Perhaps the speaker woke up one day and realized what he and his fellow republicans have done to this state-- that's reason enough-- to at least retire from politics...

Did we the taxpayers get to pay for the phone call? Maybe the IG needs to look in this!

Support my government takeover of healthcare please. My heart goes out to Glen and his family.....but in the meantime I want my government to control all parts of your life.

Since you (Jim Galloway) closed comments on the 911 transcripts on Richardson's suicide attempt, I'll make my comments here.....

You have no right to publicize the Speaker's mom's 911 call. Richardson did not murder anyone; he committed NO crime. The intimate details of his attempt should not be open to public scrutiny. This is a private matter. You should be ashamed to call yourself a journalist. One day, you or someone else in your family will make a bad personal decision that affects several lives. When that happens, I hope the AJC publishes the intimate details of that.

You hack.

Mike, I completely agree. My thoughts and prayers are with Speaker Richardson and his family, and I wish him the best on his road to recovery. However, he should step aside, especially considering our state's next legislative session begins in January.

Richardson is going through a tough spell right now - no doubt. However, as compassionate as I am, it should be pointed out that the role of Speaker is one that demands a clear and focused mental state and is not a place for one with severe depression and suicidal tendencies.

If Richardson has any respect for the people of Georgia, he will see this for himself and step down. He can't do justice to his job while battling demons of this sort.

So while me and my wife are taking our furlough days to help the state through it's tough times, Sonny is flying his fat a$$ all over the middle east and attending an air show!?!! Why don't he video message the soldiers and send them his regards and stay at home like everyone else in the state is having to do. And we wonder why the state never has money.
