANGE !!! TICK-TOCK…. November is a comin’
August 13th, 20102:43 pm
“I hate Marxist/socialists with every fiber of my being.”
Except when socialist policies benefit you and those around you. Republican candidate for governor Nathan Deal voted for a whooping 100 billion dollar farm subsidy when he was in the House! Metro Atlanta ships 35% of its tax dollars to rural areas. You folks to the south gobble up metro Atlanta tax dollars. You have claimed a huge entitlement. Its become one big welfare program. You are addicted to metro Atlanta tax dollars, its like crack to you people.
Lol. You love socialism Billy Joe!
August 13th, 20102:49 pm
What a fool you are, Billy Joe. Just because Beck, Limbaugh, or Hannity says something doesn’t mean it is true. Obama is a Muslim, okay. I thought he was a disciple of Jeremiah Wright, a pastor of the Church of Christ. And wait, why is Obama the Muslim terrorist appointing all those powerful Jews to his cabinet? Why has America been attacked by Muslims only on GWB’s watch and zero times on Obama’s watch? I thought he was a Mooslim terrorist.
In reading the asinine rantings of you and people like you, my immediuate impulse is just to burst out laughing, but then I remember that you have the capacity to breed. Then I get scared.
Just stop it. Your view of the world in no way resembles reality.
A Fed-up former “Republican”
August 13th, 20103:03 pm
It’s like Billy Joe went down the list and recited every “conservative” talking point cliche that there is.
1. “Wonder how that change is working out for them.” Check.
2. “The biggest racists I know are black” and then the obligatory and ironic reference to inner city black violence at the end of the post. Check.
3. “Statistics” being cited that are completely non-applicable to the point that is being attempted to be made. Check.
4. “I own guns. I hate Marxists/Socialists.” Check.
5. “Obama is a Muslim, and if you don’t believe me you’re stupid”, without offering any proof for his assertion. Check.
Do you have any thoughts of your own, or do you and those that are “like-minded” get together every Monday morning and memorize what the story is going to be for that week?
August 13th, 20103:08 pm
Billy Joe, have you ever attended a public school, sent kids to a public school, sent a letter in the US Mail, rode the swings at a public park, drank from a public water fountain, checked out books from a public library (that I seriously doubt), or cheered for a college football team? Then you, my friend, are a raging socialist.
August 13th, 20103:14 pm
And by the way, Billy Joe, the change is working out great for me. I now have a job that provides health insurance, I have had three raises and one promotion in the last 18 months (and have doubled my anuual income), and I am rapidly paying my way out of the debt I incurred during 2004-2007.
Stop making excuses and blaming your troubles on the President. I thought you were a conservative.
August 13th, 20103:22 pm
” but then I remember that you have the capacity to breed.”
Yep, capacity to breed – and there are many more like me. Our numbers are growing day by day. The scary thing is that not only are we growing larger in numbers we are becoming increasingly angry about the damage being done to this country.
Yes, we have heard Jeremiah Wright preach his hatred of whites. We have heard him say, “G_d damn America”. We listened – and we heard. We paid very careful attention.
I have a prediction for you. Real change is coming. In fact, it’s on its way now.
The clock is ticking and an election will come in November – and yet another one will come in November, 2012.
Beyond The Rhetoric
August 13th, 20103:30 pm
Jim Galloway, good job reporting on both sides… Karen Handel, thank you for a quick decision to concede, you’ve shed a new light on yourself, in a very positive way… To all those that read my lengthy comments, my purpose was to expose the facts “beyond the rhetoric”. I am grateful for your attention and look forward to the General Election.
“Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.” from Aldous Huxley, ‘Proper Studies’, 1927.
By the way, Rasmussen Reports reveals, in a Poll taken Wednesday, that Deal is ahead of Barnes 51% to 42% respectively. http://www.rasmussenreports.com/
August 13th, 20103:34 pm
Cut the cliches. Let’s hear some original thoughts. You heard Christian Pastor Jeremiah Wright preach his hatred of whites? Well I heard YOU preaching your hatred of blacks. And I thought Obama was a Muslim. Care to explain why he has been in attendance at a Church of Christ church for 20+ years?
Do you think God would approve of America’s hundreds of years of slavery, segregation, hunger, and inequality? Would god damn that, or would god bless that?
