U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston of Savannah
Kingston had been a backer of Eric Johnson, the third-place finisher in the GOP gubernatorial sweepstakes.
Perhaps more important, Kingston is one of Johnson’s BFFs – and perhaps an indicator of where the former Senate president pro tem might be headed in the next few days.
Said Kingston, in a press release just sent out:
“I encourage conservative Republicans in Southeast Georgia to join me in rallying behind Nathan Deal to be Georgia’s next governor. For those who supported Eric Johnson, Nathan is the natural fit for the Aug. 10 runoff.
“As a member of Congress, Nathan earned a perfect score from the American Conservative Union which speaks volumes for his conservative record….”
U.S. Rep. Tom Price of Roswell is now the only Republican member of the Georgia delegation not within the Deal circle. Price switched his support to Handel this spring.

Nathan Deal has spent 18 years in Washington as a corrupt congressman, this made him a multi millionaire. He made a “gentleman’s” resignation rather than be brought up on corruption charges. If this is what you want, vote for him but don’t try to make out that he is honest.

Dude had to quit his job to avoid being punished for the results of an ethics investigation. No way I am voting for him.

Well, it looks like the good ol’ boys’ circle has come around, as usual. I can tell you this, Roy is sure glad to hear about all this good ol’ boy, slap ‘em on the back endorsements for Deal. You see, Karen Handel is Roy’s worst nightmare. He couldn’t beat up on her like he can on Deal. I know Roy. If Deal is nominated, Roy will be all over him like white on grits. He’ll skewer the ol’ guy alive and you Deal supporters will wonder what happened.

@Auquagirl…The Office of Congressional Ethics is another third party. It is not actually run by Congress so it has it’s own agenda here. Interesting how Nathan Deal has served all these years without anything coming up about ethics. Something is only brought up right when he decides to run for governor. Any unbiased person can see something seems fishy with that.

I thought Deal was a Lawyer & he didn’t know this was wrong.. my 6 year would have known it was wrong.
1. Got No Bid Contract From State.
2. Drew but didn’t properly record $150,000.00 for doing nothing in the business
3.When it was evaluated as a rip off by the state, Deal used the power of his office to keep his no bid contract.
This what you would expect from the Jackson Political Machine but not a “Conservative Republican”

Newspaper: Grand jury sought Deal documents
The Associated Press
ATLANTA — The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is reporting a federal grand jury is looking into discussions between Nathan Deal and the state revenue commissioner over the former congressman’s longtime business arrangement with the state.
The newspaper reported Wednesday that documents obtained through an open records request reveal a grand jury subpoenaed Revenue Commissioner Bart Graham to provide documents about a discussion he had with Deal.
The newspaper reported last year that Deal spoke with Graham and others about a state program that earned Deal’s company nearly $300,000 a year.
Deal, who is in an Aug. 10 Republican runoff for governor, has said he did nothing wrong. Deal’s attorney told the newspaper that Deal has not been subpoenaed and is not a target of the investigation.
Assistant U.S. Attorney John Horn said his office does not comment on grand jury investigations. A call to the FBI was not immediately returned.

I expect the Grand Jury is actually investigating Black Bart the Revenue Commissioner. It’s too bad incompetence isn’t against federal law.
