Keep your yard signs up, says Mary Norwood

Sounds like someone may be doing some due diligence, just in case a courtroom is in the offing. Following are the last few Tweets from Mary Norwood, who has yet to concede defeat in the Atlanta mayoral contest:

One hour ago: “We are in a recount. Keep your Mary Norwood signs in your yard. Thank you!!”

One hour ago: “Atlanta, if you voted a provisional ballot, we need to hear from you. Email me your Name /Address / Phone/email…”

Two hours ago: “Atlanta, we have asked for a Recount of the Votes. Stand United Atlanta!”

Four hours ago: “Atlanta, if you voted with a provisional ballot, we want to know about you! Call my office at 404-Mayor-09 or send…..”

Atlanta elected TWO mayors. The south wanted theirs, and the North wanted theirs. There really is no “true” winner in this race, only a “technicality” winner, or, “barely” winner if you will.

@Margaret: Kasim Reed would have done the same thing. Every politician would have. Don’t be selfish.

I am interested to see if the Fulton County Board of Elections is looking into how Kasim “earned” 2,492 votes at Ralph Bunche Middle School when he only received 1,629 during the general election. The next highest precinct had less than 1,000 votes.

Mary Bush Norwood is taking this “opportunity” to show us all the true quality of her real character. What “class?”

Even her fellow Republican George “Macaca” Allen displayed more when defeated by Jim Webb in an even tighter match. Perhaps something of value rubbed off on him at UVa after all?

Pray G-d alone, that Atlanta, in this election, has been delivered from such.

@ Interested- Maybe those who voted in the general election for Lisa Borders switched their votes to Reed. Enough of the conspiracy theories. The ‘outsiders’ should’ve ran a better candidate.

Check out the 11alive elections map. It shows 254 for Norwood and 1483 for Reed: http://www.11alive.com/news/politics_govt/mayor09.aspx

I’m glad to see Reed followed the memo and got his peeps to vote early and often. Man, did we need him to follow that or we would be one less brother in charge this morn. Atlanta is supposed to be run by Chocalate. That is just the way it is. No matter if they run it into the ground or not.

Easy to predict this outcome. I could see into the future. It’s ACORN hard at work. Chocolate city is considered an appropriate name for a predominately black city. If a city was named White city, Jackson and Sharpton would have a temper tantrum. My view, yes I’m white, black’s are more racist but they fall below the radar screen.

@Interested:

1. There were 7 candidates last time. There were 2 candidates this time.
2. The voter turnout was actually HIGHER for the runoff than it was for the general election.

So, I bet Mary Norwood got more votes in that precint than last time also. Quit it with the conspiracy theories. Your side lost. You should have run a better candidate. Mary Norwood has accomplished nothing in her brief political career, was not particularly distinguished before entering politics, had no ideas, was not a good communicator, and had no real theme other than bashing the current leadership, which Reed isn’t even a part of (unless you think that his race makes him part of it, as Norwood strongly implied). Better luck next time with a better candidate

Those 2 precincts where Reed voted even with the revised totals of 1483 somehow dwarfed the other precincts in that area by almost 600 votes for Reed and almost 100 more votes for Norwood, and that’s beating the totals of the other voting sites with 3 precincts. Something doesn’t add up right.

It should be a sign to Fulton residents that nothing will change. All we can expect is higher taxes and more mismanagement from the city on the backs of N. Fulton residents. There are too many other metro counties to chose from with lower tax rates. The city of Atlanta is in a tailspin. Pack your bags now for the exodus.

Look for more crime, abortion doctors, debauchery, chicanery, Socialism, Taxism and Secularism under this young, inexperienced, naïve and foolish man who was handed the job of Mayor by the far left elites of Atlanta. Yes, a recount is happening, but it looks like Mary — just like Jesus’ mother — is learning more life lessons the hard way. It is just like Alpharetta’s money is separate from Fulton and Milton is separate from Fulton. That is why there are two separate amounts on your tax bill. @If she loses, @west and other Norwood supporters:

What makes you think that things would have changed even if Norwood won? The woman has no accomplishments, little experience, and no ideas. Do you presume that she would have been a competent, honest, ethical and effective leader just because she is white? Please. Again, look at the people in the governor’s office and the legislature. And for all the Atlanta bashing, look at the other cities and their white mayors. (That is if you people can even name other cities in Georgia other than Atlanta. Most of you can’t, because you have either lived in the suburbs all your lives or you came to Atlanta from another state.) Can any of you name anything outstanding that those white mayors are doing in economic growth, education, public safety, transportation, infrastructure and ethics? Please.

