Earlier this morning, we mentioned Mike Huckabee — the winner of the ‘08 presidential primary in Georgia – as the dog that hadn’t barked in the Republican race for governor.
Sarah Palin and Mitt Romney have lined up on Karen Handel’s side. But Huckabee had remained silent.
That’s about to change — the dog’s about to bark, we’re told. For Nathan Deal.

Perfect! Sounds like Handel supporters have a hand in choosing Deal’s endorsers. Great job, Huck! Two old white guys … er, relics.

I really do not know much about either candidate; Eric Johnson seemed a better choice to me, but my cousin who resides and North Fulton and also knows Handel personally had the same thing to say about her as the earlier post: He KNOWS too much about her to give her a vote. Kinda makes you think, huh.

I could care less about the Huckabee endorsement. It’s the Georgia Legistlative Body that the Gov. has to work with that I care about. Guess who all of them support: Nathan Deal. They have worked with Handel when she was SOS and understand what will happen if she is elected.
Also, Deal has agreed to debate Roy Barnes face to face without a moderator. Would Handel do the same? Would the GOP even let her debate Barnes face to face, knowing her lack of education and knowledge of the issues. GOP voters have a choice this Tuesday: Vote for Deal and have a fighting chance against Barnes or vote for Handel and give King Roy his throne back. ITS REALLY THAT SIMPLE!

You guys need to get off the ethics thing and Nathan Deal. He has served this country for 30 years with ZERO ethical complaints. He gets ONE ethics complaint and you act like he is Charlie Rangel. READ THE ETHICS COMPLAINT BRIEF! The conclusion reads CONGRESSMAN DEAL DID NOT VIOLATE ANY HOUSE RULES, OR THE SPIRIT OF THE HOUSE RULES”.

‘Ol Huck made a Deal to see who’d throw the chickens at uncle Roy’s funeral.

For all you old relics out there that can remember far enough back in the state’s history, Georgia voters used to be just as predominantly Democratic as they are now Republican, numerically speaking. The change in party affiliation resulted not so much from a change in individual thinking, philosophy or cultural differences as it did from a change in each party’s philosophy and ideology. Today, the conservative nature of the majority of the people in this state can still be found, just as it was back in the 30s, 40s, 50s, and 60s. The basic ideology of conservatism still resides and thrives in this state but politically most now call themselves Republicans.
Before you vote there is one thing that I wish all of you would consider. Just because a person tells you they are a conservative Republican no more means they are always conservative than it means that a Democrat is always a liberal. Always look at the individual’s record. Karen Handel can call herself a conservative all she wants to but she has very little record to support her conservative assertion. Nathan Deal does have the resume to support his conservative claim.
I will always remember and admire Zell Miller for being true to his principles and personal convictions. Zell said it best when he said that, ‘he didn’t leave the Democratic Party; the Democratic party left him’. What he was saying was that he didn’t change his core values just because his party became so liberal. He grew up in the conservative Democratic era of Georgia politics. And he didn’t sway with the wind just to get a vote, which is all to prevalent in today’s politics and which is always evidenced by negative campaigning.
Although old Zell chose not to change party affiliation and continues to call himself a Democrat, he’s one of the most conservative Democrats that I know of. If he could vote in the Republican runoff, I wonder who he would support?

Everybody say what you will. It’s a huge shame that both GOP campaigns have stooped to such deep lows that everything and everybody is covered in nothing but poo.
This said, get a HANDEL (sic) on the real DEAL. Love Handel, love Palin, love Brewer, love whomever else supports Handel all you want, but if she wins, the Dems win in Nov. It’s that simple.
I’m not going to bash or defend either candidate. Everybody simply needs to start thinking for him or herself, do some research via MULTIPLE sources, speak with the candidates and ask the tough questions, and quit buying into all of the hyperbole and misinformation being spread far and wide.
I’m of the opinion that Deal is the better choice and would serve Georgia very well. He’s also the candidate whom the Georgia legislative body has indicated they would rather work. This fact, moreso than anything Palin, Brewer, or Huckabee can bring to the table, is significant and should not be overlooked in the existing mudpit.

If Deal can’t parry Karen’s attacks then what will happen in the general election.
I like Nathan and Karen both. At the end of the day my vote is for a next gen leader: Karen Handel. The other guys had their chance.
Your boy Roy will annihilate Deal. Handel is more agile and clever than either of them. Besides has any man ever won an argument with a woman?
Really??

@Jeff “If Deal can’t parry Karen’s attacks then what will happen in the general election.”
Really? If this were true, why is Karen acting more and more like a cornered cat? And if Handel is somehow elected, King Roy will rip her to shreds. He’s got the ammo – much of it provided by Karen herself – and will use it like a sniper. She won’t stand a chance.

@ Clarity : Take your own advice and look at the poll data. Handel beats Deal and Barnes in everyone. Rasmussenreports.com is source. It is true that Deal beats Barnes from the same data.
Shame on you for your talking the talk but not walking the walk. Reminds me of Oxendine.

@ Clarity again: She isn’t behaving that way at all. She already beat Deal in a debate. So what would happen to Deal against Barnes?! Annihilation.
Like I said, I like both Handel and Deal. I will be voting for Handel. If she loses the runoff then I vote for Deal.

@Jeff…How can you say “take your own advice,” when I said nothing about polls. I have taken my own advice and done quite a bit of research. I’ve also been fortunate enough to speak with Nathan directly about several concerns. I’ve not had the same opportunity to speak with Karen, but have spoken with several people in politics in North Fulton who have worked with her and received their objective feedback.
As noted in my original post, I’ve done research and have come to my own conclusions based upon things important to me personally and upon facts like who from the GA legislature is supporting whom.

After voting Republican more years than I care to recollect, I have to say that this year I feel like I’m being driven out of the GOP and steered toward voting for (gasp!) the Democrat candidate for Governor. Neither Deal nor Handel do my party justice. I view a vote for either of them as a vote against the best traditions of the GOP, and a vote that will come back to haunt the party in 2014, when the chickens come home to roost after 4 years of either Nathan (”Shady”) Deal or Karen (”can’t handle the job”) Handel. Where oh where is “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington” when you really need him???

Karen Handel has NEVER finished a job she was elected by the people. She betrayed the trust of those who elected her to 2 positions, that she quit to run for greener grass. I voted for her as Secretary Of State. She quit! Fooled me once. I am ashamed that she has given the impression that women expect different treatment. She can “bring it” but she can’t “take it.” She plays the victim, then the attacker. She doesn’t have any qualifications or ideas for Georgia! That is why she refuses to debate. I will not vote for an empty podium. I believe that she will run for President in 2 years and quit again. Karen called herself “a non elected official” at a Republican meeting. She never talked about being Secretary of State. I will not vote for her just because she is a woman. I voted for her before. She LOST my vote this election. Karen doesn’t mind stretching the truth. SHE IS NOT ENDORSED by GA RIGHT TO LIFE which means SHE IS NOT PRO LIFE. Karen…what you are bringing….I’m not buying.

@MiltonMan, You do realize that the Gateses were the richest family in Seattle LONG before their most famous member, right? His success can be traced largely to the fact that he went to the only high school in the nation that had personal computors, because Bill Gates Sr. had that kind of money. Don’t buy Fox News’s bull about him being a self-made man who was able to just build himself from the ground up. He did earn the majority of his wealth, yes, which is more than can be said about many people, but he was afforded every opportunity money can buy.
Find me an example of more than one person (because of course there will be anomalies) from the second half of the 20th century who actually had major success in an academic field like politics without a college education or an immensely wealthy family. I’m guessing you’ll be searching for a while…
