A shake-up in the John Oxendine campaign

Jeff Breedlove, who has been a constant presence in state Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine’s Republican bid for governor, has departed the campaign.

“Jeff has left to pursue other opportunities and we wish him the best,” said David Crim, a strategist with the campaign, told my AJC colleague Cameron McWhirter. For now, Crim will share responsibilities for running the operation with campaign manager Tim Echols.

Echols replaced Breedlove’s wife, Kathryn Ballou, as campaign manager back in June. Jeff Breedlove remained as chief strategist.

We’re trying to get hold of Breedlove, but have been unsuccessful thus far.

Really.

When I read “my man Ox” [and isn't it repetitively tiring?], I think of a homosexual love affair. Is “Ox” like Barney Frank? Just axing.

To each his own I suppose. I hear it’s fashionable these days.

Hey, Kat & Jeff did OK getting and keeping Ox to the front of the pack, but it’s time for top level folks if Ox is in it to win it.

Typically front-runners, who are doing very well, don’t fire their campaign managers. Something is not adding up here. I’m guessing Oxendine has seen some internal polls with serious erosion. Why else would you fire your campaign manager?

With Kat there, can’t wait to see Hawkins fourth quarter report when it comes out on January 31st, I bet it will be really impressive, and distinguish him from the pack.
