Austin, Atlanta has a “strong mayor” form of government. That means that whatever council does the Mayor must approve before it is so. It also means the Mayor has VETO power. I suspect the primary reason for the lusty debate on the issue of who will be Mayor has more to do with the fact that the Mayor is the BOSS, whatever his or her ethnicity may be. The people of Atlanta are not ignorant nor do they vote entirely based on skin color. With the office comes tremendous responsibility, so may the BEST candidate win and govern accordingly.

Only a few days left and hopefully we can all get through it. It will be interesting hopefully reeds goons will not be out in full force harassing folks to vote for reed b/c everbode kno reed got some interesting folks hanging round him he is a politician he is not clean he may look clean but homebo is dirty as the next poltician an yes he will owe a lot of people FAVORS if he wins his office he will be marred down in returning FAVORS for at least a good 6 months but alas his brother will b there 2 help mete out the no bid contracts and kasim with his handsome smooth talking self can placate the folks waiting in line for their balance due on their FAVORS meanwhile the citi is going to hell in a trash sewered bucket yup, like mary said politics as usuall!!! i jus don’t c reed being the change he is more of the same mary is different she is not a stupid women she will do well if the establishment will get behind her like they are now bhind reed i’m new to this town i don’t have nothing 2 lose i am jus miffed so i can say whateva i want i don’t owe no favors 2 none i met both reed and mary god bless them they will need it

I consider Reed to be nothing more than a “Maynard Jackson’s machine” pick! Over the last 35 years, I’ve watched the city services gradually go down, down, down, under various Black administrations. Being black myself, I am NOT a “racial loyalist”! I’ve seen mismanagement on a daily basis going on within the various city services. I’ve also seen my taxes soar, but my services decline.

The old trick of calling Mary Norwood a “Republican” is a trick all blacks wanting to get into office uses, but I have news for them, I’ve been a Republican for over forty years!

All I want, is a government that provides for it’s citizens of ALL races and ethnic origins. No more, no less. As of late, this hasn’t been done very effectively. I see money wasted, from a labor crew doing nothing but standing around, to water leaks that have gone unrepaired for months.

I’m supporting Ms Norwood 100%,and is hoping she wins, if not,I’ll be moving out of the city!

BTW, it appears that one of Mr Reed’s detractors, had some very harsh words to say about him.

And from what I read here it’s mostly ignorant Blacks who are raising all the racial issues.

Get over yourselves.

I am an independent, tax paying citizen who is over these ignorant people …black and white who write on this blog.

And, though it’s none of your beeswax…I come from the North. And who the hell is ‘brian’?

This crackhead Mess Up is a cyberstalker and he will not make me leave this blog. It’s my right to be here.

However, he throws these things in the mix here to confuse and destroy intelligent discussion of the real issues: typical of such a trifling fellow.

The issues are competency and integrity: not personalities. Reed doesn’t have it in my estimation…Mary does.

norwood doesn’t represent the African-American population in Atlanta—she’s for the white people only! African-Americans must vote Kasim Reed, or the white leaders will keep the minority population down!!! Vote for Kasim!