When you can bring yourself to answer these sorts of questions, then you will have a respectable viewpoint.
ANd feel free to respond to any of my other posts. I would love to hear what the answers will be.

August 13th, 20105:03 pm
You aren’t showing me anything I haven’t seen. Every other person just like you posts the same link when challenged to show proof that Obama is a Muslim. Pardon me if a collection of stringed together quotes taken out of context along with a bunch of apocalyptic images to add the fear factor isn’t enough to make me believe the President of the United States is a secret Muslim who wants to kill us all and implement Islam as the national religion. In actuality, I am honest about the fact that most likely, Obama is probably not religious at all, but is attempting to reach out to the more moderate element of the Middle East and prove to them that America is not against Islam, instead we are against terror and oppression. But you raise a good point, if people in our own country are too asinine to make the distinction between terror and Islam as a religion (i.e., you), then how can we expect the Middle Easterners to, as well? I guess that is the President’s job. At least he is trying.
None of the kind-natured comments he makes about Islam is false. He is right; this isn’t a Christian nation. If it were, the Constitution would grant us all the “freedom to be christian” instead of the freedom of religion. We are one nation under God, not one nation under Jesus. And further, your attempts to classify any and all Muslims as violent terrorists proves that you are simply ignorant and just don’t know any better. I am assuming you don’t get to town much. Until you can come to grips with these truths, you will continue to just whistle in the wind.
Can you make any sense of why a devout Muslim (or even a Muslim sympathizer) would appoint a Jew to be his Chief of Staff in his administration?
Can you make any sense as to why he has been a member of the Church of Christ for 20+ years?
Can you make any sense as to why Obama as President has continued both our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, where dozens and dozens of Muslims are being killed daily by American troops, even after running his campaign on the promise that the wars would end?
If you can answer those three questions with reasonable, factual, and logical responses, I will take you seriously.
August 13th, 20105:04 pm
Billy Joe, you prove my point with every word you type. Let’s put it this way, you have been hoisted on your own bigoted petard. Just how long is your Hate List? We know it includes Muslims, homosexuals, Mexicans, and pro-abortion folks? We know you support the “war on drugs,” but do you want to bring back Prohibition? Is Archie Bunker your role model? I mean, you sure seem like a reactionary conservative bigot. What they call nowadays a wingnut. If this is the constituency of the 2010 GOP, then I want no part of it. I wonder if you would smear the Democratic candidate in the 7th district, one Doug Heckman. He happens to be a Green Beret colonel who graduated from West Point. I kinda doubt that he is a socialist/Marxist.
August 13th, 20105:38 pm
Billy Joe, I am certain you haven’t seen it, but here is the “my Muslim faith” comment IN CONTEXT, rather than in a dishonest and misleading, one second.snippet.
I am going to go out on a limb and assume that even you possess the ability to decipher what it is Obama was trying to say. If not, god help you.
August 13th, 20106:39 pm
“your Hate List? We know it includes Muslims, homosexuals, Mexicans, and pro-abortion folks?”
You know absolutely nothing about me.
“support the “war on drugs,””
I do not now nor have I ever supported the “war on drugs”. Prohibition gave rise to the mafia because they supplied what the people wanted and were denied by law. Similarly, the “war on drugs” has accomplished nothing other than making so-called “drug lords” very wealthy. Additionally, this fiasco has filled jails and penatentaries with non-violent offenders costing taxpayers an unbelievable amount of money. Police resources which could be better used in nearly any other area of enforcement are expended on drug enforcement. Legalizing drugs would remove the profit motive for pushers thus limiting the exposure of drugs to school-age children.
” and pro-abortion folks?”
While I personally don’t believe in abortion as a birth control measure, it should be available to women who are raped, victims of incest or whose life is endangered by carrying the fetus to term. I do not make my feelings on this known to anyone. I figure that each of us must make an accounting for our actions before a much higher court than is offered on this earth.
” I wonder if you would smear the Democratic candidate in the 7th district, one Doug Heckman”
I don’t have a dog in that fight. If I lived in the 7th district, I would not vote for him, but I commend him for his service to our country.
August 13th, 20107:04 pm
I failed to address one of your accusations.
