I can’t belive what PETA said! REPLACING UGA WITH A ROBOTIC DOG?!?!? The breeding of the Uga bulldog is supposed to be a family line! And PETA wants to put that line to an end?!?!? I can’t belive it!

PETA is not saying that the UGA dog was abused or mistreated. They are just reminding us of the HUGE issue of dog overpopulation we have due to breeding. Half of all dogs die in shelters because there aren’t enough homes for them. We need to be responsible and if getting a new mascot, instead of breeding, the athletic dept. should look into getting a bulldog from a shelter or bulldog rescue group. Who really cares if the bloodline is 100% or not; if it looks like a bulldog, acts like a bulldog, it’s a bulldog. And at the same time, we’re helping stop the cruelty in the huge breeding overpopulation problem.

PETA’s arguments are rediuclous. If I am not mistaken all the UGA’s come from the same man in Savannah and he has them as PETS! So how why would it matter if the guy is just going to have the dog anyway!

So I disagree with PETA’s suggestion of a robotic dog (what is this…Disneyland?) but maybe they make a good point about stopping the purebreeding. Texas A&M had a pure-bred collie for 50+ years and this past season they went without the pure-bred collie. It still looks like all the other collie’s they’ve had, but it’s in better health (mentally and physically) than the purebreds they used in the past. If UGA could get a white English Bulldog that wasn’t purebred and looked like all the past UGA’s would UGA fans be against it? I think not
