The DNR paperwork behind the Oxendine hunting incident

My AJC colleagues Aaron Gould Sheinin and Cameron McWhirter have the details on this over at Gold Dome Live:

The man wounded while hunting Sunday with Republican candidate for governor John Oxendine and others was shot with 30 pellets by Oxendine’s 13-year-old son, Oxendine’s campaign confirmed to the AJC.

Oxendine, the state’s insurance commissioner, was hunting at the Northwest Georgia Quail Preserve in Walker County with his teenage sons. On Tuesday, when the AJC first learned of the shooting, Oxendine’s staff said only that Oxendine himself was not the shooter or the victim.

See the state Department of Natural Resources document behind the report for yourself – here and here.

[...] UPDATE: The paper now says the man was actually “sprayed” in the leg — not the face — and that the shooter was a 14-year-old male. Jim Galloway’s got the incident report here. [...]

What a tragedy, if Ox can;t teach his kid gun safety, how is he capable of running the state. He continues to be associated with Yancey as well. That is not the kind of judgement or leadership that Georgia needs.

Ox for the good of your family, and good of the state, drop out now.

Jim, you’ve now referenced this issue in two seperate pieces yet you have not written about whose land it was and how its connected to Yancey.

Why are you not writing about the significant part of this story that would shed more light on Mr. Oxendine’s ethics?

1. “What a tragedy, if Ox can;t teach his kid gun safety, how is he capable of running the state.”

That’s exactly right since, as everyone knows, there is a scientific correlation between one’s ability to teach gun safety and the ability to run a state government.

2. “What are the chances the guns were switched after the shooting……..”

Probably about the same chance that one would have in getting five people to lie all the way up to the November election.

3. “Ox = Cheney”

Not exactly. Cheney has much more experience as Chief of Staff to the President, Defense Secretary, Congressman, CEO, and VP. Dick pulled the trigger too, I believe.

4. “Why are you not writing about the significant part of this story that would shed more light on Mr. Oxendine’s ethics?”

Let me take a stab at this: It’s either that the AJC has taken a soft stance on criticizing Republicans effective, well, just now–or perhaps he doesn’t know any more details yet. If you know additional details why not email Jim? Or you could make something up if that would suit your purposes better. Let’s see–lover’s quarrel, failure to make more significant campaign contributions, bad eyesight, ole’ Yance was wearing that gag quail suit again, etc.

I’m not voting for Oxendine but you people are desperate and woefully behind the curve.

” If you know additional details why not email Jim? ”

Or, he could simply read the other stories printed by his paper that detail that the land is owned by a partnership and that Yancey is a partner.

The reason I ask this of Jim is that I used to think Galloway was the best op ed person at the AJC, yet it seems to me in recent months that his writings have become biased.

It became clear to me that he supported Reid in the Mayor’s race as well.

You people should be ashamed. You have nothing better to do than bash a good parent. Do you know Oxendine? Do you know his child? He’s a responsible young man. I’ve been quail hunting and almost got someone. They were not in their pre-determined position. Is that my fault?

I’m not saying it was the victims fault, but hunting accidents happen all the time. Either, by one careless action or bad communication. I’ve seen life long hunters killed by a lapse in judgment. Cut the kid some slack. After all, he is just a kid. If his dad wasn’t running for Governor, no one would give this story a second thought.

AJC you should not lean so far left! It is an embarrassment to Atlanta!

Hit by birdshot under 50 yards…ouch. (While standing behind the rest of the group.) I wouldn’t think that J-Ox himself would make that kind of rookie mistake, but…who knows.

Did the kid take a hunter safety course? It’s probably not required if you’re hunting on private land, but a good idea to do it anyway.

It is the sociopathic Repubic party that is behind the curve.

Fortunately, they now have unlimited campaign budgets thanks to the Supreme Court ruling saying Corporations have more rights than people.
