We’ve got some numbers — very preliminary numbers — coming from our reporter in the DeKalb County election office.
AJC staffer Ariel Hart says officials are reporting a turnout of over 5,000 voters, about 200 more than voted in last month’s election in these runoff precincts.
Coan Middle School and Mary Lin Elementary saw the biggest increases over November. Each had over a hundred more voters this time around. Both are inside the Atlanta city limits, where several seats, including the mayor’s of course, are up for grabs.
Take it with a grain of salt: reported numbers are based on unofficial counts by poll workers, and can vary significantly from the actual number of votes eventually tallied.

Anyone care to speculate what this means and who may benefit the most ?

Conventional wisdom is that it helps Reed if voting is indeed breaking mostly along racial lines since it would likely mean that African-Americans are voting in higher numbers than usually happens during a run-off.

Looked at map on 11alive.com. Southside turnout much lower than north precincts. Her margins are much wider there (as expected), but she’s doing fairly well in other parts of the city. With 68% reporting, it’s 53-47 Norwood.

Conventional wisdom on conventional wisdom is that going on the blogs to shill for a candidate after the voting is closed really doesn’t amount to a hill of beans.
