State Sen. John Douglas of Social Circle faces Tim Echols, a Christian activist and non-profit executive, in Tuesday’s Republican runoff for a seat on the state Public Service Commission.
Douglas announced on Friday that he had obtained endorsements from several “conservative” leaders, including Stan Wise and Lauren “Bubba” McDonald – two members of the PSC.
But most interesting was the nod of approval from Sadie Fields, the longtime Christian activist. The quote from Fields:
“I’ve known Senator Douglas for many years and have witnessed first hand the consistent, conservative values he has displayed in the General Assembly – his voting record speaks for itself. Unlike some, John has never compromised his conservative principles for political gain,” said Mrs. Fields.
Sounds like we’ve got a case of schism in Georgia’s conservative Christian community.
