Barack Obama to drop in on Savannah

Barack Obama will make his first trip into Georgia as president next month. This was just posted by the Associated Press:

The White House says President Barack Obama will visit Savannah on March 2 as part of his “White House to Main Street” tour.

Obama plans to meet with workers, small business owners and local leaders to share ideas for helping the economy grow and to put Americans back to work.

Additional details about the visit will be announced later.

Earlier stops on the tour include the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania and Lorain County, Ohio.

Is he going to tell us how everything is getting better or is he willing to come off his throne and LISTEN to the common man ?

He will never listen to the common man, unfortunately. I personally haven’t seen where anything is better. I’ve just seen this country go further in debt.

I’m sure he will blame everything in the world on George Bush. I’d like to go, just so I could stand there and turn my back to him in protest.

Be sure to bring some water for the fainters, Jim.

The only thing small business owners want to hear from Obama is his concession speech.

I would consider myself lucky to see him in person, and after history has had its say, I bet the above posters would say the same. If you have written him off after only 1 year in the White House having inherited a country deep in problems, then you should know that every president who has inherited similar problems has had the same reaction from the near-sighted. Give him time. Of course, it takes cooperation from both parties to govern, so we will see. Hey, I wish I could have the job of being a Republican congressman or women – get to go to work and just do nothing all the time but say, “no.”

Here goes anohter million thrown away. They say it cost One million bucks minimum for him to make a trip like this. Why doesn’t he set the example by cutting expenses. Looks like he needs to stay in Washington and talk to the Senators and get them to run for re election.

Well what do you want Obama to do?

Republicans claim Obama doesn’t listen to them. Obama finally caves to the Republicans and totally destroys Republican leadership in the televised debate ‘news leader’ Fox News cowardly ditches early.

Fearing a repeat Republicans run and hide and won’t face Obama in a televised debate on health care.

The good People of Savanna are not chickens.

Republicans meanwhile are. They balk, balk, balk at everything. Then hide, hide, hide, from reality.

DannyX,

Obama had the house and a filabuster proof senate for a year. Had there been agreement amougst Democrats in Congress, In spite of total control of the legislative and executive branches he could not find consensus in his own party. He could have pushed healthcare, cap and trade et cetera through without one Republican vote.

He only is reaching out to Republicans now after thumbing his nose at them for a year because he needs them.

Sherman “visited” Savannah too. No he didn’t burn it down, but nevertheless it was worse off than before he showed up.

Obama should stay in DC and save us taxpayers some money. We do have telephones and videoconferencing if he feels the need to talk to people.

If you really want the president to save us some money, you ought to ask him to close down Dobbins, Warner-Robbins and Moody AFB’s, Fort Benning, Hunter Field and the King’s Bay submarine station in St. Mary’s, not to mention the Albany Marine Logistics Center and the NAVY base in landlocked Athens. For those who value deficit reduction over job creation it would be a small price to pay for getting our country ‘back on track’.

I see why Georgia ranks at the bottom of every list! What a bunch of idiots. Why is the so called bible belt full of such short sighted idiots who can’t see their own destruction and lack of performance. Grow up!!! Stop blaming every one for your problems! The country was f**k up before Obama left the state senate. I never seen such poor Republicans. Georgia a bunch of poor uneducated people who actually vote (Republican) against their interest. The Georgia Democratic Party is a bunch of out of touch idiots that refuses to let a new generation of politicians in the door. Hoping old washed up tired politicians are going to help them re-build. The Labor Unions are a joke they endorse based on favors and a small crowd at the state capital. Georgia Loses no matter what and don’t get me started on the voters and media. It’s over America!!!

The just say no liberal Democrats opinion of the Republicans is just what their propaganda machine wants you to think because you are ***Ba$$. The Republicans have presented ideas and they were shutout by Democrats, just watch C-Span, write your senators in Ga they are Republicans, they will tell you what they have proposed, and you make the decision based on facts and not Democratic and Obama rhetoric which are party lies.

Back and forth, back and forth.. “My representative tells me the truth, and your representative told you a/to lie”; “Keep your party’s ideas out of my version of the world.”; “It’s ‘US’ vs. ‘THEM’”; “the REAL Americans versus the Un-Americans”.. I’m appalled some of you call yourselves adults (if you are). At least when kids do it they sometimes look adorable.

