Charlie Crist, the independent, says drilling off Florida coast is dead — for now

This from our sister newspaper, the Palm Beach Post:

Oil drilling off the Florida coast is dead for now because of the massive oil leak spreading in the Gulf of Mexico, Gov. Charlie Crist said, renewing his call for clean energy sources.

“This is the resurrection of the clean energy argument. Without a doubt in my view.

You’ve got to have solar. We’ve got to move more rapidly to develop wind, nuclear as well. If this does not make the case that we’ve got to have energy resources that are clean that don’t destruct our environment I don’t know what is. I mean, it’s exactly that,” Crist told reporters after a noon briefing at state emergency operations headquarters.

The newly-independent governor and U.S. Senate candidate called the timing of the BP Deepwater Horizon explosion “pretty extraordinary” given that some GOP leaders, including future House Speaker Dean Cannon and future Senate President Mike Haridopolos, were pushing for offshore drilling throughout the legislative session that ended Friday.

Charlie Christ is attempting to get on-top-of the fact he is a RINO turncoat and a liar (”I will run on the Republican ticket”).

I get the feeling this guy is the quintessential politician–he’ll say ANYTHING!

He is probably correct about this halting plaans for off shore drilling for a decade or so. And he is also correct in calling for alternative
sources. The sources are there, they just need to be put to use.

I think it is unfortunate that true Reagan Republicans are now considered “Rhinos.” Prior to the current air of radicalism, fair decisions based on the needs of all was a hallmark of the former party. The Repulican party is in intolerant shadow of what it used to be.

Yeah Charlie, those windmills and solar panels are really going to power our cars. Not! So, how are all those tourists gonna make it to Disney?

@jconservative Oil makes the world go ’round. Stuck-on-stupid Democrats and Charlie Christ are clueless. We need oil and we need to drill here and now. I wonder if Hussein Obama created this oil spill so that he could use it as an excuse not to drill and try this dumb windmill and solar idea. We are ever lurching towards Socialist Denmark in how we operate this once-free country. Did you realize that just a few years ago we experienced low taxe$, a God-centered culture of life and a surge that was working in Iraq?
Now we have a Godless president who disrepects the Oval Office by running around in it shirtless? Did you know that this Kenyan-born president promotes unlimited Marxist theory and sexual debauchery? Did you know that possibly, Hussein Obama is an Indonesian plant who might allow a jihadist revolt to come to our shores?
Now, Charlie Christ is drinking the Hussein Kool-Aid. First, Christ hugs the traitor-in-chief and then he takes the redistributed money to spread to illegals throughout Florida. Guess what? Not one job has been created in Florida. But, you know something? Floridians are smart to flush this Godless Obama tool out to the oil-filled Gulf. They are choosing a true patriot who will fight for conservative values in the Sunshine State.

Crist is a liar and is out of his mind to pander to the environmental nut jobs. We have more oil in this country than all of the Middle East reserves combined. We need to get it and tree huggers be damned.

This is of course blatant escapism. We don’t have that much RECOVERABLE oil. It takes a very large amount of energy to work the tar sands and the amount of recoverable oil from shale is usually very low, as low as 1%. You should read up before you post. If you disagree than by all means invest everything you have in these sources. I’ll be glad to help you with MARTA fare every now and then.

BOW should take his meds and get out a bit more often, that is with proper supervision.