“Hate List? We know it includes Muslims, homosexuals, Mexicans”
I do not hate Mexicans. I do very much dislike illegal aliens, whether they be Hispanic,Chinese or any other nationality. History has taught us that no nation long survived that did not control its’ borders. The federal government and unethical businesses have combined to create this problem. Obama doesn’t help the problem either when he sides with the President of Mexico against a state trying to enforce the immigration laws that the federal government refuses to enforce.
I also do not hate homosexuals. They had no choice in their sexual orientation.
August 13th, 20109:02 pm
I’m glad you clarified your hate list: Muslims, racist blacks, socialists, and women who choose to do as they wish with their own bodies (under the law). And, under certain circumstances, Mexicans.
Yes, I feel sooooooooo much better about your mindset now.
Are you a ‘birther,’ too?
ROY BARNES for GOVERNOR

Going fishing is a good idea after putting uo with Karen Handel all those months.
Hope you have a big catch.

It is the reader, sir, who has earned time off from this blog. A hacker runs through it.
August 14th, 20109:56 am
obama needs to go.
he is not American.
August 14th, 201010:27 am
Do you care to elaborate, or are you going to do like Billy Joe does and throw a bunch of baseless garbage out there and then not defend it when challenged with facts and reason?
The difference between those like me and those like you is that I start with reality, and then develop my opinions/perspective from there. You start with the way you wish things were or the way you have worked them out to be in your imagination, and then go from there. I can see how that dynamic would be confusing to someone of your intellectual magnitude.
August 14th, 201010:55 am
Get a job standing in line is dangerous.
August 14th, 201011:16 am
Islam is not merely a relligion but in fact a political entity and a system of law. To refer to Islam as merely a faith is to disregard entirely their political aim and their barbaric system of law. Many make this mistake when they speak of peaceful muslims.
Last night’s news revealed that Obama doesn’t have a problem with muslims erecting a mosque at the 9/11 site. I never doubted for a minute that he would support such a move. He is, after all, a muslim. Those who deny that Obama is a muslim are either fooled – or attempting to fool others.
August 14th, 201011:50 am
Do you have any evidence or empirical data to support the claims in your first paragraph?
Is Republican Mayor Michael Bloomberg a Muslim, too?
August 14th, 201012:18 pm
And I am still waiting on your replies to these questions:
August 14th, 201012:22 pm
Better Bloomberg link:
I guess we can all chalk Michael Bloomberg up as a Muslim now, right? Bloomberg wants us all dead with his barbaric system of laws, right?

August 14th, 20101:09 pm
Is that really how its gonna be? The sound of crickets chirping?
August 14th, 20101:28 pm
Why do the liberals always start with arrogant condesension that seems so incredibly unmerited? Is it some anxiety? Do they really believe they are smarter than everyone else? Does liberal ideology disproportionately attract jerks?
Whatever. It’s dang unattractive.
August 14th, 20101:44 pm
There isn’t any unmerited condescension on my part, and I for the record, am anything but a “liberal”. At least that was true before the likes of Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin became spokespeople for the Republican Party. Is it that I don’t fall for every bit of the BS that Glenn Beck tries to feed me on a nightly basis, that makes me a liberal? Is it because I demand proof and reasoning when someone in a political discussion accuses the President of being a “Muslim” or being a “terrorist”? If that is what qualifies someone as a liberal in the 21st century, then I am guilty as charged, and proudly so.
All I am asking is for these people to defend their assertions with facts, logic, and reasoning, and so far, none has been produced. For such a large number of people to be going around screaming about the President being a Muslim (as if that would even be a horrible thing if it were true) without one bit of reasoning or logic to back those accusations, there should be some sort of easily accessible proof behind it. Instead, there is none, and what we have is a toxic America where we are falling apart at the seams, based on fear and misinformation run rampant. With their baseless claims toward the President and any other political opposition they feel they might have, and without even realizing it, the likes of Billy Joe and JB Stoner are doing more to unravel the Constitution and our unity as a nation than any President of any political persuasion would ever have the capacity to. Our nation is crumbling because of exactly these types of dimwits, and I am not going to be one that stands around and lets their false claims go unchecked.
If you all have some proof to back up your claims, I wish you would submit it.