The truth is that ALL big cities have problems: Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Miami, Philadelphia, Houston, Memphis, Charlotte, Seattle etc. Many of those cities actually have worse problems with crime, corruption, cronyism, bad services etc. than Atlanta does. And yes, Cobb, Gwinnett, and the other suburbs are having problems too.

It is amazing how all of these people pretend that Atlanta is anywhere near as bad as Detroit or East Saint Louis (it isn’t, and if it was, the WHITE population wouldn’t have been increasing FOR OVER TEN YEARS NOW) or that any large metropolitan area would run as efficiently as some gated community country club if only the mayor was a white Republican. Nonsense. It is just that when white people are in charge, people simply abide, gloss over or ignore the problems, but when black people are in charge everyone pretends as if the civilization is falling apart and barbarian hordes are about to overrun the place.

Seriously, it is amazing that the Reed bashers are demanding more out of the Atlanta mayor than they do of Glenn Richardson, Sonny Perdue and George W. Bush, and they presume that Mary Norwood will automatically be able to give it to them simply because of the color of her skin.

Well, here’s a suggestion. Next time run somebody with ideas, accomplishments, good communication skills, and leadership ability. Or at least someone with 3, 2, or at least 1 of the 4. Mary Norwood did not have ANY of those things. Next time, get somebody who has held significant office. Someone who was a high level appointee for the governor. A successful entrepreneur or corporate CEO. A professor of economics or public policy from Georgia Tech, UGA, Emory, or Georgia State.

Give the city some ACCOMPLISHMENTS, some MERIT instead of just someone who says “look at me, look at me, I am white so I will automatically do a better job than any black person not named Clarence Thomas!” And if that happens, yes blacks will vote for them. Despite what you choose to believe, blacks vote for white mayors all the time, including Republicans like Mike Bloomberg. I repeat, Mike Bloomberg has been elected mayor of New York as a Republican three times, each with significant black support.

But Bloomberg is a billionaire corporate CEO. Mary Norwood is no Mike Bloomberg, she is no Ed Rendell (who was elected mayor of Philadelphia with plenty of black support), no Richard Riordan (elected mayor of L.A. with plenty of black support, and also a Republican), no Bill Daley (mayor of Chicago with plenty of black support), James Hahn (Los Angeles), Martin O’Malley (Baltimore), etc. Why? Because those people were QUALIFIED. They had ACCOMPLISHMENTS. Norwood IS NOT and DOES NOT.

It’s heartening to see on this great voting map http://www.ajc.com/news/atlanta-mayor-s-racerunoff-221469.html that even in the predominantly “white” parts of town, Reed got more votes, by percent, than there are Blacks in those areas, thank G-d.

Now let us pray that this “anointing” by The People of Atlanta – his election as Our Mayor – shall inspire him to seek human perfection in our community…and in his life.

May G-d bless Atlanta and Kasim Reed.

@west

Simple answer, no. I’m white and I recognized prejudice when I read it and you should too. To suggest that Kasim Reed’s blackness consitutes ineptitude and corruption, when there is nothing in his record to reflect that is prejudicial and you all know it. Mary Norwood was about as incompetent and unaccomplished as my golden retriever would be if she were in the mayor’s race and some wanted a white mayor so badly that they’d settle for this lackluster person.

Now Kathy Ashe, Nan Orrock even Clair Muller would’ve been great mayoral candidates. My larger point is; one shouldn’t select candidates based on race, gender or any other God-given characteristcs. We should judge people on the content of their character, capabilities and strengths. Mary paled in comparison to Reed on these issues and she simply lost. I hope she goes out like a lady and doesn’t humiliate herself.

God Bless You All.
