The newly minted 7th District congressional campaign of state Rep. Clay Cox is chortling with glee today – pointing to an endorsement from Mayor Jerry Oberholtzer of Snellville.
Just in case reporters didn’t immediately get the joke, a press release explained:
The endorsement, from a key city in the largest county of the Congressional district, may not seem so unusual – except that Cox’s main opponent for the Republican nomination, Don Balfour, is the state Senator from Snellville.
“The 7th District has been the focus of my life and work from my childhood, to my career in business, to my service in the Georgia General Assembly,” Cox said. “I gladly and humbly accept Mayor Oberholtzer’s endorsement. This is another of many endorsements from community leaders tired of being bullied by government. I will be a voice for our conservative values and local control in Congress.”

Of course Oberholtzer would endorsed Cox.Oberholtzer receives campaign contributions from Cox and his company. Cox’s company Professional Probation services has a contract with the City of Snellville.

Why would Oberholtzer endorse Balfour? What has Balfour done that makes himself so great?

Is Cox the guy who tried to rewrite a state law last year in order to help his business? Another Nathan Deal in the making.

Why not check out Cox’s disclosures. What other sweetheart deals does he have with other municipalities?

The bill Rep Cox introduced last year was misrepresented by the media. It actually put more stringent requirements on his industry and provided for a fee to be paid to the state to regulate them.

In this era of extreme polarization and paralysis in Congress, you would have to be completely nuts to even want to go to Congress.

NO ONE has entered the 7th District race who is worthy of the office of United States Representative. Cox and Balfour are both pitiful jokes and would disgrace Georgia.

Tim,
Someone else is definately jumping in. I was told that today by a solid source. A person who is a Georgian, never been a politician and has no sweet-heart business dealings with municipalites, counties and the state government. I think he is actually one of us – for a change.
We need a person who has clean hands and not intoxicated with their own self importance.
Let’s see how it works. I’m voting for him
He is a solid businessman and actually has a spine. Something lacking on my sides of the aisle.
As hard as it is, I am still have hope in the American people.
