Sarah Palin says she’s no birther

Last night, former GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin posted the following on her Facebook page, under the headline “Stupid Conspiracies:”

Voters have every right to ask candidates for information if they so choose. I’ve pointed out that it was seemingly fair game during the 2008 election for many on the left to badger my doctor and lawyer for proof that Trig is in fact my child.

Conspiracy-minded reporters and voters had a right to ask… which they have repeatedly.

But at no point – not during the campaign, and not during recent interviews – have I asked the president to produce his birth certificate or suggested that he was not born in the United States.

Apparently this is something of a walk-back for Palin. On Thursday, in an interview with conservative radio host Rusty Humphries, she said something slightly different. This posted on Salon.com:

PALIN: Um, I think the public, rightfully, is still making it an issue. I don’t have a problem with that. I don’t know if I would have to bother to make it an issue, because I think enough members of the electorate still want answers.

It’s still something that Nathan Deal might note. If Palin can retreat, so can he.

Wow. She IS capable of rational thought at times! Who knew?

You know, I want to like Sarah Palin. I really do. But I cannot get behind her having as much power politically as others want her to have. She has some seriously crazy ideas about what this country is about, and how it should be run.

Who is Sarah Palin??

Is Sarah Palin the Vice-President candidate who lost the election and couldn’t even finish her first term as Governor of Alaska? I can’t imagine her running for President. If elected, maybe she will make it through one year before getting impeached for incompetence.

of course she didn’t ask. if she would have asked she would have had to address the fact that her running mate wasn’t born in this country

Not much different than Obama being unable to finish his first term as a Senator

Another flip-flop for Sarah. This time it took a mere hours for her to go from calling questions about the President’s place of birth “legitimate” to implying they’re the work of “conspiracy-minded reporters and voters”.

What is she talking about? President Obama is not the one asking these questions. So what comparison is she trying to make. She is a joke. A hilarious one!

Good question. Is Barack Obama the mysterious “Black Liberation Theologist” that was elected President without even finishing one term in the United States Senate? Ya’ll need to stop this “she’s radical, she has no experience” crap.Take one good look at your guy and MABE you’ll see how stupid you sound.

“I think the public rightfully is still making it an issue,” Palin said. “I don’t have a problem with that. I don’t know if I would have to bother to make it an issue, because I think that members of the electorate still want answers.” Palin said in a radio interview today. http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/1209/Palin_Obama_birth_certificate_a_fair_question.html?showall
Sarah, no one made you say this, but I guess in your mind, someone put it in your mouth and made you spit it out so it’s their fault.

Hey Mike Smith – Quite a difference actually. When you leave to move up and continue to serve is one thing. Quitting to make money and get out of the heat that she helped generate is an entirely different matter. You can rationalize anything but your reasoning is faulty.

Seriously, Mike? There no difference between a sitting senator leaving before his term is up to serve as president of our nation and a governor leaving because…I’m sorry, why did she resign again? I was never really clear on that. Was it to do the book tour? Whatever it was, she didn’t leave to serve in a higher office. She just left.

Sara Palin is not only a successful politician, at one time she was actually gainfully employed. The Messiah has never been gainfully employed he has been supported by some Govt agency from day one. I’d be willing to bet he couldn’t tell us what the cost of a gallon of milk is.

Gee whiz Captain Midnight – I guess you do not want to count the several years he served in the state house and senate. Palin was in over head and being the mayor of a town of 12,000 is not exactly V.P. experience. Lets see, half of a term of govenor in a state that has less people than Obama’s old state senate seat – yeah she is highly qualified – not.
She can’t even get her “bus tour” right for her book. Turns out that she flys to locations and gets on the bus just outside of town and proceeds to “ride the bus” into the site. Hopefully she will finally just go away.

One of these days Sarah Palin is going to turn into a current day Dan Quayle. Just another young gun who speaks his/her mind and is able to convince way too many that they are the next great leader of this country. If you allow yourself to think about it, it’s really scary that so many see her as anything more than a publicity loving, money hungry moron who is riding her 15 minutes as hard and long as she can.

We should start a petition to have Obama impeached for incompetence. Will Jones (Atlanta) you sound like an Acorn employed Racist. Obama only became a Senator after having his competitor kicked off the ballot and he has never ran a business or a city Government. if the government would investigate thoroughly you would find with all the voter fraud, Obama is not really President. Obama should have had palin as a running mate, wouldn’t that be two peas in a pod

your arguement is devolving. A ton and I mean a ton of white people who do not watch Oprah voted for Obama and alot of us are white guys who are also combat veterans. Have a friend who served on the Republican Governor of Illilnois Cabnet a few years ago. He is a Republican himself but he told me about this state senator who knew how to work with both sides of the aisle and get things done. And then he told me about the guy, Senator Obama. And I guess it just depends on the newspaper you want to read. Actually read 4-5 newspapers each week. Granted that includes the New York Times, Washington Post, and the Boston Globe. I can only guess your feeling on those.
I just wish we could have more of a dialogue about stuff and not all the entrenched, bitter stuff that passes for politics these days.

I’d take a president who has a Harvard law pedigree over Palin’s spotty educational history.

I read a great comment the other day at another site by a liberal who essentially said this:

The right says that we don’t like Sarah Palin because she’s a *Mom* and because she’s pretty and feisty and clever. Truth is, that’s all we DO like about her. What we *don’t* like are her actions and the content of her policies.

I agree with that comment wholeheartedly. She’s a fun politician and I wouldn’t mind hanging out with her for a while, but not only do I not like her politics, I don’t like how she misrepresents her record. What do I mean? I mean the bridge to nowhere that she was for before she was against it… and how she charged the state for her kids’ travel… and how she said she was responsible for legal bills from the McCain campaign’s vetting of her when that has proven false… and all the other ways she’s been caught in lies (or as Jerry Falwell used to call ‘em, “metaphors and analogies”).