It’s a big, complex world—no one has all the answers, or solutions, to all that ails it. It goes without saying, or should, that civility is a requirement for civilizations. Then again, maybe it’s just the anonymity that some of you feel you can hide behind…

Disclaimer: I’m a proud southerner with roots that extend up and down the Appalachians. I was raised with honor, respect and manners.. Some of my fellow Georgians–and, in general, all Americans– would do well to revisit what those three things mean…

Agreed, and I’ve let the WH know it more than once. Hope you have too. Austerity, tho only symbolic, is the name of the game. We’ve got to end business as usual. AF1 needs to be reassigned to ferry troops to and from (mostly from) the Middle East.

Why all the emphasis on exports since we’ve proven we can consume everything we produce and then some?

I’m disappointed he doesn;t have the courage to raise taxes and cut the Pentagon’s budget without the cover of a “deficit commission” and the opposition party. All he has to do is let the Bush tax changes expire and bring the troops home from around the world. How many countries do the evil Chinese have troops stationed in?

Folks, we should let the people in Savannah enjoy the Presidents visit. It was not too long ago that the conservatives were howling about how badly “W” was treated. They kept saying “you lost, we won” . The President has been in office just over a year and the conservatives and the GOP want to go ahead and destroy his Presidency. They tried to impeach Clinton and they will try to do the same to Obama. The conservatives have historically always been against any change, that is why they are called conservatives. Now if you folks really want to consider something different and consider yourself in the majority of Americans, you are probably moderate and independent. Consider a new third party coming on the scene. The Modern Whig Party. Dare you to check it out!

No, we can't!

Don’t want to pay for this great nation? Get out. Takes a special kind of ingrate to whine about taxes during a time of war.

BTW – 85% of the deficit was irresponsible spending by the right, before Obama took the job.

Ray…

Budgets do not come from the White House. They come from Congress, and the party that controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democrat Party. They controlled the budget process for FY 2008 and FY 2009, as well as FY 2010 and FY 2011. In that first year, they had to contend with George Bush, which caused them to compromise on spending, when Bush somewhat belatedly got tough on spending increases.
For FY 2009, though, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid bypassed George Bush entirely, by continuously passing resolutions to keep government running until Barack Obama could take office. At that time, they passed a massive omnibus spending bill to complete the FY 2009 budgets.

And where was Barack Obama during this time? He was a member of that very Congress that passed all of these massive spending bills, and he later signed the omnibus bill as President to complete FY 2009.

If the Democrats inherited any deficit, it was the FY 2007 deficit, the last of the Republican budgets. That deficit was the lowest in five years, and the fourth straight decline in deficit spending.
After that, Democrats in Congress took control of spending, and that includes Barack Obama, who voted for the budgets. If Obama inherited anything, he inherited it from himself.

In a nutshell, what Obama is saying is ‘I inherited a deficit that I voted for and then I voted to expand that deficit four-fold since January 20th.’

Simple question…Have ANY of you ever been in school and heard the statement that, “its easy for your grade to drop, but hard to bring it up”? Ever heard that? Well think of America and your past president and your current one in that way. Your past president dropped the grade to an unsurmountable place that it will take a while for ANYBODY to make it better. You gave Bush 2,920 days to screw it up, how about judging Obama AFTER you give him at least HALF of that, not 200 days. Ignorance…Sense isnt always common now is it?

And one more thing…why is it that Obama should “stay in the House and work” when you were complaining about Bush being at every other Ranger Game???

First let me say I did vote for Obama, to many reasons to list but one is PD 51. I respect the office of the president and the person that is in that role. However, since Obama has been in office I feel betrayed; it embrasses me to say I even voted for him. The democrats could have lead the country for the next 20 years if they would have done the right things: a comprensive energy policy, build more nuclear power plants (glad to see one in GA), scrap NCLB, limited insurance changes (raise the age to 26 for family members, rollover of HSA, and pre-existing). DEFICIT spending does anyone even understand the term. Cut spending before raising taxes.
